re: Draft Prospects Thread

I think Tre Johnson is going to be a star. I would trade s future pick to try and get him at 4.
Also, if we keep Z, I would make a serious run at Luke Kornet. Major upgrade over Kelly O. Floor spacer and some shot blocking.
Also love Rashard Fleming as a sleeper later in the first if for some reason we move back.

You could do this for number 5. It's a crapshoot. The higher you are obviously you have better odds of hitting but nothing is a guarantee.

That sucked. Straight up seemed like it was rigged to protect the more valuable franchises. I still think you can get a good player at 7 and I think there is a chance you could package the Indy pick and maybe something else to trade up to 4... maybe 3.
At 7, I like Kasparas or Queen. Kasparas has size, craft, and shows some elite passing. He can also play off the ball when/if Z is point.
Queen has dominated at every age group coming up. He is really smooth snd fun to watch. Also w/ Queen you could run the double big lineup you experimented with towards end of season.
Ideally Tre Johnson drops to a spot you could go get him without giving up too much.

re: NBA COMBINE MEASUREMENTS
Posted by six4lsu on 5/12/25 at 4:50 pm
Edgecomb is the same height as Ant. His wingspan is slightly shorter but standing reach is taller somehow.
That's great. People speculated that he was 6'-2" and some change.
Cooper's measurements are ok but nothing great.

Yeah cool an nhl franchise. A sport on ice that no one in Louisiana can play.
Maybe its the IQ of the fanbase?

I wish Fears had more vertical pop. His half court finishing numbers are like 46-47%. Only 5 dunks and 0 in the half court. He is a blur but I worry about his finishing at the rim. Ala Kyra Lewis
I am interested to see what his combine numbers are....when you have a guy with elite speed but only average hops. It makes you appreciate the guys like wade, Ja, rose, and westbrook.

If the Pels land 3-5 I could see them packaging that + Indy pick and another future 1st to move up to get Harper.
A team like Charlotte or Washington may not want another young guard.

Agree that Edgecomb was not great in the ncaa...but Edgecombe is not like Culver. Culver was a rangy 6'-6" defender who could handle a little and was a good athlete. Edgcombe is good shooter and an elite athlete. Jumping over people

I love Edgecombe. I think he is a defensive leaning Ant like athlete. He might actually be faster. Kid is a blur in the open court. I saw him play twice in person and every play he is active ....swiping at ballhandlers going for tip dunks.
I agree Harper is the perfect fit. I also like the fact he has a nola connection ...his mom played ball at UNO.
I think Flagg is going to be a really good 2nd or 3rd player on a championship caliber team but I think his handle needs a lot of work. He might prove me wrong. It's hard to bet against a guy with his work ethic.
I keep going back and forth on Tre and Queen. I have a feeling 1 of them will hit but no idea which.
Outside of the top guys... I love the kid Flemming. Big athletic and can shoot.
Sleepers: I like the French guy Beringer. Big athletic...looks like a player.
Deep sleeper... somehow I watched a lot of highlights of the massive Aussie Rocco. Ben Pfeifer has a great Youtube breakdown of his highlights. Kid is raw but there aren't many guys 7'-3"+ that move like that.

re: I hope Jose has a great end to this year so we can trade him
Posted by six4lsu on 4/5/25 at 11:24 pm
What do you imagine that you are trading Jose for?
Our fanbase(all nba fanbases) are obsessed with trades and extracting max value. Everyone wants to be fantasy gm, but what are you getting back for a small backup pg who is on a great deal but at 4 million. Like a late 2nd maybe? That's awful value for Jose imo. Most 2nds turn into Didi Louzada

Galactic Inquisitor sounds like a klan scientologist.
GOPTiger is correct. You don't trade a guy like Zion with the potential to be a star for a couple of maybes. Especially when you are a struggling small market and you have him on a great contract for 3 more years... his prime years. Almost no star player when they are young. Almost never happens outside of TD and Kareem.
Even if Zion was healthy they need more talent to compete. They need to hit this draft pick. If somehow they land Flagg you would still want to see him next to Zion.
Regardless of all those points. Why do you all want to start over and tank for 3-4 years to maybe get a star so you can be good in 5 years? This city only supports a winner, if we do that there is a good chance we lose the team.

