Winning cures ALL. IF we make playoffs, compete well, Zion and Griff will be fine. Jordan hated Krause but never thought about leaving Chicago.
Its just funny, that N.O. always has these type of stories come out, but u never heard about, in the monent, the in details when Kobe wanted out, when Melo wanted out bc of Linsanity, when Kyrie 1st wanted out of Cleveland (when news came out, it had been that way since the media sunshine pumped Bron, not mention Kyrie's heroics and Bron foolishly said the lil brother bit), u heard bits and pieces of the Durant riff in G.S., etc... Always seems like ALL of the behind the scenes news comes out with the Pels, dating back to the very day Hornets traded Chandler and Chris was incensed and the AD disgruntled bitchmade shite.
N.O. beat writers should keep they damn mouth shut about internal strife but they say the most to get a story. Im sure Giannis felt and said alot for years before last year and WE KNOW Dame done said alot more than whats known but its held close to the vest. Only in N.O. does ALL of the negativity come out and magnified 10fold.

Zion didnt play damn near his 1st year and last season was a Van Gundy, wtf?, mulligan year.... I expect Zion to finally enter this year in a comfort zone and ball out. Top 10 in the League by December. TOP 5 come playoffs. Top 3, if he can get us to Semis.
Side note: Durant is the BEST offensive scorer EVER in the League, Jordan included. Dude is unselfish and still drops 35+. If he had Jordan/Kobe mentality and was the TRUE PRIMARY/ONLY scoring option, he would likely avg. 40+ a night/career. I wish he would of had his OWN team, we would see what an absolute Monster he should have been. Last year playoff series against Bucks, Game 7, would be an every game occurence for KD.

Until the media stops pushing stars to the usual destinations and making it seem you cant win a small market, it will always be this way.

Tomas will be key running the 2nd team. I believe Tomas play will lead to him starting eventually. He is gonna be key to the Pels run.
Did Rodgers throw this game?
Posted by irvchilichill1 on 9/12/21 at 8:03 pm
After the 1st pick Rodgers threw it seemed apparent to me that he's nonchalant about this season. Sure, he did a few gestures of disappointment, but it just seemed he really mailed it in after that. The 2nd pick was ridiculous to throw up.
Saints D played well, taking nothing from them at all, but Rodgers sideline posturing was very telling.

Honestly, Kira will be an average player in this league.

I believe early on, Sato will beat out Kira to run the 2nd unit with the caveat that he might be a better fit to run with the starters. I keep saying dont sleep on Sato... Feels like he's ready to take off like Goran Dragic did unexpectedly with Phoenix.

If NAW starts, I would say no... He would probably need to be the 4th or 5th leading scorer if we are winning games. So, I would say 12.5 a game. If he is 3rd, then we actually may have an issue with Graham or Joe V not producing to their mean.
If Joe is not getting you 15+ per game, then he is likely missing easy mid range shots, the majority of his 3's, offensive rebounding and putbacks are lacking and he is not getting to the line and/or hitting them at a 75% rate. Not good. U then are repeating a Steven Adams scenario but 2x more frustrated bc Joe is actually better offensively than Adams by a considerable margin. Joe should put up 17+ way more efficiently than in Memphis bc he should not be a focal point of a team's defensive strategy to key on this team like he was in Memphis. His dirty work game cleaning up behind Zion's action should merit him 6 pts alone per game.
Joe has to be the 3rd leading scorer for this reset to pay dividends. Graham, NAW and in the 2nd half of the year, add Trey (some nights), being able to alternate games who's got the hot hand in a given game, but Joe V HAS to be the 3rd consistent scorer, which he is more than capable of. He was 2nd on Memphis. They made the Playoffs. He has to be 3rd here. Period.
NAW will be counted on along with Graham to take pressure off of BI with end of quarter looks and possibly BI decoying for Graham/NAW to get a few game winner attempts, whomever is feeling it a particular game.
Also, we have too much depth for NAW to not be 1st or 2nd subbed-in for, especially if he's not impacting early or struggling defensively on his man. Hart and Graham will average more minutes than NAW. So that puts him as a 6th man in minutes. Plus, I expect Naji to impose his will on the coaches to give him quality minutes with the starters this year as well.
If NAW can just give double digits starting then he is doing his job. Trey and Naji, are the 2nd unit scorers, along with Zion if we dont go with Jax at the 4. Hart is lagniappe across the board. Kira is the enigma bc he may struggle with his role if its Point Zion with the 2nd unit.
But, like I said, almost rather Hart start, let him guard the best peremiter player and have a bomb squad for a 2nd unit and allow Zion to play point and find the shooters.
I see Zion, BI and Joe as the 20 per night guys and the rest of the squad, any # of players, on a given night, chippin in 10+ by committee until someone asserts themself. Might not be NAW every night, but hopefully we may not HAVE to have him put up 15+ a night to win.
If NAW is averaging 17+ and Joe getting his 17... We are a Top 5 seed in the West.
28(Zion)+25(BI)+18(NAW)+17(JV)= 88
Thats alot from just 4 off the starting unit and thats not accounting for Graham who I expect to average, low double digits himself if he plays to what is expected of him.
Scoring will not be a problem this year, as a team, but NAW averaging 18 is not likely as a starter. Maybe at or after the All Star break if he's just ballin out and knocking down 3 or 4 three-pointers a game on 7-10 attempts.

