Any chance we get to play to the Aggies on Turkey Day?
Posted by TammanyMan02 on 10/16/11 at 11:09 pm
With the longhorns acting like pansy-asses, can we jump at this opportunity to re-kindle a rivalry with A&M in front of a national audience?
It seems like a home-and-home with these guys on Thanksgiving Day would generate a LOT of interest (and $$$) for both schools.

Off the top of my head, A&M could help bring us:
-A worldwide alumni base of over 500,000.
-The nation's 7th-largest university.
-As for football, the Aggies are coming off of a 9-4 Cotton Bowl season that included wins over Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska. A&M is ranked 9th entering the 2011 season and Mike Sherman currently has a top-5 recruiting class in place (Class of 2012). Focus on the past ten years if you're trying to break down the Ags' resume but A&M is a rapidly-improving program. Show me a program that hasn't had a lean few years during the last 20. Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma, USC, Miami and LSU have all gone through it until hiring the right head coach, while Tennessee, Georgia, Michigan and Notre Dame are all trying to pull themselves out of multi-season funks.
-Gameday atmosphere and tradition that fits in with the pageantry of the SEC.
-A solid academic reputation, one that includes being an AAU accredited institution (Florida and Vandy are currently the only two SEC schools carrying that label).
-A stadium with a capacity of over 90,000.
-Texas television market, which could bring every SEC team up from $18 million annually to somewhere in the neighborhood of $24-$26 million per team. As Andy Staples pointed out in his article, the Texas market alone would represent a (edit) 42% increase in the SEC's "footprint" (bumping up the numbers from 83.4M people from 58.6M). That's taking the SEC footprint from 19 to 27% of the U.S. population, including two of the nation's top ten media markets.

the split was about 55-45 tamu. We had a LOT of fans there, too. Nothing major in terms of a home field advantage for them like I was worried about.
re: 12th man = WEAK

It was only 1/2 tamu fans ans 1/2 lsu fans... So I'm sure they weren't "impressed" with us either, retard.
That said, a home-home series with them would be fun. I've been to Kyle Field before with aggie engineers in the oilfield, it was actually a very fun place to watch a football game as a neutral observer.

I am able to spotlight hogs with ease on our place in Texas using our Ranger.
I even had a second 12-v plug installed in the dash by the dealer so that we can run 2 spotlights simultaneously.
They mind the light more than they do the noise of the engine, so we've started using red lenses. They'll just sit there and feed while we get ready to put the ARs into the action.

Miles to Michigan... his "dream job"

Got a phone call today from a buddy in Baton Rouge saying that there may really be something to all of this conversation. He thinks we'll know one way or the other the day following the Cotton Bowl, as Miles doesn't want to get players upset either way.
I don't really care one way or the other, but who are realistic candidates for us if this happens?

I have a Polaris Ranger XP and love it. I had a Kawaski Mule that I sold to a buddy at work before that... and won't ever go back to the Kawasaki's after driving the Ranger.
It's 4 years old now and has had zero problems. It has only been back to the dealer twice in those 4 years for routine check-ups.
**Edit: Forgot about the Electric part. Mine is gas-powered, but it's quiet enough not to disrupt the wildlife any more than normal human presence.

54-9 LSU. SEC Dominates and the only player to put points on the board for them is their place kicker... which should have been an LSU Tiger. Our staff just moved too slow.
Aggies starting RB out for the Cotton Bowl, too...
Posted by TammanyMan02 on 12/27/10 at 5:18 pm
Christine Michael had a season-ending injury and won't be playing for A&M in the Cotton Bowl.
:geauxtigers:
Should be an interesting game with both teams losing their starting RB for the bowl game.

Cotton Bowl: Thoughts on Texas A&M

Here's what a guy from work sent me, and I'm still doing some research on my own. What do you guys think about this team/matchup?

Good morning, Tiger Fans. The LSU football team will return to practice today and will practice Tuesday and Wednesday before taking off four days for the Christmas holiday. The team will return to practice Monday, December 27 and will practice Monday through Thursday before departing for Arlington Texas on Saturday, January 1. All LSU practices for the Cotton Bowl are closed to the media. A few players are allowed to meet with the media a few times but are not allowed to talk about what goes on in practice.
LSU will be playing a very good Texas A&M team who believe they have a great chance of defeating LSU. Texas A&M is a very balanced team between the pass and the run. A&M rushed for 165 yards per game and Cyrus Gray, the team's leading rusher, averages 86 yards per game. The Aggies passed for 282 yards per game with Ryan Tannehill at quarterback. Tannehill is a converted wide receiver who has completed 130 of 199 passes for 1,434 yards. Tannehill has thrown for 11 touchdowns and has only thrown three interceptions. Jarrod Johnson opened the season as the Aggies' starting quarterback and was very productive. Johnson completed 158 of 279 passes for 1,947 yards, but did throw nine interceptions.
The game is a huge one for both teams. A&M has been down for the last few years and a win over LSU would gain a lot of respect for the Aggies. LSU head coach Les Miles and offensive coordinator Gary Crowton have come under fire this season for being inconsistent on offense. LSU will have a great chance to win the game if they can establish a passing game early in the contest. The Aggies allow 240 yards per game passing and only 117 yards per game rushing. LSU should be able to throw the ball against the Aggies' defense and that should open up the running game. As a rule, teams use the running game to open up the passing game but I think this game will be different.
Texas A&M has a solid field goal kicker in Randy Bullock who is 15 of 19 with a long of 50 yards. The Aggies have also been very productive in the redzone, 42 for 48 with 30 touchdowns and 12 field goals. Texas A&M averages 36 yards per punt which is not that good. They average 24 yards on kick returns which is pretty good and 7.1 yards on punt returns. As for time of possession, Texas A&M average 30:15 compared to 29:45 for their opponents.

You realize that A&M has a very good defense, too... and their kicker is as good, or better, than Jasper.
While I think we win this one... it won't be because of "all Jasper and defense."
