2-1/2 days in Oregon/Washington
Posted by Geert on 9/30/25 at 12:52 pm
Flying into Portland. Starting off with Colombia River Gorge and Mt Hood. Debating whether to go south from there and see Smith Rock Park/Crater Lake and then the next day head to the coast and see the Dunes national park and drive north to Cannon Beach.
Other option would be to head north from Mt Hood to see Mt St Helen’s and Mt Rainier and then head to Astoria/Cannon Beach.
Would love some educated opinions

Not a full time loner. Half the time, sure. Other half, I’m very social. Almost always have a crash after being socially active. Like running on batteries
Social Energy
Posted by Geert on 6/6/25 at 3:55 pm
There are days/moments when I feel like I’m clicking and I have endless energy talking/joking with folks and then there are times when I got absolutely nothing to discuss and would prefer not seeing anyone. Would love to avoid being the guy that wants to avoid people. Can’t put my finger on why either happen. Anyone “figured out” what basically makes you enjoy being around others?
Skenes, Shaq, or Burrow?

If you (or your son) were considered the equivalent/2nd coming of one of these three and played for LSU, who are you picking?

Such a sad situation on all fronts. Any lawyers here know how much actual served jail time he was likely looking at?
What was your high school dream car?

We have fellas who grew up in the 60’s/70’s/80’s/90’s/00’s here. What was the one and did you land her (insert mom/sister joke)? A realistic one. Land Cruiser, Bronco, Tahoe, Trans-Am, Shelby GT Mustang, Corvette Stingray, CJ-7, Land Rover, etc. Post pics if you got em

For those of us who had the privilege of being a teen during these times what was “the” vehicle you always wanted/had back in the day?

Getting raped by a fat chick or dude would no doubt generate perspective but that coincides w my rock bottom/tragedy moment I’d prefer to avoid

Anyone find themselves often wondering why you can’t have more moments of perspective in life. I would do anything to have a more consistent state of mind that is chasing kindness, loving others, forgetting about whatever pointless narrative is filling my headspace that particular moment/day. The moments of clarity come when reading a book/watching a movie/hearing a story about things that move the heart. Life can be going just fine but there is still something interfering with being the person you really want to be. I often think of how people reflect on their lives when they are at the end of the road. Most people seem to have similar regrets of living in some sort of selfish state too often through life. Anyone ever had a pivotal shift that changed your life? Does it have to be a rock bottom/tragedy moment? I know…thinking this way is exhibit A of being too much in my head

Unexpected Thoughts/Feelings after Losing a Loved One
Posted by Geert on 7/25/24 at 11:52 pm
Just lost a family member after a long drawn out death in hospice. Head is spinning. More so for his immediate family (adult children/spouse/siblings). Anyone care to share what you experienced that you didn’t see coming after the death of a close loved one
Lay of the land if Trump had been killed?

What would the political/societal aftermath have looked like if that nut job had killed him? First day? Week later? Months later?

Painting Tire Rims
Posted by Geert on 6/22/24 at 2:02 pm
Have a twenty year old Land Cruiser with stock rims that are getting discolored. Would rather paint them a flat black than get new ones. Teenage son’s car. He’s paying for it. Just trying to give him some solid advice on whether to get new ones (don’t see the point) versus get the existing ones painted (don’t want them to look like shite). Anyone have any experience/advice on doing them yourself or paying to have it done somewhere? Expected cost to have them done “professionally”? Figure it’s gotta be a lot less than getting new ones. Appreciate any help
iPhone volume

I can only hear people talking on the other end if I’m in a quiet room. Did I accidentally activate some sort of quiet setting? Yes…the volume is all the way up. Anyone deal with this before? It’s an iPhone 11
Squats Advice
Posted by Geert on 5/25/24 at 9:11 am
Recently got into doing squats the last few months. I’m in my 40’s and really just looking to keep some strength in my lower half and avoid injuring myself. I haven’t been wearing a belt. Should I be? The most weight I’m doing is 205 x 8. Also, what’s the best proper form advice you’ve heard?

Well damn, didn’t realize I’d be getting downvoted for asking a question about a vehicle. Just heard over the last couple years (probably from this place) that they weren’t solid vehicles. I only know a couple folks who have one
Ford Bronco Reliability
Posted by Geert on 5/19/24 at 6:34 pm
Anyone have any bad experiences with the new Broncos? I hear they aren’t good quality but everyone I’ve ever talked to who has one loves them. Wanting to get a vehicle that me and my kids can have fun riding around in with the top off. Not a lot of options out there besides the Bronco/Jeep. Doubt Isuzu brings the good ol Amigo back anytime soon