Posted by irvchilichill1 on 9/2/21 at 8:34 pm
I for 1 am glad we missed on the "targets." That would have relegated us to mediocrity or less for an exorbitant amount and having to use assests to make moves.
Griff dodged a bullet that would have been self-inflicted.
This team will be just as good if Lowry was here and close to as good even if Paul, assuming both scenarios had them healthy. Lowry would of been catch and shoot like Lonzo and Point Zion is minimal if Paul was around, hoping he stays healthy and we can adjust proficiently if he's not...
Offseason is a B-. Joe, Graham, NAW, Trey and re-signing Hart is where our fortunes are to tied to this year. And not on the offensive end. Its defense mostly. 3 will determine whether we are better defensively. NAW and Graham will determine whether we score 110 a game and not be a negative overall. Period.
Its pretty clear how this team wins games this year. Push Zion, 3 pt kickouts, BI midrange, team defense, opportunistic transition similar to Warriors.

Maybe in the latter half, but early on Im just looking for double digits.

This team is Sooo much better to handle and sustain injuries. Even if Zion misses, we can still win games. The bench will be a STRENGTH this year. We counted on Reddick and Meli like someone earlier said.... and still won 31 games with injuries. We will be fine this year.

NAW will be good offensively. Thats his calling card to sticking in the League.
But, Im not so sure if he should start with the rest of the starters, maybe excluding Joe, not being considered good defensive players themselves.
Im thinking now Hart should start if Graham is the PG. We need SOMEONE with the starters to take the best wing player. Graham nor BI can right now guard elite players, although BI should be significantly better at Defense than he shows, but that may be due to his lack of weight/strength and/or having to conserve energy for offensive end.
If the goal is to have a fresher BI in the 4th so he doesnt run out of gas like many times last year, then Hart needs to start to take that burden off BI. Especially if Hart can bounce back with his shooting to keep teams honest.
Plus, NAW would be ideal this year as the 6th man and lead the 2nd unit's offensive attack with Naji and Trey. Kira would just need to set them up and they could really be a bomb squad with Jaxson's value being a force at getting offensive rebounds and tip outs for extra possessions/3 ptrs.
Let Hart start, increase his value hopefully due to being a solid "starting" 3&D guy and wait for teams to start possibly selling off star players at the deadline. Its a win-win.
I know Griff has this in mind so he welcomes open competition for the 2guard spot, despite reports of him demanding NAW start. And if they both struggle out the gate as starters, I see 3M3 sliding in and never relinquishing it from that point on.
Just dont think he is physically ready this year nor should he bear the difficult responsibility to guard the big dogs, but he may be the best one overall in giving what this team will need next to BI.
All else fails, I have no reservations in throwing out Straitjacket Jones with the starters and seeing if it gels. For some reason I think dude will be the suprise player for us this year. Idk when, but I can envision him getting significant minutes down the stretch and in the playoffs. He ran alot of point forward at Alabama last year and did well. Would like to see if he could replicate that success on this team.

