On the worst days up here its like it is for the entire summer back home. But it doesn't stay that way for long, plus the humidity is lower so it actually cools down at night.

Tons of that for me in Northern Virginia. I have a section of fence that traps all the leaves that get blown by the wind that 95% of the time blows out of the NW.
I don't care about leaves from some other person's house because I'm not an unstable person. I also don't rake my own leaves, i run them all over with the lawnmower and make instant mulch/feed for the grass.
