re: If they hadn't raised the fence that would been a homerun
Posted by tigerinthebayou on 4/27/25 at 5:31 pm
Speaking of home runs how many did Tennessee hit this weekend? 1? How many did we hit? I lost count but about 6 or 7.
Just proves they only hit all those homeruns because of their stupid little softball park they play in.

So the downfall of their team is having a 3-0 lead after 8.5 innings and losing 6-3 then, right?
I mean I haven't watched tennessee on a regular basis to know if their relievers consistently do that or not. But I do know that LSU's relief pitching has been terrible outside of Cowan and Evans.
Like I said you have to have guys you can rely on out the pen to either keep a game close if you're behind or protect a lead if you're ahead. If Cowan and or Evans aren't available we don't have that. It's not too late for someone to emerge and figure it out but I don't really see anyone who looks to be on the cusp of that.
I think Noot may be a guy to give a look at on the weekend and see how he does but I haven't seen anything promising from anyone. Everytime I think someone might be getting over the hump they go out and shite the bed.

The lineup is good enough to win. You're not going to go out and score 8+ runs against the best teams and best pitchers. The problem is the bullpen. Tonight it's a 3-2 game after 7 and we have nobody to keep it there to give us a chance in the last 2 innings. Instead they just blow the game open. That will ultimately be the downfall of this team.

That’s Johnson overthinking the game. He doesn’t let the game happen.
What should he let happen? Let a pitcher just keep walking people? At the end of the day you have to find someone who can throw strikes and that seems to be a huge problem with out relievers. So if he has to change pitchers every batter until one of them doesn't walk somebody then so be it.
re: So we drafting Defense or Offense at 40?
Posted by tigerinthebayou on 4/24/25 at 11:18 pm
I think it's going to be QB. Either Shough or Milroe. Cleveland will take Sanders.
If it's Milroe I don't hate it. His floor is taysom hills role his ceiling is Lamar Jackson Jalen Hurts. Take a chance and if he works out great if not you have an athlete to put on the field and draft a QB top 10 next year.

I mean why not? Not like we have anyone better. At the very least it would provide some entertainment to what is otherwise going to be a pretty boring season for the Saints.

Why did he put him in????
I mean he gave him a 6 run lead in the 9th with 1 out and nobody on. Just throw damn strikes. Instead he loads the bases on walks. You could see Jay wasn't happy with him when he went to get him.
But yeah I 100% agree with the other poster. How can elite college pitchers at a program like LSU not be able to throw strikes. And his mechanics were terrible. Ben was spot on with what he was saying was wrong. How can Ben immediately see the problem but our pitching coach can't? Walking hitters is just beyond frustrating at this level. Sure you'll sometimes have walks but to have multiple guys that just simply cannot throw strikes at all is mind blowing.

It’s golf.
Each player in the field will have a plan.
They will have to execute to score their best.
All Rory and Bryson have control of is their decisions and execution.
To a degree yeah. But if you don't think being paired with Bryson is going to affect Rory you're crazy. If Rory can get out to a fast start and build a bit more cushion he may be able to hang on and win. But if Bryson quickly closes the gap and that crowd starts going crazy for him Rory is going to be feeling a huge amount of pressure which lately hasn't had good results for him.
Him being paired with Lowry as opposed to Bryson would make a huge difference for him. You always hear about comfortable pairings for players. I think this is going to be a very uncomfortable pairing for Rory while Bryson seems to be thrilled with the pairing.

I love both players but I just have no confidence that Rory won't choke tomorrow. In his younger days he was that guy that Bryson is now. He was going out and just dominating you and the course. But now it's in his head. You could almost hear it in the interview with Amanda. I hate to use the word scared because he's obviously not scared. But more like he just expects not to win and shies away from a match play type scenario whereas Bryson is just like hell yeah let's fricking go.
I'll honestly be very surprised if Rory wins tomorrow.

He's been bad both ways. So far thinks the strike zone is 6in x 6in. Hopefully he loosens that zone a little.

Yeah this is a day you just need to throw strikes. Pitch to contact even if they do square it up on this day it won't matter.
Not good long term doing that but today just don't walk people and you're good.

re: Last time any lsu pitcher threw 130+?
Posted by tigerinthebayou on 4/3/25 at 10:51 pm
Pitch counts are so overblown. It's the recovery time that is more the issue. If Anderson were to throw 135 tonight then come back on 3 days rest then that's a problem. But you'll hear backlash anytime a coach let's a pitcher throw over 115 or so pitches. There's no difference between them throwing 110 or 140 as long as they have proper recovery time.
re: Schmidt isn’t ready for SEC weekends
Posted by tigerinthebayou on 3/22/25 at 9:04 pm
The problem right now is who of our relievers actually are ready for SEC play? Our starters don't go particularly deep into games and the relievers outside of Cowan have been inconsistent.
Obviously there's time for guys to step up and get together but right now i have no clue who I'd trust coming out of the pen right now.

Y’all need to fricking learn baseball. There’s a reason every baseball team on the face of the earth utilizes the shift. It works.
Not when guys are learning how to beat it by being willing to just take what you're giving them. When you're leaving one side of the field with only 1 defender as well as the outfield shifted over you don't even have to put a good swing on the ball to get on. Just hit it to the side where the 1 defender is and you've got a great shot of getting on.
re: We are a legit final four team
Posted by tigerinthebayou on 3/1/25 at 5:43 pm
It's because all the good teams see LSU as a break in the schedule from the grind of constantly playing ranked teams. They come out sluggish LSU looks good in the 1st half. Then they wake up at halftime realize it's a game against a bad team they can't afford to lose and run away with it in the 2nd half.

The loss isn’t embarrassing, it’s baseball but almost getting no hit by fricking Omaha is concerning
There's always days like this in baseball though. If it becomes a trend then it might be concerning. But in one game or even one weekend where the hitting struggles I don't think it's time to press the panic button.
People say oh but it's Omaha. Sometimes we see guys struggle hitting pitching of some of these lower tier teams because it's not the same level of pitching they are used to seeing. They are used to seeing our pitchers who are pretty damn good and most have excellent velocity. Now you see some lower tier arms with much lower velocities and it can really throw your timing off and you struggle.

Yeah it's very embarrassing to lose a baseball game. All of our championship teams went undefeated so the season is definitely over.

Yeah I was thinking he'd hit at least .714 for the season. Maybe even .800. So yeah you're right if he falls into the 300's he sucks.
