Serious down vote!
I'll all in on Nuss! He waited for his turn, now 2025 will be his year!

A lot to like, a lot to address...but....

I'm "bullish" on the Tigers for 2025.
What''s to like?
1) Nuss will only get better and damn good now
2) Even without Taylor, Lacey or Daniels, receivers came to play last night.
Hilton and Green stepped up big time last night. Anderson had some drops, but had many drive saving plays 2nd half. With the portal transfers, what's not to like!
3) OL...not great on the run, but with three RF starters, no sacks! Portal will help
4) LBers: Keys will be a star. With the Weeks brothers, Perkins and an incredible freshman haul, all positives here
5) DL: Have some work to do here, but with transfers and freshman coming in, will hold therr own! Speed rushers all over the field!
6) DB: this will be the biggest question for next year, but I like who is coming in and who returns. They will only get better. Pickens will help immediately. Need to address safety
Overall, I think we underestimate what a solid win does at season's end to get momentum for the next year. Would you rather be Bama :)
So I think there are more positives now after the bowl game, after the transfer haul, and after the recruiting haul..
I think this team will be solid for next year...just need to get over the 1st game issues

After the antics this year of pampered players such as Shedeur Sanders, how do you think they will adjust to NFL rules? Clearly for now, the college player seems to be calling the shots...demainding a certain pay, dictating where they decide to play, making demands for starting positions, etc.
So, not that the NFL will stop all of that, at least the NFL has a system that better pays for performance, gives teams decisions on what players they want, and have performance metrics.
I am just curious how some of these kids (like Sanders) will fare with even a little structure in place.
Will find out soon

Based on projected retuners and the transfer center, what would the two deep on OL look like next year? Going to have to give Nuss time and open some holes for our backs.
Just curious as to projections

Comment on Star Gazing! Hard to believe at one time I was bothered by...

all the "great" talent leaving the team via the transfer portal. But, this is now the norm! I now look back at the great promise of S. Sampson and K. Jackson competing for LSU. They were highly regarded out of high school.
It does show you that all the recruiting rankings and "star gazing" has so many issues in predicting success on the playing field. Having the talent is only the beginning. Putting in the work, agreeing to learn and listen, and importantly having coaches to develop you are the factors we really don't know about when a recruit signs.
So, we see time and time again, 5 and 4 star talent signing the LOI and years later, having few snaps or meaningful playing time. SO, given the current environment, they hit the portal hoping for a 2nd chance
We do have many cases where they succeed,,,,Daniels is prime example. But, for every one that hits the portal and is successful at a new team at the same level from the one they came, I can give you 5 more names of those that don't. Most likely they succeed or play at a lower level school, which is fine.
It's great to get 4 and 5 star players as to me, that simply mean they have the talent to get the job done. Teams that recruit more star players do have more success. But, "star power" doesn't stop at the LOI...if the other factors aren't there, say hello to the portal in a few years.
So, a "promising" player at one time now entering the portal doesn't' phase me at all. We need change in college ball and until we do this ridiculous system of uncontrolled NIL, "opt outs" and portal transfers to 3 schools in two years will continue.

From the advocate
I wish him well, but seems from the above, the WR room is pretty crowded and with talent coming in, this is in his best interest.
quote:
LSU could bring back senior CJ Daniels, redshirt sophomore Aaron Anderson, redshirt junior Chris Hilton and junior Zavion Thomas at the top of the wide receiver room next season. It has four more scholarship receivers on the roster and three currently committed in the 2025 class.

Think about his journey....he could have hit the portal and didn't. He waited for his chance and was loyal to the team. He's had some rough patches this year, but also has won us games we shouldn't have won.
He took a brutal hit last night and came back although he was hurting.
Kind of reminds me of the hit Burrow took againsnt UCF in the bowl game and many felt that is where things changed for him. Perhaps that will be the same for Nuss.
But, what a warrior last night...what a leader. All you need to know is that when he went into the medical tent, how many times you see the entire offense waiting outside the tent for news. So, they know the type of leader he is.
So, I for one, have remained on the "NUSS BUS"...if he returns next year, the sky is the limit.

