I think Saban will attack LSU's weak Lbers in every way possible.
I'm already cussing Karnell Hatcher.

It's all about the "subjective" calls.
Holding/Not Holding, Pass Interference/No PI, and even ball spots can screw you. 09 proved even the replay booth can screw you.
These are the ones that always seem to go against us in Alabama.
Pay attention to them.

SEC Rankings last 5 years for least penalties.
Bama has been 1st, 1st, 3rd, 1st, 1st.
A journalist needs to do an in depth story to expose this to the rest of the nation.

Ritter did not call 06 Auburn game. He did call 07 and 09 games in Tuscaloosa though.
This will be the 3rd time in as many chances Ritter has done the game in Tuscaloosa.
Wanna know how the penalties shook out the last 2 times?
22 against LSU and only 6 against Bama.
In 2005...the last time Ritter didn't call LSU/Bama in Tuscaloosa? Matt Austin's crew did it and it was 6 against LSU and 7 against Bama.
You bet they wanted Ritter...AGAIN!!!

Ritter is a business man who lives in Franklin, TN. He went to BGA HS in Franklin.
Not sure about college.

Ritter's crew was the same incompetent crew from '09 in Tu$caloosa.
Doesn't surprise me in the least. Nothing that comes out of B'ham does.
It is a slap in the face of LSU if true after what happened in '09.

LSU fans can only hope this isn't true.
re: Impact of New Recruiting Rules

Multi-year scholarships immediately puts even more pressure on coaches to accurately ID talent. The combo of offering players earlier than ever these days to keep up with other schools... plus multi-year schollies just made things that much tougher.
Increasing academic requirements hurts schools who recruit in the deep south as much or more so than other areas.
LSU has a large number of players who would not be playing right now with new academic recs.
This too makes recruiting tougher.
Everyone will have to adjust to them, but if I had to pick one conference this will impact the most it is the SEC based on how we presently recruit and manage our rosters.
The $2000 per athlete will just be passed on to season ticket holders. Lovely.

Just did some research...
In 2010 data was collected looking at the previous 3 years penalty stats.
Bama was the least penalized at 40% of enforceable penalties going against them. LSU was last at 56% going against them.
Moreover...Saban's LSU teams received 50.7% of enforceable penalties compared to just 40% against his Bama teams.
That is a clinically significant difference given the sample size.

It is no coincidence that Bama has been at or near the top of the least penalized teams recently.
I find it funny that when Saban was at LSU...LSU was not near the top most years, but now a Saban led Bama is.
Hmmm...

I don't feel he should start at all. I just don't see why he hasn't been on the field more at guard late in these blowouts...especially with the injuries and hobbled starters.

Look at his perspective...Redshirt came off early. Team is having crazy success and hrs on the sideline watching his classmates (Freak, OBJ, Magee, Hilliard, Landry, Rasco, etc) all contributing and having fun out there while he's sitting on bench watching.
Normally it would be a moot point for a true freshman OL, but Collins is physically ready to play...so unless he has off the field issues, can't learn the blocking schemes, or has a horrible attitude...I see no reason not to play the kid late in these games.
Bottom line...I can see why he's upset. He's a great kid and the most physically talented OL we have had in a long time. He's just frustrated and wants to join in the fun!!

I suppose coaches have reasons for not playing him, but the kid certainly has the talent to have seen the field A LOTin the 3rd and 4th quarter of these blow outs.
I really don't understand it...especially with the injuries the line has suffered.
It's a head scratcher to me unless they think they can somehow get his redshirt bac.

We've won 8 of the last 11 against Bama.
Although you'd think from listening to Bama fans it was the other way around.
I love LSU in this game. I only fear the zebras.

I realize nothing can be done about it, but it's the subtle calls/no calls I hate.
People don't understand how important it is to Bama's offense to get away with grabbing Dlineman outside their shoulder pads.
I just find it funny how Saban's LSU teams were rarely if ever among the leaders in fewest penalties and Bama has been near the top every year with him.
Same coach, same philosophy, same plays...but somehow everyone Bama recruits is more "disciplined". Ha ha!!!

Good post!
My biggest concern remains the Zebras.
Bama fans will tell you how "disciplined" and "well coached" Bama is to have so few penalties.
The rest of college football knows better. Their OLine holds better than any team in college football.

UT TD was the only one scored before LSU was up by about 30 already.
AU, UK, and UF were all 2nd half garbage TD's when game was already over.
Impressive...but so is Bama's domination.

Okie Lite can beat OU. OU would get skull drug by LSU and Bama.