Zion came back post injury in better shape. He has absolutely played like a top 10-15 player the last few months, but the fan base is also justified in not trusting him. I get it. I started this post out if a genuine elation watching Zion play. It reminded me of the feeling I had watching his 1st game at Duke.
What makes Zion so frustrating to root for is that every glimpse of brilliance is followed by injury or immaturity. That is real. However, he is a dominant force at 24 with plenty of room to improve. That is rare. The reason you see a flurry of Zion trade articles is bc other teams have taken note and want him. The good thing is we have him on a great contract for the next 3 years...his athletic prime. Rarely do stars win consistently until their mid 20's.
The fact some lf you are desperate to sell him off for .70 on the dollar...is just strange. Do yall realize straight up we might not ever have a more exciting player? I want him in NOLA. I want basketball in New Orleans to work. Some of yall just want to be miserable.

re: What single aspect of Zion's game should he focus on in the offseason?
Posted by six4lsu on 3/20/25 at 10:30 pm
Zion needs to work on his gather and spot up 3's. Defenders know once he gathers its game over and so they are all targeting his pick up. I would say at least 1/3 of his turnovers are on the gather. He needs to develop ways to protect his gather and shield the ball.
Spot up 3's seems to be more of a mental hurdle. Same with free throws. He has excellent touch but it's all focus and confidence. Just attempting 2-3 3 pointers a game will just make him infinitely harder to guard. It is also a way for him to generate easy uncontested points. Defenders will not extend to guard him out there...so that's an easy 6-9 points a night right there.

Yeah dude because they wouldn't be a 19 win club healthy.
Zion and Trey have taken steps. If Zion becomes a top 10 guy you can make some noise next year.
How much depends on who they pick but lets not pretend this team would have been that much worse than last years team if healthy.

Nah I believe Trey can be a 2nd or 3rd guy on a championship team. He also compliments Z extremely well.
I kinda love the idea of Z kicking it out to two 6'-10" athletes that can shoot in Trey and Ace.

I know I know... all the immaturity and fan trauma but god damn he is fun to watch.
You have him locked up in what will be his athletic prime. Draft another stud whether it br Dylan, VJ or Ace(somehow I have a feeling it will be Ace) and go after a free agent big and lets go.
I want the Z/Trey/___ era to begin.

re: Mo Bamba....
Posted by six4lsu on 3/11/25 at 10:32 pm
I don't think it's much of a jump. There is a reason why he is on his 5th team in 3 yrs. I am just surprised he looks worse than he did in college.
Mo Bamba....
Posted by six4lsu on 3/11/25 at 9:36 pm
Kid turned to stone... what happened? He is so damn slow. I watched him play his freshman yr at UT and I can't believe how awkward and unathletic he looks now. I mean he was raw at UT but he could move pretty well for a 7 footer. Just reaching for the ball on a rebound looks like it is hard for him.
A sad reminder that the draft is never a sure thing. If you told me in 2018 that Bamba would be unplayable in 2025, I'd have assumed he suffered a major injury.
Oh well, it was worth a gamble.

re: If we end up with 3rd overall pick, who should we get?
Posted by six4lsu on 3/11/25 at 9:06 pm
Harper is the 2nd best player in the draft today, but I would be surprised if VJ is the 2nd best player in 3 years.
re: What will it take for Gayle to invest in a new arena?

A new arena is a great investment for a city that runs on tourism. I've seen 20 smarter posters try to point this out to the slow thinking trolls. It's alright lead poisoning is a real thing.
Concerts, events, and yes sporting events are revenue generating. If you put the stadium in the right spot it could also revitalize a district but it has to be done correctly.