Asking for a friend!
My take on recruiting and the "de commits"....FWIW
Posted by Awlunz Tiger on 11/29/24 at 3:57 pm
Yes, the game has changed and the balance has shifted all to the players. If they are solely in it for the money and desire generational wealth in an instant, who can blame them. But, here is my problem with it.
If all they want is the money, then never use the word "commit"...all that does is hold a certain paycheck until they find a higher bidder. So, they should simply say "I am playing for that school for that price but looking for a better deal!" They are not coming to any college because of loyalty to the school. That is obvious.
Second, please respect the school...if you find a higher bidder school, please do so with enough time to allow the school you just screwed to offer the scholly and NIL to anohter player. What Harold has done is leave both LSU and another recruit who wanted to come to LSU stranded. What Harold has done as has many is simply commit to a school (LSU in this case) only to continue to seek more money, then leave the school in a bind a few days before signing day. I hope at some point the tables are turned and they are left "at the altar" and will see how it feels.
My biggest problem is we are fostering a generation that all they want is instant gratification without working for it. Harold is only one representatiive of this generation that are in for themselves only.
But, I would like to think that there are many players and recruits (probably the majority) that want to play for the school they love and every team has them. For LSU, just look at what Nuss did or Josh Williams. There is no questions they are there for LSU.
You have to look at the Week brothers who seem to love LSU.
So, for Harold, I suspect since he has learned instant gratification is the way to go, I would think if he doesn't start early in his career, you'll see his name in the portal That is now the norm in college ball.
So, Harold like others will find out one day Karma is a bitch!

Thank you for embarrassing LSU and taking attention away from the game and the media's mention of the experience of Death Valley on a saturday night against Bama.
Instead you plan to bring in a Mike "look a like" to the game which only detracts from the Tiger Staduim tradition!!

Welcome to the new reality in the SEC!!

With the new format, much more parity, there really is no one dominant team.
We now see from one week to the next, one team that seems dominant, sky high, overacheives, impresses at home only to return to reality the next week when facing a team they are favored, and yet they are on the other end!
Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, Ole Miss and now the Aggies!
The bottom line and key is to have your team "keep to business", block out the noise and stay as focused as possible each week KNOWING things change each week. This will also be a coaching challenge
Last week, Aggies were the darlings, but now, they face a schedule that is not so easy.
IF LSU can beat Bama, the odds of making the playoff increase. The road trip to Florida and rhe Vandy game will not be easy...they can do it, but it will take focus and complimentary football.
But, our odds increased with Iowa State losing and Clemson laying an egg and the Aggies getting embarrassed.
Going to be fun the rest of the year

will have to be BK's best coaching performance. It is not just the "X and O's" this week! BK will have to do something that's even harder...that is to get his team to play solid, consistent complimentary football after one of the most emotional games these players have ever experienced.
So, it will be hard, if not impossilbe, to focus so intently two games in a row with such emotion as will be needed. But, that's why he's paid the big bucks!

This article from the Gainesville Sun sums it up quite well...

This sums it up well!
It says what we already know..
I am more optimistic knowing our defense has more than a pulse...they were much, much better and the pressure they put on Dart was a thing of beauty!
So, great victory, but next week we could be on the opposite end of the score...So, hopefully TIgers take care of business in the weeks to come!

quote:
This improbable escape warranted celebration.
“These moments don’t come often in life, for sure,” LSU linebacker Whit Weeks said. “It was fun.”
It became a turning-point victory in Kelly’s turning-point third season.
Or, it provided LSU a gulp of excitement before the bottom falls out in the second half of the schedule.

