That “little church” in Chackbay. Today just a pile of wood remains as the church collapsed some time ago.

I agree. First thing they can do is split area 9 into two separate areas by using the Mississippi River as a dividing line. Area 9 is too big. After that, those two areas can probably be split into more areas.

re: fish frying

After coating the fish with corn meal or whatever you use, be sure to let it rest for at least 5 minutes before dropping in hot grease. Do not go directly from coating to hot oil. Letting it rest allows the meal to adhere to the fish. This tip is in Frank Davis’ seafood cookbooks.

re: Mineral Oil in cast iron pot?

After cooking with cast iron and having cleaned and heated it to dry, I will put a light coat of mineral oil on it to keep it coated. Never use vegetable or corn oil to coat it because both will get rancid over time. Mineral oil will not get rancid. I have never used mineral oil to season a pot.
I have in my possession a New Orleans Jazz workout sweatshirt made by Russell Mills, Inc, a division of Russell Athletics that is supposed to have been issued to and worn by Pete Maravich. It is gold in color and the Jazz emblem and basketball are in purple with a number 7 in the middle of the basketball.

When the Jazz were in New Orleans, they would practice in the Tulane gym. The athletic trainer for Tulane would attend their practices. One day, Pistol Pete took off this sweatshirt and put it in the gym bleachers. After practice, he left the gym without the sweatshirt. The athletic trainer saw it, picked it up and kept it.

After the trainer left Tulane, he began working at Nicholls State and him and I became good friends. He gave me the sweatshirt and told me how he obtained it. His story is all I have to go on.

He had connections all across the country. Once got me a pair of NIKE high top football artificial turf shoes from the Minnesota Vikings. They were white with purple swoosh and the label shows they were made in USA. Don’t see that much anymore.

re: Louisiana State Trooper Jurisdiction

Posted by LXIXER on 7/22/24 at 10:31 pm
There are 3 troopers that live in Rienzi subdivision in Thibodaux, all maybe within three blocks of each other. That might be why you are seeing them frequently. A trooper just moved in across the street from me. Adds security to the subdivision.
I was also charged double ($140) for 2 books of NCAA tickets. Should be $70 according to my confirmation email dated February 20th. Just got off of the phone with LSU ticket office. I was double charged and they said they will issue a refund back to my credit card. Hopefully they get it right.
Not necessarily memorabilia, but I have at least one LSU home football game program for every year from 1957 though 2023 except for the years 1961 and 1964.
Sent an email to Rep Jerome Zeringue last week about this very issue. Even brought up the possibility of splitting area 9 into 2 separate areas with the Mississippi River being the dividing line since opening of the spillway does not flood the West Bank of the area. Not sure they will consider it but worth a try. If they won’t allow us to be like the other areas, how about making the either sex tag legal throughout the legal hunting season to at least give the hunter who can’t hunt on doe days a chance to at least harvest one doe. Write, call or email your state representative or senator. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.
A drunk girl on 4th row of section 417 threw her guts up onto where you walk between the bleachers. Vomit everywhere. People around her were scrambling looking for another seat. The smell was worst than bad. Finally someone from janitorial services came and cleaned it up.
Talk around Thibodaux amongst his former biddy basketball coaches is that he is partially blind in one eye. Might have something to do with taking his eye off of the ball.

Step by step, inch by inch.
Just asking a question to clear up some confusion. You mention that it is illegal to conceal carry a gun at a parade. You then post what I assume is the law that says it is illegal to carry a concealed handgun in any of the following. # 9 is a parade or demonstration for which a permit has been issued by a government entity. Is “At” a parade the same as “In” a parade? Has it ever been determined whether or not someone who is watching a parade while carrying concealed considered to be in violation of the law or is it only someone who is actually participating in the parade? Would like to know if anyone has a good answer.
Back in the day, before concealed carry permits were a thing, a patron at a local festival was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon. At his scheduled court hearing, the judge asked the arresting police officer how did he know the accused was carrying a concealed weapon. The police officer replied that he saw the outline of the pistol in his back pocket and from that could tell the accused had a pistol in his back pocket. Judge ruled that since the police officer could tell that the accused was carrying a pistol then the pistol was not concealed. Charges dropped, case dismissed. True story.
I was told a some years ago by a state representative that LDWF was in the process of allowing either sex to be killed throughout the season in area 9 like other areas but flooding on the east side of the Mississippi River from hurricane Gustave killed plenty deer so they kept the limit on doe days. Seems like the deer herd should have recovered by now.
If they still want to limit the number of does killed, reduce the number of doe tags but have the ability to kill at least one doe at any time. Right now, if you can’t go on the specified weekends, you are killing zero does.

re: What is a root canal like?

Posted by LXIXER on 8/23/22 at 10:23 pm
You really shouldn’t feel any pain. Had a root canal done last year due to an abscess and it wasn’t bad. The Endodontist who did the procedure eased my fears when he said that the nerves were already dead so I would not feel any pain. Sure enough, nothing. Felt pressure from the drilling but no pain.
