Oh yeah? You lose some credibility here, considering Justin Hunter never once even considered Tennessee before Dooley stepped foot on campus.
Also, Oku was a FULMER commit and had absolutely nothing to do with Kiffin.
Montori Hughes was a 2 star from Murfreesboro that also committed under Fulmer.
If you are going to argue, don't throw out ridiculous names that committed under Fulmer and claim them for Kiffin.

Interesting how I am watching the press conference now and his comments are the complete opposite of what is posted here.
If anything, he has been overly complementary of Kentucky.
The quotes in the original post are BS and made up

Berry will end his time at UT without a win over UGA. Without a major bowl game.
Wow, I would figure the 2007 arse whooping we put on you guys would stick in your memory. Also, what relevant things has UGA done since Berry has been in college? Have arguably the best and #1 team preseason last year only to not live up to expectations and play Michigan State in a bowl? At least we have BEEN to an SEC championship in his time at UT, which he wouldn't have had the opportunity to do at UGA...

Most never considered him a one and done, just a few homers that overhype everything.
He needs some work still, but he'll get there.
Don't know what you are talking about brotha, but Hopson was considered by MOST to be one and done. He was definitely a bust. I am hoping he changes things compared to last year, but lets not skew the past. To say he wasn't a disappointment last year is to be ignorant.
Either way, I am glad Tyler is coming back. Hopefully our team can learn to not play like a bunch of dumbasses like last year.
Either way, whatever we can do as a conference to make the SEC more legitimate, I am happy with.

I would say half this board was against him, and that half thought he was a slime ball. The younger college crowd was excited I know that for sure. He can coach I don't think you get an arguement there but his recruiting techniques are well lets say "questionable". I would put more stock on what a TD poster has to say about Ed O than the Vol Nation, as many grew up with him his kids etc etc. Sour grapes, nope no way.
You very could be right about only half the fans being excited. I didn't visit this site as often until the volnation board was flooded with posts from LSU fans.
I agree also that he sucks as a head coach. I also agree that his recruiting ways are questionable. However, I think he will be able to bring in some huge recruiting classes that we need to get back on to a competing level in the SEC. We will see how it all turns out in the future...

I find it quite funny and entertaining that people on this board continuously slam Orgeron and his coaching ways.
People around here must have short memories, because I can specifically remember the volnation board being FLOODED with people from tigerdroppings when it was announced Orgeron to LSU.
The board was literally overtaken by TD posters claiming the steal of the century. Now he sucks?
Sour grapes.

We were a university before Texas was a state. You have won 4 bowl games in the history of your program. Cock.

Went from alpha male to Napoleon to a USC/UT pissing match..
True, sorry to get off topic..but please realize USC is in California. Once South Carolina manages to win a bigger game than an outback bowl, then they possibly can be referred to as USC

Congratulations, you managed to beat our worst team in history. Knock on us last season all you want, but that STILL doesn't change the fact you have won 4 bowl games in the history of your program. I guess the Outback bowl is the greatest thing that has ever happened to South Carolina..

Sure you say! And the QB that walked was a walk-on, low on the depth chart and transferred to get playing time or kicked off the team? We'll see how Crompton works out this year...again.
Actually, you're right. He sucked. He didn't play under Fulmer and Kffin had the same opinion on him. He was a local hometown hero and thats why people wanted him to play. If he was a legitimate SEC quarterback then he would not be playing for UT chattanooga right now (oddly enough, where he is the local hero)
Fact is, he transfered because he wasn't going to be the starter.

Not to take anything anyway from Berry but its pretty easy to look great on a weak team under a great Defensive coordinator.
Also i think people forget chad jones has started maybe twice in two years. he was behind an all american craig steltz and curtis taylor who was drafted.
When chad jones has been in the game his presence has been felt. Also we all know LSu had their trouble on Defense last year but you must have forgotten that when they started chad jones at his natural position (chick fil-a bowl) he had an incredible game.
Another thing i have noticed about ya boy eric berry is he has interceptions against ryan perrillioux who was starting his second game ever. Also interceptions against south carolina (who has yet to find a qb) arkansas (whose qb was there best running back) and vanderbilt. Also he picked up tim tebow who isn't a good accurate passer and if you notice riley and tebow were not on the same page on that play.
I will also guarantee all of you haters will remember chad jones this year. The chief + natural position = success!
Well considering Berry didn't have an interception in only 4 games the entire year, your opinion is flawed and flatout dumb. How was the pick on Stafford? Is the #1 pick the NFL draft good enough for you?
And, I guess you can consider Chavis a "great defensive coordinator" for now. My advice is, just wait until you watch a few games and see when the Prevent defense is brought out in a close 4th quarter game and it costs you...

