He actually won the 2nd event of the year on Lake Norman with the NPFL. A bunch of the old school guys seem to really like the NPFL with the no scoping.

The DQ from the Big O was rather egregious from listening to the other anglers that are familiar with the situation and have spoken out about it. Even though the info he got was 3 months before the tournament, he actively participated and sought info during the no info window and it was caught on film. That’s an instant DQ no matter how you read the rules. BASS let him save face on that one but he was under a microscope.

The rumor is it was him or Matt Robertson which would make sense. The reality is that anglers are supposed to report rule infractions or they can be subject to penalties as well. I don’t dislike Scott Martin but it sounds like he has made a career out of bending the rules and it’s no secret amongst his peers. Anglers wanted a level playing field and they BASS is making the hard decisions.

Guys like Hackney, Swindle, Gufsafson and Feider have gone on podcasts in the last month and all been very open about how they feel about the Scott Martin’s DQ at Okeechobee. They all have said that he has a history of doing the same thing for years. I was pissed that BASS allowed Scott Martin to control the narrative and he claimed that he self reported, he certainly did not and he asked for info on video.

He decided to quit Bass to save face because he was about to get DQ’d for asking for info during the off limits for the second consecutive event. He can step back and focus on social media and be fine but his credibility as a professional angler is shot. From listening to other anglers, this was a long time coming, as he has a long history of bending/breaking rules. BASS has had a rough couple of years but atleast they didn’t show favoritism toward one of their biggest stars.

House and Senate?

With Trump running up decent margins, what are the realistic expectations for these races. I thought 53 was close to the cap for the Senate and the House would be close but we may see some Republicans get pulled across the finish line. Any guesses?

I had mine repaired with my patella tendon and it was terrible pain for about five days. Once I forced myself to get out of bed to get some sunshine, my attitude changed and it was much better. Make sure you bust your arse with PT, it hurts and it’s miserable but it’s worth it.
The Americans and Justified are both incredible.

If you want to make the run to Chandelier Islands or anywhere in Breton Sound, I would go with a 24’ bay boat of you preference. Lake Borgne can get bad, but most of Biloxi Marsh/Shell Beach/MRGO can be done with a smaller boat.
If we get a hard freeze, you can catch redfish by the drawbridge on Florissant Hwy in Shell Beach but there will be 400 people and game wardens. Hwy 23 or Hwy 1 are your best bets for roadside fish.
I do my best to catch a few games here and there. I’m pissed that I have to fly to Tampa for a wedding and will miss the dome experience. It’s nice to see the Greenies play well, there is considerably more talent than when we were there.
Ponchatoula on offense has a more than serviceable QB (Tribble), 3 very good receivers (Walker, Osby, and Finley), and a stud RB (Johnson). On defense, the DT (Livers) is legit, MLB (Monistere) is a playmaker, and in the secondary (5 star Matthews and Gaten). Jacoby Matthews will play some snaps at receiver from time to time and Brayden Johnson will get snaps at Linebacker.

I caught 84 keeper white trout/specks mixed just drifting reefs on lakes/bays north of the MRGO long rocks two weeks ago. Tons of small fish but we picked through and put together a really good box. That area is so big, so fish fast. If you pull up on birds or an oyster reef, give it 5 minutes and move. Once you catch a few, then you can alter presentation and change color to dial it in. I look for clean water, bait, moving water, slicks, structure, and basically anything that is different. It’s so easy to get lazy while out there but if you fish fast, you will catch more fish 100%.

The fishing in Shell Beach will be significantly better when the fish transition back to the marsh. From October to May is when I would assess how good the fishing is there. Run east to the outside in Hopedale/Delacroix for more consistent trout until the fish start coming in which will happen with the first few fronts in September.

I can help you with Hopedale, Start in Bay Eloi, Black Bay or the long rocks and fish east until you catch some. I know that’s a very large area but it will eliminate a ton. Fish oyster reefs, rigs, birds or rocks. The fish are definitely still out. Lake borgne had a big algae bloom last week but you can probably catch reds on the rocks and cuts.
I would check the oyster reefs in lake Eloi and Anastasio as well, there were birds and bait working out there when I went.
Fished Bay Eloi Sunday and caught at ton of throw back trout and hard heads but ended up with damn near 80 white trout and specks mixed. We caught fish everywhere we went.