Biggest challenge now lies ahead.....
Posted by Awlunz Tiger on 10/13/24 at 12:05 pm
And that is for the TIgers to put this game behind them, which will be tough!
The road ahead is one that this team can lose 3 more games, on the other hand, they can run the table if the D continues to improve.
But, I think the next two games will go a long way to see if the Tigers get in the playoffs.
Arkansas next week is going to be tough and the Aggies won't be easy. We get past those two and things get interesting.
I like our chances against Bama at home, but then have an imporving Florida team in Gainesville, then fortunately Vandy and OU at home.
I am sure BK is preaching this to the team today, but as we all know, it's hard to repeat great play after such an emotional win.
We'll see and hope

Nuss wasn't his best and seemed rattled at times, but still...
Posted by Awlunz Tiger on 10/13/24 at 9:25 am
hard to believe some wanted to put Collins into the game when we were still in it....Nuss has been excellent all year. Ole Miss had a great scheme and kept him of balance and he was not as accurate. But, when it counted, he delivered.
Hopefully he'll learn from the mistakes on Saturday and get even better.
But, as long as Nuss is out there and a few points down, we had a chance!

Everything lining up for a classic in Death Valley....but...

Top 15 Matchup! Hated Rival! Saturday Night in Death Valley!
Nice weather, fans tailgating and ready to rumble at night...
National TV! 100th year of TIger Stadium.....yep, all lining up!
But, can't deny that Ole Piss has taking another step forward this year despite the one loss. Defense looks legit.
I do believe the offense and Nuss will remind Ole Piss this is not one of the cupcakes they've played. But, the real concern is whether the Tiger D can step up when most media pundits have doubts, and so do many fans and righfully so.
But, if the Tiger D can do their job and get us to the 4th quarter, I think the Tiger Stadium magic may prevail.
So, I am hoping the D shows up, slows down Ole Piss, and then we can put some serious doubt in them when the 4th quarter rolls around. If so, I like our chances. But, the tigers will be in for a real challenge and many are saying Ole Piss with 65 to 70 chace of winning. I think the TIgers will come out focused and it will come down to who has the ball last.

Posted by Awlunz Tiger on 10/6/24 at 4:44 pm
Sigh!!
I am not a poll watcher....just take care of business each week and LSU will make the playoffs regardless of the weekly poll. After yesterday, some games seem more favorable to win than on Friday (Bama), whereas the rest of the schedule now seems tougher (Arkansas, Vandy, Aggies).
It will be a long season still with lots of meaningful games ot play

"The hallmarks of a legit championship contender have always been strong team leadership, a good defense, and great QB play. You simply can’t win a title without a combination of those three.
This team has felt like it was lacking in all three areas, but there was enough window dressing to cover it up, until we ran into brick wall and the facade was torn down."
And then it continues...
Good defense: The secondary is trash. The linebackers are lost. Jihaad Campbell is not an SEC-caliber LB. The tackling is atrocious. Attempting to punch the ball out instead of actually bringing the guy to the ground is a losing move. I’m not sure what’s to blame more, the scheme or the players, but our defense isn’t good. The fact that Vandy converted every single important third down ought to tell you something. Georgia’s fourth down conversions say the same thing: the defense has no chest.
and the FInale!
The signs were there that Bama wasn’t legit. Penalties, the offense disappearing for long stretches, the defensive lapses. The explosiveness of the offense was covering a multitude of problems that all came to light yesterday in humiliating fashion.
Here’s the deal: it’s all out there now. The mask has been torn off. The warts, deficiencies, everything is out in the open. Where do you go from here? One thing about a loss like this; it can galvanize a team, cause them to take a hard look in the mirror and make the needed adjustments in preparation and attitude, and actually turn them into a good team. Or it can have the opposite effect, and they lock into repeating the same mistakes again and again because “you don’t know our team like we do, these guys bring it every day, LANK” and so on…
They were frauds. Not anymore. We know who they are now, I really hope they do too.
Bottom line...dynasty has been over, but they are only now recognizing it!
