Based on the artists you listed I would definitely give Austin Meade's album Black Sheep a listen. It was released back in February and I haven't stopped listening to it yet.

Really reminded me of the curtain call that UT player took in like the 3rd inning of game one of the CWS champ series in 2009. He hit a solo shot and then went out for a curtain call that nobody was even cheering for him to come out of the dugout for. It worked out well for that guy too.

Yeah I really don't know what happened to Kahne once he got to Hendrick. He was so good early in his career with Evernham and he even won a race for that Red Bull Racing team at phoenix even after it had been announced they were leaving NASCAR after that season.

Always something going on with one of HAAS cars. Seems like they can never get both cars in the points no matter how well they are running.

Gran Turismo Sport, Need for Speed, and Project CARS 2 should all be at E3. As far as boxing games you might be stuck with whatever UFC games are being made.
re: NASCAR is dying - possible Brickyard 400 on the road course in 2018
Posted by GeauxTigers310 on 5/12/17 at 5:18 pm
There should have been a road course in the chase for years now, but probably didn't happen because the two major track ownership groups (one of which the France family has a major stake in) couldn't come to an agreement on which track would lose a chase race and which road course would get a spot in the chase.
NASCAR is hell bent on not doing anything that would bring excitement to the sport with the schedule in order to appease the two major track ownership groups. That's why the whole schedule is 1.5 mile tracks and it's not going to change any time soon. They'll kind of redistribute the number of races each 1.5 track gets each year based on attendance but that's about it. There's no incentive for anyone who builds a new race track/facility to even pursue NASCAR because the track would never get on the cup schedule.
They change the format of the all star race every single year to try and get people excited but really there is no reason to watch it. The changes in rules/format of that race every year kind of exemplify how NASCAR will change literally everything, but not the real problem which is the type of tracks and racing that make up the majority of the cup schedule. I know it's a break for the drivers and their families to be close to where many of them live, but move the dang race around. There are a bunch of close tracks in NC that would be awesome to see packed full of people for an all star race. Pack out North Wilkesboro or Rockingham and make it an event all about the fans. There are so many tracks in the US that could benefit from holding the all star race (NASCAR could also promote more grass roots racing and make the tracks safer in the process, but you know, money) and it's easier to just move the all star race than move other races on the schedule. That would be a start.
If they race the Charlotte road course it will be terrible. Because of the nature of the road course/oval set up, the cars will get really strung out during the race and it won't be fun to watch. It will be novel, but not exciting racing.
Also, Stage racing is awful and was basically invented so that NASCAR could sell more advertisement time.

re: Is becoming an RN worth it?
Posted by GeauxTigers310 on 4/28/17 at 11:08 am
It's always funny when a thread starts about being an RN because most people have no idea what they are talking about.
If you're planning to just start a program to become an RN you have to go BSN. Just go ahead and get it over with. It will give you a lot more opportunities and will not limit you on how you can advance your career in the future.
There are a ton of different nursing jobs with a ton of different work schedules. Most people only give information that they second hand know of someone who is a floor nurse who works 3 twelves, every other weekend, the occasional OT shift a week, and complains all the time about how hard they work or how underappreciated they are which is really annoying. I'm an RN and I work 4 10's a week and no weekends or holidays. Some jobs are almost exclusively direct patient care and some are very little to none. If you want an adrenaline filled work environment you can find that, if you want a more relaxed work environment, you can find that as well.
In school they will train you to be an RN and use floor nursing to do it. Your clinical rotations will all be on units and you may get a glimpse of other areas like the operating room, pacu, ect. but floor nursing will be the focus and that is what you will know when you get done with school.
Likely your first job will be on the floor. You may really like it, and that's great, but you may hate it and that's okay too. This is where people get stuck in a job they complain about all the time because they either don't know other types of jobs exist because you don't really learn about them in school, or they are too scared to leave the area they are in even though they hate it. You need to get that magical one year of experience and then if you don't like what you are doing change it. Most hospitals have a problem with RN's leaving after they get that one year of experience because you will likely be offered more money at another job than any raise you would get at your current job, people learn more about what they do and don't like about nursing in their first job, and sometimes it's just a bad place to work.
I don't know who it was in this thread that said RN's are making $20 but that is completely wrong. I started as a new grad at a little less that $30 an hour and in my experience my pay increased pretty rapidly in my first two years.
I would suggest that if you are single, don't mind moving around a little bit, and want to go ahead and pay off any student loans you may have, look into travel nursing. You could do it for a year or two, make over $50 an hour and get non taxable stipends, and probably erase any kind of debt you may have if this is your first college degree. Just like with other nursing job there are a ton of different travel nursing jobs with different benefits.

