I think you should look at oak mountain schools (soccer) as well as vestavia/Hoover and try to get close to the river and state park. Sure, the Cahaba is a glorified creek but you can still float down it.

Sorry. I’m old and this is new to me....found this on Forbes

From a federal income tax standpoint, bitcoin and other cryptocurrency are not considered “currency.” On March 25, 2014, the IRS issued Notice 2014-21, which, for the first time, set forth the IRS position on the taxation of virtual currencies, such as bitcoin. According to the IRS Notice, “Virtual currency is treated as property for U.S. federal tax purposes.” The notice further stated, “General tax principles that apply to property transactions apply to transactions using virtual currency.” In other words, the IRS is treating the income or gains from the sale of a virtual currency, such as bitcoin, as a capital asset, subject to either short-term (ordinary income tax rates) or long term capital gains tax rates, if the asset is held greater than twelve months (15% or 20% tax rates based on income). By treating bitcoins and other virtual currencies as property and not currency, the IRS is imposing extensive record-keeping rules and significant taxes on its use

So more about taxes and withdrawals...are you guys claiming this as gambling income or what? I feel silly watching any longer and am about to wade in the water.

If I catch lightning in a bottle and get some crazy 2000% gain in a month, I’ll want out..
Having to read anything more than we have to about trump sounds like a punishment to me...check out Peter Lynch’s books.

Am I correct in reading that there is no limit to the amount of losses that can be realized during the year to offset capital gains?

I don’t want our income to be any higher this year and want to unload a bunch of losers that have been held for years to wipe out all gains. Thanks!
Well said. I like how this got anchored..free speech, opposing opinions and all.

The best part to me is the owners who are backing the players and essentially giving trump the finger too.

Hopefully it escalates all year...The orange moron will strike back with his hurt feelings soon on twitter.

Reread the numbers and think you're unsure of what the next year would bring. I would try to max 401k this year if possible and both do it next year. Wait to see about Roth eligibility depending on wife's job

I wouldn't buy much of anything yet. Economically, go to yard sales, check Craigslist, and accept free stuff from people you know with kids. Your wife may not be cool with that though. We survived with cheap/free everything...that name brand stuff adds up fast. If you buy new, buy a stroller combo that comes with a bucket car seat to use for first year...Walmart makes a cheap one.
Two important (to me) things to look for are a Bjorn carrier and an ergo carrier..good luck

Do you actually live in the bay or just like the music?
The B.U.M.S
Agree.

I would personally save CA for a totally separate trip and never go farther than about 300 miles from four corners...and camp most all of it. But it ain't my trip...good luck OP
What's the maximum amount of time this trip can take? I feel like you will see a lot, but if you have to set up and break down camp daily how much are you really seeing? A lot of these spots are so amazing you might want a few days for exploring. If you're gonna put the effort in I hope you can stretch your timeframe a lot more...and swing through glen canyon and camp lees ferry if you can.

San Diego is our go to spot with 2 kids. There's a sea world/zoo/safari park pass for I think 1,3, or 7 consecutive days...we have season passes to both now. There's Point Loma, down town, beaches, boardwalks, surfing, old town....plenty to do. Our kids love it.
