re: Where to watch an LSU game around the world
Posted by christeauxfer on 9/16/09 at 2:29 am
Overseas near/on any military installation it'll be on AFN (9 times out of 10) they usually don't play the weaker games, ULL, North Tex, Vandy etc but we get the majority of the conference games for LSU over here on Okinawa

Last night actually. I went bowling and had my LSU golf shirt on. I walk into the bar and some guy turns around and says "that's an ugly fricking shirt"
I smirked and ignored him and then he says "well, i'm an auburn fan"
my reply? "win a national championship then talk to me, until then you can piss off"

I get the random Florida fan or Bama fan trying to give me shite when I wear my LSU golf shirt to work. I just make sure to make them wait till last to be waited on

I hope they play it over here. Since we've been in Japan they've only not televised 3 games here

You probably mean october, if it was in september you could catch the ULaLa game on the 19th. Will probably be a blowout, but my family will still be there. Tiger football is Tiger football.

quote:yeah, we're gonna do our COT travel in November, we're gonna head to Hawaii for 12 days so I can get some much needed Golf in and she can get some quality time by the pool then we're gonna hit Keesler (mississippi) for a few days to visit some friends from here who just PCS'ed there and I'm gonna head down to Baton Rouge around the 19th and unfortunately they won't be playing at home against Ole Miss that weekend so I may try to scalp some tickets in Mississippi to catch another game before we head back to Philly then off to Turkey.
Nothing like following the wife around. Mine followed me around long enough for me to retire and her get a monthly check. I was told that is how it is supposed to be so no griping.
Are you coming home for a while in between assignments? Gotta catch a game and eat some mudbugs if you do.
to you and your wife. Thanks for the sacrafices.
My only real requirement when we hit BR is to head to Raising Cane's! :nana:

quote:as mentioned earlier... peace park is the main one. there is also Himeyuri Monument and the former underground Navy HQ.
Are there any WWII monuments, museums or preserved battlefields in Okinawa? I'd love to see that place. Hugh Marines/Japanese battle there.
There are tons of tunnels here. There's also a former military hospital cave underneath the 10th hole at the banyan tree golf course here on Kadena.

quote:I used to live right next to Torii Station in some apartments called Torii Heights. We moved onto Kadena a while back when my wife's allergies got to be too bad. The back side (farmers side) of Torri was basically our back yard so we had to get away from that.
I wa stationed at Kadena but worked up at Torii Station in 1970.. I lived for a while in Koza City in the Million Apts and later at Kadena Gardens, north of the AFB. I loved it, except for the war, pretty exciting place with lots of history and culture. Hai, dozo

Okinawa soon to be Turkey, Checking in

Just wanted to say what's up to the fellow Tiger fans. We're stationed over here on Okinawa for the last 2 years and about to head to Turkey for 2 more years (Air Force)
Lived in Baton Rouge for 10 years right off Nicholson, a stones throw from the stadium. Close enough in fact I listened to the PA announcer during games rather than the play by play on TV and even charged people to park in our driveway for the home games.
Geaux Tigers! :geauxtigers:

re: Do you fly your car flags after a close loss?

I always fly mine, there are a lot of SEC fans here on Okinawa and maybe 10% are LSU fans. So I always make sure to let them know that we're here on the island and who they need to bow down to when we pass by
