re: LSU v. Alabama 1984

My seats that game were next to the LSU band. At the end of the game, when LSU was running out the clock, the band played the Ghostbusters theme. It made me forget how cold and wet I was!
re: Offseason (holy crap) thread: anyone remember the precise moment they became an LSU fan?
Posted by Charles73151 on 1/18/20 at 6:56 am
Halloween 1959 - I was a 3rd Grader living with my parents in the Chattanooga, TN area. I had caught an early cold and my mother would not hear of me going trick or treating. My consolation prize was control of the family radio. I tuned in WWL's broadcast of LSU - Ole Miss. Billy Cannon's exploits, as described by J C Politz, turned me into a die hard Tiger fan. 60 years later, my love for LSU goes on.

Live: Earthquake game
TV: Warren Morris
Honorable Mention: Anthony Jennings to Travin Dural Arkansas 2013 - totally unexpected.

The interview with Tracy Wolfson following the 2011 Arkansas game. Tracy asked Les: "Did you and Coach Petrino have words?" Les answered:"Not many'"
re: How Often Do You Wear LSU Attire When Not Attending an LSU Event?
Posted by Charles73151 on 12/25/17 at 3:58 pm
I wear my LSU attire several times a week. I live in Alabama, and my wife says I wear it as a metaphorical middle finger to the Crimson Tide nation - that is a charge I willingly plead guilty to!
re: Traveling for Tennessee game

They have a bus (several, actually) that will take you from Patriot Park (Traffic Light #7 in Pigeon Forge) to the stadium and return (Leaves 30 minutes after the game ends). It beats fighting stadium traffic.
re: So Phoenix and Nashville were the alternative sites in the original contract?
Posted by Charles73151 on 8/27/17 at 9:21 pm
I live less than 3 hours from Nashville and I have a sister who lives 30 minutes from the stadium where they would play the game. Nashville works for me.

Beating Alabama in Tiger Stadium 2000, ending 31 years of futility.
re: Nostalgia Thread...Name some of your favorite experiences as a Tiger fan!

Legion Field 1984. LSU beat Alabama 16-14 that day. As the Tigers were running out the clock, the GBFTL was playing "Ghostbusters".
re: Most Memorable LSU Game that you actually attended

Ole Miss 1970 - Archie played with a broken arm.
Auburn 1988 - The Earthquake game.
Arkansas 2013 - Jennings takes the Tigers 99 yards to win.

I got my ticket off of Stub Hub and it just arrived. Section 131 Row 42.

Logan Stokes was cut by the Patriots in training camp, and was picked up (and cut) by another team. He is currently in graduate school at Ole Miss.
re: Who had the pleasure of watching Pete play?
Posted by Charles73151 on 2/28/16 at 7:49 pm
I live 2 hours north of Tuscaloosa, AL. In February 1970 I drove to Tuscaloosa and saw Pete put up 69 points against Alabama (in a game LSU lost 106-104 in overtime). Pete flipped off the Alabama crowd on his way off the court - he became my hero that day!
re: FBall: List some of your favorite Tigers who weren't exactly BIG names and why

Jamie Bice - not a great natural athlete, but could be counted on to give great effort. He had a solid performance playing safety in the famous 1988 Earthquake game against Auburn.

For the record, Josh Reed had 19 catches against Alabama in 2001, not 17.

I am flying into Milwaukee and renting a car. I have hotel reservations in Sheboygan. According to my atlas, it is 116 miles from Milwaukee to Green Bay and Sheboygan is approximately the halfway point. It is close to the Whistling Straits golf course where they played the PGA Championship last August.

We took some arse whippings from Florida during Spurrier's time there, but not in 97. LSU beat the No. 1 ranked Gators 28-21 in Tiger Stadium that year.

I'm in. I live in Alabama, and the last LSU - Bama game played in this state that I didn't see was 1982 (Bear's last year). Geaux Tigers!!!
re: LSU vs. South Carolina away tickets (@USCe)

It took 4 weeks for LSU to refund the McNese tickets - this situation shouldn't be much different.
re: If FL vacates wins, how does this affect the SECW race?
Posted by Charles73151 on 10/12/15 at 3:56 pm
Won't have an affect at all. Any vacation of wins (which seems unlikely to me) will happen long after this season has ended.
