After WWII America solidified its position as the most powerful nation on the planet, militarily, economically and culturally. Much of that power derives from our country’s relations and interactions with other nations. It’s not particularly hard to understand.
In cases of aid to populations in need
the benefit to the U.S. is obvious in most cases. Power abhors a vacuum. China, Russia and Iran will gladly fill that vacuum.
We can cooperate with, and provide assistance to, other countries and still take care of our domestic needs. It’s not a mutually exclusive choice…