re: NASCAR: May finally get road course in Chase
Posted by GeauxTigers310 on 3/8/17 at 7:13 am
Yeah COTA will never happen along with all the other awesome road courses in North America. If the track isn't owned by SMI or ISC it's never going to make it on the cup calendar and especially not into the chase.
With that said, having a road course race in the chase is long overdue. Those have been some of the most exciting races to watch over the past few years, but it's kind of disappointing that they are going to use the charlotte infield instead of watkins glen or sonoma.

I switched from a Netgear N600 router to the Nighthawk AC3200 within the last year and it made a huge difference for me.
I think the two things that made the biggest difference were:
1. (not specific to a new router) Use an app on your phone like Wifi Analyzer and find out what channels the people around you have their wifi set to and manually set yours to one that is less congested. You'd be surprised at how big of a difference it can make.
2. I have a lot of newer devices that connect to 5ghz wifi and so the dual 5ghz bands on the ac3200 really carry the load a lot better than my old router with only one 5gz band.

That's a nice set to be starting out with for sure. I'm still squeezing as much life as I can out of my Logitech G27 setup.
Are you going to be playing exclusively on ps4? No chance at pc? Primarily playing on console is really going to limit you as far sim racing titles go if you're looking for a more realistic/challenging experience.
If you are a fan of F1, then the new 2016 game is a must have. Been mostly playing through the career mode and it's been a blast.
I've only played Project CARS and Assetto Corsa on PC so I don't really know how they perform on ps4, but both are solid titles. I would give the edge to AC though because the ai in Project CARS is terrible, and the force feedback in AC is way ahead of Project CARS. With Project CARS, at least on pc, I had to spend hours just searching through wheel settings and downloading ffb tweaker files to get it to feel natural.
Never played Driveclub so I can't comment on that one.
DO NOT buy a NASCAR game until there are full reviews that include wheel support and ffb in the review. The last console NASCAR game that was any good as far as playing with a wheel went was NASCAR 09 from EA Sports. The games from Eutechnyx were buggy and bad, and the new game this year is being made by people who were part of the team that made the NASCAR Heat games for ps2. With it being the first NASCAR game they are developing for this generation, I would suggest taking a wait and see approach on that one.
I would say if you only play on ps4 then definitely Gran Turismo, Assetto Corsa, F1 2016, and DiRT Rally are the must have games.
If you have even a modest pc, and graphics aren't the top priority for you, then there are a whole bunch of great sim racing titles out there that can be had really really cheap.

Rocket League is awesome. The matches are only 5 minutes long so it's real easy to pick up and put down.
re: MLB The Show 15: How do you hit the off-speed stuff consistently?
Posted by GeauxTigers310 on 6/2/15 at 10:52 am
Check your tv settings. If your tv has any kind of motion smoothing settings turn all of that off. Your tv might also have a game mode setting that will disable all of that you could switch it to. I know back when I started playing the show on ps3 (I think it was '12) I couldn't catch up to fastballs and felt like i was late on everything. I read somewhere about the motion smoothing on a lot of tv's causing huge input lag, disabled it on my tv, and then immediately after turning it off I was pulling everything to left field or foul down the left field line.

So what like 2008? I've only lived in Houston about 4 years, so those days were gone by the time I was living here and going to games pretty regularly.

It's a great event. I've been the last 3 years, and it gets better every year. This year was definitely the best attended of any of the classics I've been to. Heck, it was better attended than pretty much any Astros game I've been to outside of them playing the rangers.

Is the roof open or closed? Two years ago it was freezing and they had it open for the classic.