+1 on that. Even if he hasnt even gotten close to the success here at SC that he had at UF just as a figure he commands respect and is still someone you would like to take serious advice from if you were a coach.
I guess it will take an Alpha Male to get you your 5th bowl win in the history of the program

I love how this gets talked up so much when the players that left were either:
A) Walk-Ons
B) Low on the depth chart and transfered to get playing time
C) Kicked off the team

You guys only have 2 RB's not counting Creer/Brown/Oku.
And Hardesty is perma-injured. Poole has never played a down.
I call bullshite.
Well, unfortunately you don't have the ability to "Call bullshite" because you don't know what you are talking about.
Tauren Poole and Toney Williams are very high in Kiffin's plan. He wants to use them as the big and small back, much like Bush and White at USC. Also, Poole has taken snaps last season. If you watched the Orange and White game, this was obvious.
Hardesty is injury prone, however he was still ahead of Creer on the depth chart.
So, as I said before, Creer was 4th on Kiffin's depth chart BEFORE oku and brown came into play.

He was 4th on the depth chart before Bryce Brown and David Oku stepped foot on campus. Why wouldn't he transfer?

That would be Jajuan Smith, who drilled a three right after he said it. Any coach who talks trash or cusses out a player on an opposing team is a disgrace.

Ironic that Alabama fans believe this to be idiotic, yet they are the ones being investigated by the NCAA.
At the end of the day, the coaches are willing to cross the line into secondary violation territory to get recruits. Until the NCAA makes a legit punishment for the number of violations, why shouldn't they?

He is saying that there is a huge dropoff between the second and third sports on campus. Which is, in fact true, because the majority of people view college baseball as irrelevant. Even if we had a good team people wouldn't care. Just like nobody cares about the women's basketball team.

as anyone else noticed how Fulmer has suddenly gone from being a class act to a wussy.
Fulmer still is a class act, but people have been calling for his firing for quite some time. A change had to be made, and it ended up being Kiffin. We will see how it turns out.
Oh and claim that we paid Bryce Brown as much as you want, but he came here because Kiffin and Co are marketing us as a place where you can play instantly. He can come into the SEC and start and be gone in 3 years, which is precisely why he came.
quote:
I spoke with a UT fan while out of town last week. He could not stop talking about how much better UT is going to be because of Kiffen. Kiffen this and Kiffen that. He said the UT fan base has never been so energized.
What has Kiffen done to warrant this type of praise? How did a failed stint in the NFL legitimize this guy as serious coaching candidate?
The only thing this guy has going for him is the unknown.
It's a team whose fan base has been stuck with mediocrity the past several seasons. No matter what happened, we knew that with Fulmer we would win about 8 games and go to a second rate bowl. New blood into the program will automatically spark excitement.
As you said, nobody knows what is going to happen and the future is unknown. However, we can grade Kiffin on the two things he has done so far: Establishing a staff and a recruiting class. His staff automatically brought excitement because of the big names and the quality. They are the best recruiting staff in the country. Can they coach? Only time will tell.
As far as recruiting, he brought in a top 10 class in the country as well as the #1 overall player in the country in just 3 months. This is on top telling top name recruits to look elsewhere (Tajh Boyd). The fact that they could swing Bryce Brown into coming when he had never previously considered Tennessee warrants some excitement.
We will see how it works out for him. I am happy with the staff and our recruiting class, but the rest is unknown. He has said some dumb things that I am sure he regrets, but hopefully he will learn to keep his mouth shut about certain things. Once he does that, I will be glad to have a coach that doesn't back down like Fulmer. Only time will tell...
