Where to stay for regional round?

Posted by k wilk on 5/24/25 at 12:46 pm
Planning to attend the regional and looking for recommendations for a decent area to stay. I haven't been to BR in a long time, but I know traffic and crime are OOC. Any suggestions for areas to stay and / or avoid are appreciated.
The only thing I wish to contribute to this thread is that the CVT sucks, as already mentioned.
Yall are looking at this the wrong way. The guy was trying to literally keep the roof over his head, thereby avoiding catastrophic damage and saving his house. You think he's worried about some shingle repairs? I know I wouldn't be. I'd be ecstatic for the opportunity to make shingle repairs.

I don't think this is how you hoped this thread would go
Huh, issues are so bad they recalled them again.
So, building the patio deck around a tree makes it a treehouse?
She wasn't my friend growing up, but I met her in college. Dated her for three years then married her. Still married 14 years later.

Sounds like just about anywhere in rural America. City people passing through and think they are superior to the small town people. Shocker.

I'm from WM, so I know white trash and rednecks when I see 'em. I'm not a city slicker and don't think I'm above small town people. Every time I pass through, I feel like I'm in WM.

How so

Driving through Lufkin on 59 reminds me of WM. Just a bunch of restaurants and retail stores. Seems like 90% of them are the same as the ones in WM. Bunch of white trash just like WM too. I don't know anything about living or raising a family there, though.
I have said for years that Lufkin is Texas's West Monroe.

He ran a 6:54 in 1st grade. He's in 3rd grade now. They must run a sub 7 to qualify for the race at the end of the school year.

I think 7:29 for his first time is good. My 8 year old ran a 6:29 a couple months ago and has been sub 7:00 for the last couple years. He is really fast for his age, though, and he loves to run. No formal training, but they run track at school during P.E. It comes naturally for him.

On the other hand, my 12 year old looks like he has cinder blocks tied around his feet when he runs. He can run a sub 7:00 mile, but he will have to work hard to do it. Definitely does not come naturally for him.
It is quite literally a one stop shop for everything. You can get gas, eat, use a clean restroom, and do your Christmas shopping for everyone.

Isnt his daughter a Houston sports reporter?

She used to be on channel 2 but left a few years ago. If she is on TV again, I'd like to know where. She is finer than sifted flour.

re: Playoff Dusty vs. Playoff Bochy

The Astros have found ways to overcome Dusty's inability / reluctance to put the best 9 on the field time and time again, and I think they do it again against the Rangers.

Dusty will put out a lineup that makes everyone scratch their heads, and the players will make that irrelevant. I don't think Dusty is the x-factor with this team. They have too much talent up and down the lineup and on the pitching staff, which I think should minimize the number and magnitude of actual managing decisions.

Paw paw needs to sit in the dugout and focus on sucking toothpicks.
TIL T.J. Finley is the sophomore starting QB at TX State.

Reed Arena across the street. About a 5 minute walk, depending how close you park. Not bad at all.
