Why would he discuss that with Verge?

Because Verge is in the AD leadership group and I’m sure would need to be looped in those decisions.
I live in PHX - he won’t leave. ASU is his dream school, his Alma mater, and he thinks he can turn ASU into a powerhouse with the talent around here.
Matthew Langlois is the DB
Marcus Freeman would be a GREAT hire at LSU.
If Riley is a smokescreen then things are set up for a classic Scott move…hire the person no one is talking about.

Which is why I think Marcus Freeman could be in play. Woodward knows him from last year DC chase and probably recognize the hit rate for Coordinators have been higher than sitting HCs.

Simply a guess IF LR is really a smokescreen.

There's OU fans on the forum I'm reading using your post as proof he isn't leaving lol, link the article you're referring to.

It wasnt an article, his response was on pg 7 of one of their pinned threads on the subject.

Without getting into too many details of what I’ve been told, this isn’t going to happen. Lincoln Riley is staying at Oklahoma.

This is what he posted on their board 40 mins ago…
Yep a true insider. The Mod for their 24/7 site
Yeah that’s interesting Chicken. Lots of excuses in this thread, however I would point out that OSU also looked bad early in the year and then figured it out.
He’s not supposed to beat Texas. He’s supposed to beat Troy, App State, Liberty which he’s done.

Napier to Florida is bad for LSU. He would clean up in recruiting there (with ties to Fl, GA, and LA) and his teams would be much more sound than what the Gators have been.
Napier. Has experience recruiting top tier talent and also has experience developing lower star recruits. Also knows the lay of the land for recruiting and personnel development relationships.

Both are program builders though

Why is Napier so above paying his dues and going to a stepping stone power 5 job?

Because it’s not a requirement. Ask Ryan Day, Lincoln Riley, Kirby Smart etc.

Couldn’t handle the stress of Washington he’s not coming here!

That’s Chris Petersen. OP is referring to the former Eagles coach who won a super bowl.

re: Are Riley's teams soft

Yes, Riley teams are soft because he is soft. But he was raised in a soft football world.

He played at TTU. Coached at ECU. He was brought in by Stoops to OU to play an even more finesse style than Sumlin/Heupel did at OU.

When you have inside and outside receiver coaches on your staff, you tend to be soft.
What’s the buyout looking like when he takes an nfl gig
No.

We are fans of LSzu so we will always see it in a golden light. But the “big name” coaches may not come for various reasons: timing, geographical considerations, unwanted pressure cooker situations.

A lot of these big fish names became big fish in their current jobs - only ones that didn’t is Saban and jimbo. And Saban became a big fish at LSU.

Guys like Riley, Kelly, Dabo, Smart became big fish in their big job now. That could happen to Napier if he comes LSU

Well who is this smart guy? Say his name, dammit.

Kirby Smart…
