This. The Dome is in the perfect location now and has shown that it can be easily updated to meet the times.
I went to the Sugar Bowl and sat in the loge club for the first time since completing renovations. Not only is the dome historical from all the big time events and memories it has provided, but it felt like a brand new building. I was blown away.
The dome does not need replacing. Back in 2001/2002 when Benson was pushing for a new stadium, Dave Dixon cleared the air on the news and said the building has so much available space to do all what he is wanting to do.
Over the next two decades, that is exactly what happened with upgrades. The man is a legend.
Likewise, let's say Benson got his way and his new stadium back in 2002. The design was essentially similar to the Titans current stadium. Oh that's right the Titans are already building a new stadium. Furthermore, it was an open air stadium. Remember the brutal UCLA game last year? That would have been the stadium experience at noon on Sunday. I am still amazed that he wanted an open air stadium.
The dome has charm and history. I would say the next round of upgrades would deal with the exterior aesthetic leading to the dome. The parking garage surrounding it is an eyesore. There must be ways to integrate parking with greenspace/vending.
That and those multicolor seats. I am still amazed that those seats have survived renovation after renovation. Those seats are over 30 years old. The first set was replaced after only 18 years.

No.
They are documented, have a DL, a SSN, pay taxes, and actively deal with an immigration attorney for citizenship. ICE knows all about them already.

I deal with a few Honduran families. Very good people. They embrace Christianity, spend all of their free time with family, despise crime, and their American born children are polite and respectful.
A few of them attained citizenship, with a couple more now going through the process. They are the type of people Trump would want to have here, however, they have to be lead on properly pursuing the American dream, and what it means to be an American. They have embraced my wisdom and leadership, but in the end its in their court. Their issue I have noticed is they live within their community bubble with their church, and they need to branch out. I get why that is a challenge for them, and I have helped them with that, but I predict that their children will be the ones who become full blooded American model citizens.
They definitely do not live off of the government, that is for sure. Kudos to them. They remind me of my grandparents and their family circle who first came here from Europe in the 1930's to pursue the dream.

Looks amazing on TV. Job well done with the mirage. The city is still a garbage shithole.
Although I am not a Moreno fan, I am very optimistic that NOLA will trend in the right direction the next four years. The problem is is that it has decades of neglect to address, and that takes 1-2 decades to fix if done correctly

I was at the game and found both Georgia fans to be well-mannered and polite. Lots of people were congratulating the other's fans for a great game. It was very civilized, not like anything I've seen before.
Same here. Everyone was nice to one another. Only exception was a pissed off UGA Coed who threw her water out on the fans below in the garage pedestrian ramp. Ole Miss fans were upset but they took the high road.

Dude its tradition! What is a new year without a Rose Parade and historic bowls? :usa:
My Goals:
Pay off two properties in full after only having a mortgage for a couple years. Snowball those monthly premiums to my current home.
Add at least $1M cash to my stock portfolio
Continue to save and surpass $2M cash reserves in the business
Increase donations to my kids schools, the church, and The Oaks.
Add $120K to my kids' 529 plans
Purchase a new car in cash
If all goes well and we don't have a market correction, I finally will accomplish my dream of owning a new Cobalt boat in 2027. My dream for the past 25 years. What I love most is the wife is now pushing for it. I never thought I'd see the day.

re: Why do people waste money on watches?
Posted by Mariner on 12/31/25 at 8:22 pm to WaydownSouth
I was with my grandfather when he bought his last Rolex back in '89. It was a presidential and he paid $8,000.
That same model they sell today is now $52,000.
He gave it to me before he passed. I took it to the jeweler to get it serviced. The watch has a special bark finish on the links, and a unique bezel. The guy said that it is unique and is coveted by collectors.
I would never sell it. Its a reminder of my grandfather and the sacrifices he made to ensure his family lived a good life for generations to come.
Its a hobby for enthusiasts.

Technically yes. You just need to create a PIA password with special characters, numbers, uppercase/lowercase. Like one that you would hate so much because its so complicated.
I have never received a phishing attempt to get a 1password out of me.

Download the 1Password app. You have one password to access it (put it in a safe so you never forget). Once you access it you can create all the passwords you want under each entity. Websites are stored similar to your phone contacts.
When you go to login to say, your bank or cell phone provider, a widget pops up on the login screen to access 1 password. You click it, and it goes straight to the password, and you autofill it. Done.
When a tech guy recommended it I figured it would be the biggest PIA. It's a lifesaver.
You can set the master password to facial recognition. Just don't get kidnapped and tied up.
The 1Password password should not be used as a password anywhere else.
Good luck.