Well now we see why we didnt just do a Hart for Markannen swap. Chicago obviously wanted Hart and 1st round pick (even if it had protections that make it likely to convert to 2nd round picks), which Griff may have done.
The deal breaker for Griff and most of the NBA was Lauri's salary number demands. $17 mil per year??? Wow. Not worth it. If we wouldnt do $20 mil for Lonzo, then Griff was never doing even $15 mil per for Mark. Too injury prone and would be cost ineffective for a backup 4/5.
Thats starter money. Right now, Lauri cant be counted on to start, from an injury and production consistency standpoint. The risk for that contract to be a negative asset is far too possible for the Pels to take, especially in the midst of getting Zion to sign his inevitable supermax deal.
Well now I feel much better on missing out on Lauri. Hart's contract looks even better than it already does when considering the alternative and giving up a lottery protected, 1st round pick. Hard Pass.
Side note: Chicago did rather well to get Derrick Jones Jr. as well. He's Josh Hart lite with way more athletic ability and jumps out the gym (Dunk champion). Still has room to grow and is a solid backup 3. Portland got in on the deal and got Nance Jr. for a late 1st/2nd round pick. Not a needle mover for Dame, but not a bad deal. Actually helps out Portland and Nance may do really well having more space to operate in the paint bc of better spacing than he ever had in Cleveland or Brooklyn. Nance may help Portland climb 1 seed spot from where they would have been. Nance averages 10 and 9. Pick and pop with Dame and CJ will help increase his scoring average. Now they replaced some of Melo's production and got more defense which is what Portland has always needed to take another step. Makes me slightly wonder again if we passed Portland. Without Melo, yeah, but replacing him with Nance, I still say we are better but Nance is a good defender to try to limit Zion's play.

re: Nerlens Noel suing everyone’s favorite agent
Posted by irvchilichill1 on 8/27/21 at 10:42 am
The lawsuit states that Rich Paul withheld offers, so Noel wouldn't even have the option to accept if he didn't know they existed. That's the sticking point.
And its a valid assertion, one that if it were completely true, would constitute an injury and should merit a compensatory judgment in his favor.
I didnt touch upon it for a few simple reasons. I don't believe it to necessarily true bc 1.) Noel wasn't worth more than that particular offer from the Mavs as he was not a Stretch 5 and he got hurt, to boot 2.) Noel's value was declining due to the traditional Center position overall's worth to team building being of less importance. 3.) Klutch Sports has the league hostage right now and they are securing above market deals for nearly everyone of their clients. 4.) Noel KEPT Klutch as his agent presumably AFTER allegedly learning of the transgressions 5.) Noel sues Klutch ONLY AFTER Paul files his grievance.
Nevermind "learning of" alleged, withheld offers, one would think Noel would have fired Paul immediately after the Mavs contract was off the table bc he hired Paul solely to beat the Mavs offer. Soon as that didnt materialize and I've lost millions and become a laughingstock, one would reasonably assume a person would fire the agent ASAP. That didnt happen here and that is Noel's biggest problem to his assertions.

Noel's case will get dismissed on summary judgment if its an uncontroverted fact, that Noel met Paul at a party and Paul suggested he declined the Mavs deal before contractually becoming his agent. Sounds like Karma playing a part, bc I'm more than sure Noel had an agent, via contract, at the time he talked to Paul. Its the old adage, grass aint always greener on the other side.
Also, despite losing out on the deal allegedly on the advice of Paul, he still retained his services up until 6 months ago.
An agent is like a stockbroker or investment banker or lawyer. You, the client, pay them for their perceived, advanced knowledge of a discipline or field that you have not studied yourself/procured necessary license. However, regardless of the advice, good or bad, the client is the one that ultimately decides how to proceed based on the info provided by the agent or whomever, which is standard language in a contract.
Im sure Klutch's contract has a disclaimer or clause stating all of the above, in considerable detail.
If such is the case and from what has been admitted to by Noel, in his own pleadings, dude ain't getting shite. Talk about opening Pandora's box.
Unless he can clearly PROVE malpractice on Paul's part, which is far more difficult than most people realize, in a court of law, then he just lost more money suing to get legally told he was stupid not to take the bag.
I guess he got the feels again, dejavu or embarrassed all over again bc his name was brought up in relation to Dennis Schroeder's debacle. Get used to it Nerlens everytime this scenario happens regardless of sport.
Dennis like, "I hope justice is served, so I can follow the blueprint to getting what's mine." And it will be, recognize when u are getting a fair deal and stop being greedy. This is just the other side of betting on one's self. He lost.

