re: How are y'all making coffee when camping?

I like the Black Rifle Steep Bags better than the instant coffee. Just boil water and steep the bag for 5 or so minutes

Go to Tuscaloosa Ford and ask for Alex. He'll take care of you.

I'm headed to the Smokies in a couple of weeks from Birmingham. Any good stores I should hit up that might have some good stuff? Maybe in Chattanooga or the Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg area?

Christmas with the Kranks (2004) comes to mind. Although I definitely thought it was newer than that.

Growing a Crabapple tree from cutting
Posted by rynomott23 on 6/3/19 at 10:56 pm
Any advice on growing a crabapple tree from a cutting from an existing tree? I've tried planting 6" cuttings in a small pot with potting soil, taking advice from various googled sites, leaving a few new growth leaves at the end. It doesn't seem to be working. The leaves died fairly quickly and I don't feel like the stem is fairing well enough to take root. Any advice on better methods? Should I stay patient with it?

Do you ever have a problem with re-freezing it? The last time I thawed/ ground/ and re-froze it turned bad. Maybe I didn't keep it cold enough or maybe it got freezer burnt.

Everything I've seen on Sportsman has been older stuff that's been out for several years.

Looks like the new season is coming to Netflix on October 2nd. I guess they are ditching cable and going straight to Netflix with new episodes. Can't wait for this! It's been a long time since we've gotten any new episodes!

re: Deer ground meat question UPDATE : pg 3
Posted by rynomott23 on 2/1/18 at 9:18 pm
I had a similar problem when processing the meat myself. I had some deer roasts and other large cuts in the freezer for several months. I got my first grinder for Christmas last year and decided I wanted to try it out so I thawed it, ground it, then re froze it in the white tubed bags that you can buy at academy. It all ended up with a brown tint and a funky smell/taste that couldn't be masked in tacos or spaghetti. I'm not sure if it was being old and re frozen that was the problem or if it was my packaging methods but I learned my lesson. I bought a vacuum sealer and ground my deer fresh this year. So far the results are much better.

Got a doe this morning. First deer of the season and needed to fill the freezer. Came home and fried the heart, liver, and tenderloin for the first time. After watching Rinella do it so many times I've been wanting to try it. Turned out really good. Over cooked the liver a little but still not bad.

I was like you and only had seen the most recent seasons and what is offered on Netflix. Then I broke down and bought season 1 online. Long story short I now own every episode.

I have a 30 min drive to and from the hunting club, so I can go through a lot of his podcasts during hunting season.

I've read his Hunting, Butchering, and Cooking Big Game Book. I've also read the MeatEater book, and I'm in the process of reading his American Buffalo book right now. His podcasts are well worth your time as well.