I think the meaningless bowls should follow the way the Pop Tart bowl does it now. It's meant to be a fun and entertaining time watching an exhibition game. The way the mascots interacted with the players and fans before, during, and after the game was hilarious and unique, plus all the flair surrounding it. There were many social media influencers and youtubers at the game promoting it. They must have been paid by the bowl to promote them, and honestly they did a great job doing so. My wife now wants to attend the Pop Tart Bowl.
The bowls were meant to celebrate the end of the season, reward the teams for their journey during the season, provide the players with a rewarding experience (win or lose), and matchup teams from other conferences setting a random competitive matchup. Over the past 35+ years the journey to get a #1 vs #2 matchup occurred, which was refined and updated along the way to perfect it. During that time the other bowls slowly became more and more meaningless.
Outside of the playoff bowls, the bowls should be centered around having fun and enjoying a celebration of the sport itself from both a fan and player experience. The Cheez-it showers, the winning team devouring a life size pop tart while its pop tart brother watches in horror....it makes it entertaining and provides a different take on competing to win, all while having levity.

What?
elitism -
the belief that some things are only for a few people who have special qualities or abilities.
They think they are better than say, an AC repair guy (or insert any other middle class profession). Then they find out the AC repair guy owns a successful AC company, has grit and ingenuity, and is living better than them. It drives them insane as they live in a shack and commute in a dingy subway for an hour or longer a day, and come home to a shoebox for an apartment, all with massive student loans.
I saw this for three years. Those people live in a bubble. They think the world outside of that bubble is stupid and ignorant.
re: Moving to New York in your 20s
Posted by Mariner on 12/29/25 at 6:59 am to Prominentwon
I lived in NYC for three years attending graduate school. I knew only one person who was the daughter of my dad/s business partner. I met her a couple times before but knew nothing about her. Hung out with them and met fellow Lousianians/New Orleanian transplants. Then they took me to an LSU alumni football game party, and met more. I established a good social network.
Every one of them that I knew was there to basically extend their college experience as a professional. They all had career jobs, but were chickenshit for the most part. Most if not all of the people I knew either moved somewhere else, or back to their hometown.
One friend of mine who graduated LSU with a general business degree went up there and reality hit him. He was competing with alumni from far elite programs, and many of those were working in restaurants hoping to land a career job.
The only exception is a good friend of mine who went to Tulane MBA and loved finance. He moved there after graduate school and has killed it ever since. He has been raising a family on the Upper East SIde for over 15 years. He has had enough of NYC and is trying to move to Florida but he has irons in the fire for something in NOLA.
Everything that is successful has its risks, its lows, its struggles, and an unlikelihood that it will happen. However, the payoff could be big. There is nothing wrong with a failed attempt, but odds will be against them.
I think living the NYC life is great if there is a set time limit to it. Go there to get experience, get cultural, establish connections, have a fun time, build a resume, and then move on. If they don't succeed but are too stubborn to give it up, they will eventually turn into a screaming lib who hates successful people because in their mind they are "qualified" to be just as if not more successful.

I think its at the point of the risk of taking GLP-1 is lower than the risk by not doing anything. If you are a total fat slob and can't curb the diet or get at least light exercise in to see weight loss results, then by all means get on the drug.

That's what I did this year. I bought a Santa Zoom call right after Thanksgiving, and had Santa tell them that they have been so good every year, and he needs to focus on the bad kids. He said the elves would pop in a few times to say hi. The kids were happy. It worked great for all parties.

Why not try to sell and get some of your money back?
Because time is money. If your time at your business/profession/with family is worth more than recouping money for an item you owned, its logical to just let someone have it or donate it. Its also fulfilling to make someone's day if you are fortunate. One example is I am giving a $1400 drum set to someone from my kids school today. Its collecting dust at my house, and the family that could really use it is so excited and appreciative to get it. I was going to give it to them, but they insisted on buying so I sold it to them for $100. Its a good feeling for me to see altruism at work.
I think its a mindset too. Some people have "it will be worth X amount of dollars in a few years when I sell it, I can afford that difference in cost so I will get it. If not for that I could never afford it" versus "All this stuff I get is worth $1 to me once purchased (if that), so if I am not willing to part ways with my money at the time of purchasing the item, then I just won't get it."
Booked the Peabody this morning.
If you plan to go get your rooms now. There are going to be a ton of LSU fans making the trip even without tickets just to cause a stir, and with it being in the beginning of the season the energy from optimism won’t be beat.

How many were alloted?
I requested four for a business partner living in Houston. Got club seats on the 40. I figured demand was awful.
