We had signals to steal in that game?

You sure?

Eh, this season is proof that maybe we shouldn't say stuff like this.
I wouldn't be surprised if Bama still makes it in.

Part of this stuff is your record, and part of this stuff is business decisions for tv contracts.
Doubt this will happen, but I'm positive this is the last time we shackle ourselves to someone for 10 years at this contract price (and who has never won an NC).

If we can't stop the running qb, we're in for a long game.

Agree with this.

Kelly is making Fortune 500 ceo money.

Players are getting paid now.

People are still paying for their tickets to see the game.

When things start to get this transactional, I think the boos should be unsurprising when there’s an unsatisfactory performance.
Our record against bama is 4-16 since 2008.

While I think it’s mostly in our heads, it’s clear that stuff like this also plays a part : The facts.

It’s a fact that Alabama is historically better than us.

It’s also a fact that when we play each other, we usually lose.

As much as we don’t want it to, I believe it creates a feeling of “quitting in advance”. (We normally lose this game, so why fight back if we’re losing”?)

I think the ultimate answer comes down to having a head coach who understands the importance of 2 things:

1. Believing in your team more than they believe in themselves

2. Understanding that when you’re up against someone better than you, you don’t play not to lose, because you usually will. You raise hell and throw everything you can at that opponent until the clock hits 0:00.
At the end of the day, this is it.

He has 60+ million guaranteed reasons not to give a damn.

Have we crossed the 50 yet?
Eh, can't say I agree.

I sometimes think we have a tendency to think we're better than we actually are -- when in fact no one in the SEC is suffocating the conference anymore.

i know you mean well, but loyalty shouldn't be a thing.

Produce or put someone in who can.

I think Nuss has a lot of potential (as does everyone else) but at some point, it has to be actualized or we have to move on.

I don't see that 'it' factor in him that I saw in JB/JD. I'm 100% convinced that if baker was coaching our D last year, we would've won the NC with Jayden.

I have next to no confidence that Nuss can get us there at his current level.
Yeah, that's my concern.

When your net worth is set to grow another 9 figures, where does the fire come from to do an elite job, knowing you'll still keep part of it even if you get fired?

That's a deeper drive only you can give yourself at that point.
I dunno if he'll be on the hot seat at his current buy out. If this trend continues by end of year 4, then I can see it.

However, I do think this era of fat contracts for non-nc winners needs to simmer down.

I remember throwing mine every time the ref threw a flag.

Good times.

He was so calm during all the build up then he won he seemed very calm as well. I expected more emotion but, just as during games, he was level and composed.

Exactly what I want from our quarterbacks. Seems to be working quite well for us.
Yup. Kelly definitely pulled House’s card at half time.

Our guys went from clueless to laser-focused in the second half.
Sometimes I wish our staff would keep these things secret
He helped us win in 2019.

Yes, he will always be a Tiger.

On a side note, I couldn't imagine busting my as year in and out for a coaching staff who has no idea what they're doing.

Just thinking about it blows my mind.

Just like in 2012 when we couldn't cross the 50-yard line in the NC after a record defensive performance.

I feel the reason we've had a massive exodus over the year is that there hasn't been much buy-in overall.

Meanwhile, compared to Bama for example - It's an easier call to stay that next year when you know your chances of a playoff appearance are pretty high.

Ex: "If I stay, we're probably going to make another national championship run, so I want to experience what most athletes don't. THEN I'll go pro."

A literal win/win.

So really, when I think of any player in this kind of "controversy", I think of the coaches who created this environment.

I hope Brian Kelly can bring that back to the program.