Kira is so not Bobby Jack. Not physically strong like Bobby and likely wont ever be regardless of his physical maturation. Kira, at least now, does not drive with intentions of creating physical contact like Jack. Nor does he shoot with confidence like Jack, currently. People forget, but it seems like B Jack was the 1st to consistently use the step back to create space for his jumper. Step back Bobby Jack was always said on SportsCenter (Craig Kilborn) when he played for the Kings. Nostalgia.
If Kira comes close to Bobby Jack during his career, and stays with the Pels, we will be contending for years to come.

Nothing to see here... Except Spencer showing off his personality, which is cool and his utmost confidence in his game, which is critical to any player's consistency. Dude looks like a modern day, young Julius Erving.
NAW has defensive limitations and actually kinda concerns me when watching him play from that camera angle ... He's still rather thin for his frame, it appears he's a little slow-footed with his initial, lateral recovery steps on defense and he seems to still be unsure of how to position himself when navigating the balance between playing up on his man and avoiding getting blown by bc I suspect he knows he struggles in anticipating when a player is gonna drive versus a quick jumpshot.
Now, it very well could all be chalked up to him seemingly disinterested, tired or by design of the practice, but even if, I now have a better appreciation of why he may never become an above-average defender. NAW will HAVE to become WAY more cerebal in his defensive game to be consistently successful. And that mainly comes from intense film study and learning someone's tendencies, go to moves, favorite spots on the court and the slight clues a player does when initiating their patented moves relative to where they are at on the floor. NAW is going to have to learn some defensive tricks.
Hopefully, NAW and the team will be better at overall team defense and producing within the system Coach Green utilizes.
Lastly, Spencer looks healthy. I think he shines in Washington this year. I was hoping the Pels took a hard look at him bc I feel he was on the cusp of being a firm All-Star type player before the injury. And now I see why. His personality is someone who is sure of himself and lets others know it constantly. Jordan was the master of this and psyched players out before the game even started many times.

U trippin dude... If Pels could swipe 2 players off just the Atlanta bench, say Cam Reddish or Bogdanovich and a Jalen Johnson, we would be saying this team is Top 3 in the West and legit title contenders if everyone played to their basic potential.
Atlanta goes into the season as a projected 2nd seed and 1st if the Big 3 for Brooklyn has a few setbacks like this past year. Every 1 of Atlanta's players should further develop and be even better this year even if its nominal, sans Solo.
Dunno what u thinking my man. They beat Philly (again), Heat (in 6), and Celtics (not even close). They were healthy Trey and Cam from beating Milwaukee this past year and they lost P.J. Tucker and Forbes (in 6).
Barring internal strife or a rash of key injuries, as the Eastern teams are constituted, TODAY (reserving right to change one's opinion at the trade deadline bc of possible blockbuster trades obviously), Brooklyn is their only barrier to a Finals appearance this year.

Ryan Anderson did underachieve after Year 1. Injuries had alot to do with it, but nonetheless, he did not live up to the contract he got.
I still say Dell, overall, wasnt as bad a GM as believed and would have succeeded if those teams could have stayed healthy and if he would have got anyone worth a damn instead of Asik, who looked solid in Chicago, no longer needed in Houston bc of the Howard acquisition, but ultimately became an instant relic and liability with the onset of small ball and the 3pt. revolution.
Also, during his tenure, its well known that in the 2012 AD draft, the player that went 1 before the Pels #10 pick, Andre Drummond, is who Dell absolutely wanted to pair AD with, and thought Detroit wouldnt draft him bc of Greg Monroe and Villanueva looking like the future frontcourt for years to come, but had to settle for Austin Rivers.
That changed the fate of the Pels with the later offseason moves Dell eventually made. What coulda been...

'21 Pels... Better than '20 Hawks. Dead Serious. If NAW gives you Bogdanovic type impact and Trey gives you Gallinari timely 3's, our superstars are better than theirs.
Now, I didnt say '21 Hawks bc I believe they are officially a bonafide contender after the draft. They hands down have the best bench in the League. Their 2nd unit could be a legit starting 5 if it was 2 years from now. They have no dropoff at any position and Cooper/Johnson is Trey/Collins lite. No need to run different sets. Plug and play. If Cam is the same guy from here on out that he was in their last game, its Brooklyn and Altanta in the East and I honestly think its 50/50.
