I think Derek Dooley from La Tech to Miss St is more likely than Tub

I hear that Chavis has definitely been contacted and the chance of him at LSU as DC next year is very high. Coach O will be D-Line Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. I expect all of this to happen, but in a manner that will be respectful to the departing coaches

Patrick Peterson... Really?

Then they should've called time out. You don't leave a play like that up to chance. Hawkins was burned repeatedly throughout the day.

Name one freshman or sophmore nationwide that has been successful in the secondary

Where was the safety help? It was a bad call by the coaches. Why do play calls always come in late? It was a huge play. Call a timeout if the defense isn't set or someone is hurt.

Agree 100% Chad Jones is a very good player that will play on Sunday. He is a difference maker. I bet you didn't think he was overrated when he sacked JP Wilson last year for the fumble. These kids are 18 to 22 years old. They aren't robots. You have ups and downs. I think you will eat your words before his career is over.

Yeah I watch football. In fact I was at the game yesterday. Chavis has recruited and player against SEC oppponents for a long time. He could get it done. Chizik wouldn't leave Iowa State for a DC position. I guess you saw plenty of Chizik when they dominated A&M. In fact are you going to drop football at A&M? Might as well

Ok if you don't like Orgeron, then you have to like John Chavis. He will be available after Fulmer is gone
Great question. The edge was open all day. Toss right or left, misdirection and play action QB keeper was open all day. If we HAD to throw, why didn't we throw to Byrd. He was beating his man every play.

Both need to be removed as far from play calling duties as possible. We should be searching for a DC right now before they are all gone. We should be on the phone with John Chavis and Ed Orgeron today.
You can always tell when Miles is calling the plays. Charles Scott off tackle right or left... At Kentucky on 4th down... This year anytime on 3rd and short

re: Gift idea for Mallory and Peveto

Nobody is claiming that the offense isn't down. The defense needs a new face and scheme. John Chavis from Tennessee would be a good choice. BTW LSU will win another crystal football before Texas. Another thing Arkansas scored 22 points in overtime and Kentucky scored 16 points in overtime. LSU's defense was better last year because of the better leaders at each level (line, linebacker and DBs). Not to worry though, Mallory and Peveto will not be back at DC. If they get to stay on as position coaches, then that would be the best gift they could hope for.
I'm not upset about the coaches' demeanor on the sideline. Every coach has their own style. I think it hard for some fans to understand why Miles isn't blowing up when the team is playing so poorly. I have to give Miles credit because he understands how to handle emotion in game situations. I think the real problem this year is that coaches and players were reading too many press clippings. I think Miles lost a little of the edge that he had the last few years and just assumed that we would just continue to blow people off the line. This year has taught him a lesson. He will respond... I just hope it is with a new DC.
I agree. Just ask the Arkansas kicker Tejada. Petrino screamed at him for missing some kicks against ULM earlier in the year, and he hasn't been the same since. Coaches have to know each player and how they will respond to different methods of correction.

I think we should go after John Chavis from Tennessee. Tenuta is an excellent defensive coach, but I don't think he would come here because of some bad history. Chavis has been in the SEC for a long time. He would be a perfect fit.
"...What if when you were at work and you messed on something the boss comes in and in front of everybody starts yelling at you. You seriously think that will make you want to do it better?... Just get annoying."

You sound like the Alabama players that Saban had last year. Complaining about the tough demands and the discipline. FYI big time football requires big time sacrifice. If you don't like the demands and pressure, go play somewhere else. I'm not suggesting screaming at a player for every mistake. I'm demanding accountability for every play.
Great point... All great coaches are great teachers first. They only blow up when you make a mistake that they've worked on multiple times. The LSU defense isn't getting the teaching. In the Ole Miss game the DBs were looking at each other after plays like they were all lost. If you teach and expect excellence, then that is what you will get. The offense will get better if Miles will leave Crowton alone. The defense needs a new face and scheme.

re: Crowton

Posted by ABHoops33 on 11/27/08 at 9:45 am to
Crowton is an offensive genius. If Les "off tackle right or left" Miles would stay out of the offensive huddle. Don't forget about the Ohio State game last year. Crowton used almost every option at his disposal. Crowton knows how to ring up the points. The problem is the Big Ten style defense that is being forced on our SEC athletes. We need to go after John Chavis from Tennessee. With LSU's talent he could bring back the Saban killer instinct on defense.

re: Kiffin Impact on LSU

Posted by ABHoops33 on 11/27/08 at 9:28 am to
Kiffin doesn't concern me at Tennessee. I think he is overrated. I'm not saying that Kiffin isn't a very talented play caller. I would be very concerned about Mike Leach or Brian Kelly at Tennessee. With a top notch coach at Tennessee, the SEC will be impossible. A two loss season would be a good year. If you are looking for a coach at Tennessee to take recruits from Saban, it's only wishful thinking. Saban would just sleep less (30 minutes instead of an hour). Saban is a maniac. We don't need a coach at another SEC school to help against Saban. We need our coaches to bring back the aggressive defense and a little creativity on offense. We have the talent... All we need is the killer instinct back.
LSU's defense last year had an experienced playmaker at each level (d-line, linebackers, cornerbacks and safety). As for Pelini, I think he adapted his style after the second half comeback by Tennesse in 2005. Pelini attempted to play a soft zone and a don't lose mentality. He heard the cries of Tiger Fans and became extremely aggressive. This year the co-DCs haven't adapted to anything. Yes, our offense has struggled, but Saban won with incapable quarterbacks. If Tennesse gets an offensive minded coach, then an undefeated season in the SEC will become nearly impossible. We need to get one defensive coordinator with an aggressive man to man, in your face defense. It has worked in the past, and it can work again.
