Years ago I used to go hang out at the railing outside my apt. at the married student apartments (rip) and watch the practices. You couldn't see a damn thing from that distance, other than that guys in helmets were running around. If you got binoculars I guess you could've gotten some info. I thought about calling football ops but I figured, to hell with it, if some guy in maroon houndstooth starts lurking around I'll worry about it then.

ETA: I was in my prime ranting days back then but I never posted about it precisely because I was worried about tipping off some other team. Now I can unburden myself of a 20+ year secret.

There are a lot of indications and credible suggestions that what went down here was anything but normal.

Thus, it seems reasonable to examine it all a bit more before drawing such a conclusion . Surely, you aren't trying to suggest there is no way the grand jury process could be corrupted and, as such, we should never even consider such a thing, huh?

Well no. I'm sure GJ's have been bribed in the past, and I obviously think that should be investigated. But I don't think that's what anyone is claiming here (if I'm wrong, I'm wrong). I think what Landry really wants is an investigation to show that this GJ was "politically motivated" or "out to get him" or something to that effect. And I don't think that is or should be grounds for an investigation.

To the extent that this GJ was not "under the typical grand jury process" I think that's obviously true, but the remedy is overruling the bill, which has already happened here.

Of course in the end it's all grandstanding, in both directions. And as this thread shows, the people who he wants to eat it up are eating it up.

So you don’t believe choosing to prosecute any individual frivolously is a violation of that individual’s civil rights?

Maybe, if the DA/prosecutor was the one who brought the charges (or if she had pressed the charges to trial in the face of contrary evidence, rather than NP'ing them- which is what happened here.)

But I believe that members of a grand jury (and/or petite jury) should have the highest degree of legal immunity, even in the face of overwhelming evidence that the "charges" at issue were frivolous, pointless, and politically motivated. I think that immunity has to be baked in for the institution to work.

The only exception I can think of is bribery, which I doubt happened here.

I don't know how old you are or how long you've been at this but it gets better. It never gets *great* but it gets better.
And I certainly work a lot less hours than I did in my 20s and early 30s. For better or for worse.

What did y'all think the St Michael prayer meant? Vibes? Papers? essays?
I've never paid a cent of taxes in my life- I always make my wife sign the checks.
Doesn't seem like a great thing to gloat about in either direction

I had no idea the market in NOLA was that depressed. I've lived all over the place and it is crazy to me that top white shoe firms in NOLA are only charging 500

Yeah I read these rants on td.com about Louisiana lawyers and I just shake my head; they have no idea. My buddies in Texas or Florida laugh at both the hourly rates and the judgments we get down here. It's a pittance to them.

I think La. courts get a bad rap because it's easy to squeeze out a soft tissue $10-15k settlement, and that's the kind of case that's most directly visible to Joe sixpack. But that's nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Last month they weighed me @ Ochsner in kg. There was a sign up next to the scale saying "remember to weigh in kg for patient self confidence"

To most people I guess kg might as well be in ancient Greek.

I don't know if anyone else will remember but a poster here called the 2009 bottom within 24 hours of the actual irl bottom. I was in awe.

That same poster also spent the next couple of years mocking people who bought bitcoin at sub $1 prices. So you win some you lose some I guess.
Last week I was on my front porch in Metairie (aka the land of milk and honey) and saw fireflies for the first time possibly *ever* in town.

As I'm sitting there marveling at them, the fricking mosquito spray guy comes roaring down the street. So much for that.
Because these people have the attention span of fruit flies, hence the outpouring of "IS JAY ON THE HOT SEAT" threads and the premature coronation of Lane (career lsu victories 0) Kiffin.

re: Is Sams Club worth it?

I went to Sam's yesterday for the first time in ~1 year (wife goes monthly) and frankly it sucked. Lots of MM items were more expensive than the equivalent GV/equate on walmart+ app.

For example plain greek yogurt, which I buy a ton of, was 1c/oz more expensive at Sams (in bulk) than Wal Mart's basic. Yea it's one cent, but the whole point of bulk buying is that it's supposed to be cheaper. Their 85% ground meat was more expensive then Wal Mart's 93%. Their top sirloin was more expensive than the Canseco's top sirloin (weekly special). And it was an absolute fricking zoo, even with scan & go. If I had had to stand in those lines, I would've straight up walked out.
So our clocks will just always be wrong? At no point, in the entire year, will "noon" be at noon. This is genuinely retarded.
I'm not "mad" at anyone but if this is what college sports is now, why should I care?
That's the part they're taking for granted.

I think I say this sometimes too but technically you're asking permission.
What if they say no
Nor would I, until the day I brought a blonde freshman to DeAngelos and she said "I'll do your pepperoni calzone."
