re: Ricky Seals-Jones: Odds on Where Nation's No. 1 Wide-Receiver Recruit Will Sign

Texas backs off a 5 star that is taking visits to USC and Oregon? Where have I heard this before? If LSU starts cooling on him, it will be a carbon copy of the Seastrunk recruitment.

Are they really brining this crap to the SEC?
Just wait til you see the turf. It's worse than Philly's old carpet at the Vet, and causes just as many torn ACLs.

Have you had enough time to google 'secondary violation'?
quote:
Secondary violation: A secondary violation is an isolated or inadvertent violation that provides or intends to provide only minimal recruiting, competitive or other advantages. Secondary violations do not include extra benefits or any significant recruiting benefits. If a school commits several secondary violations, they may collectively be considered a major infraction. Secondary violations occur frequently and are usually resolved administratively.
Sounds spot on, unless you think a head coach having in-person contact during a dead/quiet period should be considered a major violation.

There's nothing to worry about. Arkansas is calling it a bump, DGB's family is calling it a bump. Not the first time this sort of thing has happened in the SEC. At best it is a secondary violation which is almost an obligation to get each year in the SEC. Arkansas is punishing itself by not letting Petrino go when in all reality he probably could still go because the whole bumping in to him thing is such a grey area and would be tough for the NCAA to prove.
It's definitely a secondary violation because of when this happened. Petrino's essentially admitting that by staying away today, unless he's in the habit of confessing to violations he doesn't think he committed.

So you know exactly the circumstances of the contact? Was it in a parking lot? An alley? A restaurant? Star gazing on the RIverwalk? Did Petrino tell DGB to look through the window of the bar, so he could see Pinkel doing shots off of Yost's belly? Was Mack Brown in the bathroom changing his Depends when he overheard DGB and Petrino talking at the urinals? Did they watch Stoops lose a 'big game' of poker together? What happened? Do tell.
I don't know anything more than what's in the article, but the fact that Petrino's staying home because of this shows that he thinks what happened in San Antonio was sufficient to count as a recruiting contact/visit. Had Petrino just said "Hi. Can't talk. Bye." then I'm sure he'd still go on the visit. Obviously more than that occurred.
Regardless, you Hog fans keep saying that there's no violation as long as Petrino stays away today, which is true, but that's not all that the article said. Petrino had in-person contact with DGB sometime between January 4 and 12, which is a violation because that's a dead/quiet period. Your head coach screwed up in San Antonio and that's what you should be worried about.

I'm not really sure what you think the "situation" is here. All this means is BP can't do a final in home. It's not like we are going to get punished for this or anything.
Did you miss the part about this happening during a quiet or dead period when off-campus contact is forbidden? Having in-person contact with him in San Antonio was the recruiting violation. Petrino's probably not doing the in-home so UA can say they've already punished themselves when they self-report the violation.

They cheated by using substances to enhance their performance.
What about the Chinese gymnasts? They used athletes that were ineligible based on their age. They were retroactively disqualified and the second, third, and fourth place teams were moved up. What's the difference here?

i dont think he should be stripped he won the trophy on the field and you cant changed that
So did Ben Johnson. Should he have not been stripped of his gold medal? What about the Chinese womens gymnastics team? The Americans got the gold after it was determined that the Chinese used ineligible athletes. What's the difference? Letting cheaters keep their awards will only encourage more cheating.

He just named UCLA his leader. LSU, Nebraska, Michigan and Tennessee the rest of his top 5.

some two star guys make it. its a tiny percentage though.
They have the work ethic to keep learning their position.
Or they get stronger.

Your post is full of fail.
You're right he is 160 lbs (if that) back as a Sophmore. But then add 2 inches and 25 lbs and you have his current height and weight of 5'11" 185.
Thomas' best 100 meter is 10.60
Nothing like getting your facts straight. But of course Rivals needs to get their facts straight so you can be the de facto recruiting expert you think you are.
He runs a 10.99 FAT. He was thoroughly embarrassed at the Texas Relays. Your boy is slow. Congrats.

Agree that he's overrated. He's 160 lbs (if that) and runs a 10.99 100m. That's not a good recipe to be an elite college player.

That bench press number came from his Rivals profile. It's for 185, not 225.
