re: Better coaching job

1) Texas
2) LSU
3) USC

I can stomach not beating Bama. It's the stupid fricking losses to Arkansas that makes me sick.

It's the opposite for me. I'm cool with one bad loss every year as long as we are competitive in the division and win it every other year or so. That's basically what Bama does. Winning the SEC with 1 loss basically guarantees a playoff spot, so I don't give a rats arse if we lose to Arkansas.

How can these clowns be ranked so high every season? The media still thinks Pete Caroll is the coach?

USC has to have the worst starting rank vs ending rank statistics of any CFB team in the last 10-15 years.

Best soccer nation?

Was having this debate with a buddy.

Which nation is the best if you take into account both the success of its national team and the quality of its domestic league. Historically, not just at the moment.

Has to be Italy or Spain no?

By Wilshire. Hollywood was okay by want to try someplace else. We are staying with gf family, so thought sports bar is best. They are not college baseball or LSU fans.

Busby's is cool pretty cool bar. There's one in Santa Monica and one in Mid Wilshire so you'll be close to one of them.

Busby's West

Busby's East
Which part of LA will you be in?
So Ancelotti was sacked today, for those of you who don't know. One year after leading Madrid to ultimate glory.

It's like if Greg Popovich was fired for not winning an NBA title this year.

I don't see how you can fire a man as decorated as Ancelotti who won the title last season, just based on one year with not silverware.

re: Away goals rule

But the away goal rule, while it encourages the away team to attack, also encourages the home team to park the bus after they have scored a goal. Or if the first leg was a 1-1 draw, the home team in the second leg would want to stall out for a 0-0 draw.
I agree with moving the 2-pt to the 1. 2-pt conversions are infinitely more exciting than PAT attempts.

Away goals rule

What do you guys think about the away goals rule?

I personally think it is lame. Why not have OT/shootout if aggregate is tied after both legs?

If Real Madrid had won 1-0 today it would have been a pretty lame way to decided a semi-final of the biggest annual tournament. It seems very arbitrary to me.

To take just one data point among many: At 4 a.m. on Sept. 9, 2010, Mayweather and a friend came into the house of Josie Harris, mother to three of his children. He was not affectionate. Mayweather questioned Harris about dating another man (Mayweather at the time was himself with another woman). He threatened to make her disappear.

Then, with those leaden fists, he struck with a champion’s ferocity in the back of her head. He pulled her off the couch and twisted her left arm. All of this comes from court papers.

Mayweather’s preadolescent sons, Koraun and Zion, heard their mother’s cries and ran into the room. Pretty Boy growled at Zion: You call 911 or run out of the house, and I’ll “beat you.” He also threatened to beat Koraun.

A fan could root last year for the Baltimore Ravens and convince himself that running back Ray Rice — who hit his fiancée with a knockout punch in an elevator — was not the sum and total of his team.

The virtue of boxing is that it’s mano a mano. You’re not rooting for the Mayweathers; you root for Mayweather. Every boxer is more or less his own boss. The ruling bodies governing this sport are barely conscious.

quote:

These men don’t lack for bravery in the ring.

Outside the ring is another matter entirely. Koraun spoke not long ago to USA Today about that terrible night when the greatest fighter of our time jumped atop his mother and began beating her with his fists.

“He is a coward,” Koraun said of his father.
2007 Florida-LSU. Watching the last TD drive never gets old.
Programs of their stature should be able to get better QBs than Jennings, Sims, Jefferson, McElroy etc. Both schools always have great receiver talent and great defensive talent to support a good QB. Right now both schools are a QB short of going on potential multiple NC runs. So what's stopping the top QBs from just going to LSU or Bama and winning multiple NCs/Heismans? Why do they choose programs like USC and Ohio State instead?
You can't have a college football game without at least one team getting jobbed by the refs.
Unless they are great passers as well, which most aren't. Now that we've seen the mediocrity of Cam, RGIII, and Manziel, is this a reasonable conclusion to make?
