re: Should LSU have helmet stickers?

they did in the '70s (fwiw)
Our defenders were in position to make multiple big plays in the backfield, and for the most part we could have at least held them to short gains. This shows me that we had a solid defensive game plan.

However, the defenders missed a ton of tackles. This shows poor execution by the players on the field.

The coaches cannot make the tackles for the players. And don't say that the coaching indirectly resulted in them missing the tackles! Some days players just have poor performances. Look at Newton today. He is a great player, even though he's getting owned today, and our defense is great even though it got abused against Aubie.

However, this does not always mean we should immediately fire Chavis, Crowton, or Miles.

Wake up and smell the coffee!
LSU fans suck. They expect perfection in every aspect of the game, every game, against every team.

Most of these idiots never played sports, much less football. Very rarely does a team ever put a perfect game together. And most teams have a few weaknesses.

STOP BLAMING THE COACHES FOR AUBURN!!! WE HAD THE WORST TACKLING IVE EVER SEEN AT THE COLLEGE LEVEL AND QUITE A FEW KEY DROPPED PASSES!!!

I just 'choot em wit coppah 'chot T
16 Teams.
11 conference champs.
5 at large bids.

4 weeks of great football!!
If you can figure out the math that goes into the BCS, good job. But even a 2nd grader can figure out a playoff bracket.

College football desparately needs a playoff system.
H-town Tiger. You and I will never agree. I choose the old fashion American way.

Settle it on the field!
What about Highschool? Does anyone ever complain that the best team doesn't win the state championship?

The best teams usually win, partner. John Curtis, Evangel, West Monroe.
Two step process. In this order:

1.) Win the WAC.

2.) Win all the playoff games.

(they won't be "legit" until a playoff is in place)

if they get in the championship now, fans of big conferences will complain.

if they dont get in the championship now, Boise fans will complain.

They only way to settle it is on a field, between the lines.

But in the NFL in 2007, the Cowboys went 13-3, the Giants 10-6. They played twice the Cowboys won both by double digits. They met again in the playoff and the Giants won. So the Giants were 1-2 vs Dallas overall but got to move on. What will people defending the Giants say? They won when it mattered, which means the first 2 didn't mean anything. Over the course of the 16 game season the Cowboys proved themselves to be better, the Giants did not deserve another shot.

Every other sport in the world uses a playoff. Only one uses a computer to pick its championship. 88 NCAA sports use a playoff, 1 uses a computer.

I'd rather have the misfortune of something like what happened to the Cowboys, than have an undefeated team not even get a shot.
1.) 16 team playoff (11 conference champs and 5 at large)

2.) this would not devalue the regular season

3.) Comparing college basketball and football are like comparing apples and oranges. Teams play 4 games a week sometimes, and teams play rivals sometimes 3 times. Football rivalries take place once a year. A playoff won't "devalue" Bama LSU. If you think it will you are a dunderhead.

4.) The computer math is garbage; it doesn't take into account the margin of victory.

5.) A playoff would allow teams like Boise to have a shot without having to go undefeated two years in a row. It works in highschool and the regular season is still great, and in the NFL.

6.) Teams who clinch a spot in the playoffs would never do what the colts did by sitting their players. They play 15 games and compete with 15 teams in their division for a number one spot. College teams play 12 games and compete with 119 other teams for a #1 spot. A college team would have to lead by 2 games to even consider throwing a game, and I doubt Auburn would "throw" the Iron Bowl even if this was the case.

PLAYOFFS MAKE MORE SENSE!

they did play better schedules

USC and OK did not play tougher schedule than Auburn. Sorry pal
quote:

no it doesn't, it was cupcakes that kept Auburn out in 04, it was cupcakes that killed USC in 2007 and 2008, and its cupcakes that hurt Boise and TCU.

You are missing my point. As a fan do you enjoy watching LSU destroy teams like ULM and McNeese? The fans don't enjoy it, the players don't care about the game, and LSU has nothing to win by playing those teams.

However, with the BCS in place they will continue to play cupcakes to keep their records unblemished.

There is a 2 team playoff implemented at the end of the season. The 2 best teams from the regular season are invited to participate.

LSUMATT. I know you have the BCS figured out like the back of your hand, but step back and take a look at the BCS for what it is.

2004 - USC (preseason #1) Oklahoma (preseason #2). Auburn (preseason #17 writers and #18 with coaches). All three teams went undefeated. So you are saying that USC and OK were definitely the best two teams?

I would have rather seen a playoff where all teams prove themselves against one another than use the logic that "well since OK and USC were ranked #1 and #2 going into the season and didnt lose, they deserve to play for the championship. But Auburn doesn't since they weren't voted high enough in the preseason rankings." That, my friend is pure foolishness, and it is exactly how the BCS works.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

How does the BCS reward cupcakes, when by your first post you show that teams that play weaker schedules are left out?

The BCS rewards teams who play cupcakes, my friend. Look at Boise state, Oregon, and TCU. They all have sub par SOS but they are ranked above us because they remain undefeated. While we have gone through a meat grinder and lost to the #2 team in the nation (who in my opinion should be #1)

Guys... I am saying that the BCS deminishes the regular season by rewarding us for scheduling cupcakes. Also, I am saying that people claim that "every week is a playoff," when this is simply not the case.

A playoff system should be implimented.
