It wasn't a fantasy or something that I wanted. I just saw this photo in the daily mail and interpreted incorrectly. Thanks for letting me know.

re: Question about the west coast and central air

The overwhelming majority of California less than 10 miles from the coast is A/C free. That's probably close to half the state population.

They still do have "alerts" but smog isn't an issue for most angelenos. The last stage 3 smog alert in the city of LA was over 40 years ago. The last stage 2 alert was over 30 years ago. The last stage 1 alert was over 20 years ago. They had to change the scale so that there would still even be alerts. For reference the city of LA typically had the equivalent of 100-200 stage 1 alerts annually in the 50's and 60's.
I moved here in the 90's and it's like night and day. And it was already considerably better.

re: Where would you live in Houston if your budget was 750-800K (Mostly Inner Loop)?

That may be true where you live but in many cities, like where I live, that affords typical suburbia around 1,500 square feet or a condo in the city around 900 square feet.

Not as familiar with Houston but in general this is terrible advice. Being close to work is indeed a quality of life issue. Two hours a day in a car means spending 15-20% of your life in a car, not counting sleep.

Mostly ugly. Like a Slavic language sounds to us I think.

In my opinion the best English accent is West Indian. It has a rhythm to it.

Unfortunate. I'm sure that there were good people on both sides.

JFC. An industry devoted to skin lightening in the Philippines is equivalent to slavery and Jim Crow?!? I'm done.

That's terrible. It's a lot like how native Americans were treated here.

I assume that you mean Germany. If so there were about 144,000 Jews killed in Germany. LINK
Either way I'm not sure that deserves a laugh emoticon, but whatever.

How did Israel manage 400 years of oppression in just 70 years of existence? Same for Singapore? And Zimbabwe is even younger!

None of those enslaved a race for 400 years. You have to go back to Moses for that.
I guess that it's hard to classify one pain as worse than another, but none of those countries aside from South Africa systematically and legally enforced racial discrimination for decades.

I've been to several. Ask an Egyptian what race they are. They won't even know what you're talking about.

Most countries don't divide people by race. Even in multi-racial countries.

Please reread what I posted and review your responses. Especially the hundreds of years bits as well as the by law parts.
