Posted by abitaman6363 on 12/5/24 at 7:53 pm
Magic 8ball says that Belichik's LSU visit and his openness to entertain college coaching jobs are not coincidental.

Sources: Bill Belichick speaks with UNC about head coach job

Reach out to the LSU alumni association and see if someone can hook you up. My cousin lives in Pasadena and they boil 1,000 lbs every spring. Just texted her to see if they could help you out. Unfortunately they’re in NOLA right now on vacation.

Thanks for the response. I actually already posted on the SoCal LSU Alumni Org Facebook page a few days ago. Good suggestion though.
Brother is flying in Thursday this week (5/9) with two sacks of crawfish. Hoping to track down a 100 qt pot + burner to have a boil and come up empty-handed thus far.

Any TD folks in the LA metro area I could borrow from? Happy to thank with wine/beer/crawfish!
Gambinos. Got three and they were bad. Too late to order from other places. I’ll try Haydels next year.

King Cakes Still Available in BR?

Posted by abitaman6363 on 3/6/22 at 4:23 pm
Had a couple king cakes shipped to me in California and they weren’t good. Flew into town today and hoping to get one of any available. Checked Rouses (airline), calandro’s (Perkins), Alexander’s (Highland) but they no longer have em’.

Anyone seen king cakes still for sale in BR this weekend? Thanks!
Appreciate those who make it to the top and remain grounded in this way.

CNN: Andrew Whitworth [...] Spreads the Wealth

"They're behind a still unspooling list of good deeds that range from small to massive, including writing a check for $250,000 to the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank [...]

Among the highlights of the Whitworths' generosity:

*600 bicycles to children at a school in a low-income LA neighborhood;

*$215,000 for the players' social justice fund;

*$400,000 for scholarships and school supplies for Louisiana schoolchildren;

*Christmas dinner and gifts for 53 families living in hotels and shelters; and

*helping raise $875,000 to grant wishes for children battling terminal illness."

Best of luck tracking down his son, Joseph, who as of the date of the obituary lived in Metairie.

We have no idea what's going on behind the scenes. Marshall has to worry about #1, and his future, not fanboys.

Again—have no problem with him worrying about #1. I do have a problem with someone who says it’s all about the team and focus (not Number #1) and then jumping ship shortly thereafter.

It’s not a hard concept to grasp.

He doesn’t care what idiotic rantards who have no personal frame of reference to the situation say or think

He called a meeting and told his team they are in the season together—and then quit two weeks later. He’s the one who provided a frame of reference and then crapped all over it.
I understand a person looking out for their own financial interests. But I take issue with someone calling a team meeting to convey a message of unity and focus and persistence only to quit two weeks later.

"I just wanted to remind them that we still got a mission ahead of us and we gotta keep playing and keep growing [...] Through all of the hard times with this COVID stuff, we've gotta keep our eyes focused on the prize and that's to finish the season off the best way that we can."

"All I can say is we just gotta keep our eyes straight and win the season out."
WWL on Radio.com is not playing game. Any recs of another station that has it and streaming online.
Does anyone on here use Revel POS as its payment processor? My understanding is the rate under Revel Advantage is 2.49% + $0.15/transaction for both keyed and non-keyed transactions — which is quite low. Are there any hidden fees that make payment processing with Revel less attractive than advertised?

Any idea who the artist is?

Haven't confirmed but looks like Jacob Zumo's work. He's the person who did the men's BBall portraits last year so it would make sense.

No. The voters picked Hillary Clinton by a margin of approx. 3 million votes.
Sorry if Germans. Link to Burrow new conference (9/9/20) mentioned on TD home page. Asked if he'd name the biggest hit he's taken as a QB Joe Burrow responds, "Nah, I won't give anybody that satisfaction."

LINK at 7:15 mark.
Thanks. Went to Brazos today. They only have boards. They used to carry more before the 2016 flood but no longer do. Bought some birch that I'll glue together. Still on the hunt for whole log pieces. Thanks for the recommendations.
Looking to do my first lathe project (bowls). Most of the lumber I'm seeing on Craigslist is cypress and expensive (~$4 for board foot). Any idea where to source lumber in BR that's good for a first timer (e.g. walnut, hickory, etc.).

Also, know where to source tupelo. Would that be a decent wood for a first time project? Haven't found much about it online.

Thanks—
A humble reminder:

Each year I hear more and more friends whose parents/grandparents or elderly friends have been scammed.

Scammers—of both the online and telephone variety—prey on older individuals' lack of technological knowledge. Moreover, scammers prey on the heartstrings of grandparents. A 80-year-old family friend lost thousands when getting a call from someone they believed to be their grandchild in the hospital and in need of immediate help. When asked why the voice was slightly different, they explained it was because of the accident. In a rush and worried, the person wired thousands of dollars.

Take a moment and talk to your elderly friends and family. Remind them to never give their personal information away or to ever forward money to anyone who calls or contacts them online without first consulting with another family member. A 30-second conversation could save them from losing valuable life savings.
