Lake Cliff - A bar near the water plant where in the 1950s La. Hayride stars like Johnny Horton, Claude King, Red Sovine, and even Elvis played. In the 1970s it became a prog-country hangout, where Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Jr. David Allan Coe, and others would perform after their shows at Hirsch.

On the Bossier Strip:

Merle Kemmerly's Sak's Boom-Boom Room/Whisk-A-Go-Go/Electric Circus
Stork Club
Kim's
Shindig

And don't forget the Spot Club, a downtown pool hall.

They are doing this so they can build a stadium comparable to Central High"

re: How will you celebrate 1/9/2022?

The greatest second chance in the history of college football, after not getting it done on your own home field. I would be proud, but not too proud.

Hard to believe, but despite hair plugs, dye, and face lifts, Nick is older than the Bear, who seemed ancient at the time, when he croaked.
At least the ULL tradition of the 12th fan remains intact. Most of you are likely familiar with the Texas A&M tradition of the Twelfth Man, where the student body stands to show they are ready to come to the aid of the team.

But how many know about the equally honorable ULL tradition of the Twelfth Fan? It seems years ago, the Cajuns were yet again going down to defeat, and the crowd was abandoning them in droves. The head coach looked over his shoulder and noticed there were only 11 fans left. He lamented to an assistant that there were no more fans in the stands than Cajun players on the field. Without comment, a young freshman player jumped from the bench and ran to the dressing room. He returned a few minutes later in street clothes and sat in the stands for the remainder of the game, preserving a spectator majority.

In his honor, at each home game a player sits on the bench in street clothes, ready to take to the stands if called.

re: Best Chinese Food in Baton Rouge?

Off topic, but does anyone remember a Chinese restaurant called Shing's on Government back in the 1980s?

Edit: Per Google Street View, the location (3669 Government) is now the site of Cajun Eats.
The other guys said 60 years. Now you are going back to Huey Long. That's nearly 100 years. Is that your argument? Huey Long favored LSU (the top state university then as now) so your school's athletic program deserves welfare today.
Ha! Attack the messenger. ULL fans hate for their dirty secret to be exposed. Despite claims about LSU, no numbers are provided to back them up. Well, what we do know is that for the last fiscal year the ULL athletics taxpayer subsidy exceeded its closest rival (La. Tech) by an amount 1-1/2 times greater than that for McNeese (a by comparison small $5, 068, 069). When the new numbers come out in a few months, they will be further off the charts. In a state where roads can't be fixed, bridges can't be built, and other necessities can't be fully funded, taxpayers should be outraged.

Correct…..except it for much longer than 60 years.

Still no link provided.

That’s rich considering the fact that the taxpayer had to fund LSU athletics for almost 60 years to get this point.

Link? I provided mine. Where's yours?
ULL is the welfare queen of (the state of) Louisiana college athletics and has used gimmickry over the years to convey the perception they have separated from the other state universities, excluding LSU. The most recent (pre-Covid) numbers available as reported by the state auditor's office show them consuming $7.5 million more taxpayer subsidy than second place Louisiana Tech and nearly $10 million more than ULM.

ULL

Direct Institutional Support (taxpayer subsidy) = $16,544,002

I used to know a guy who did marriage and family counseling. Though he never named names, he once told of a case where the husband was fricking both the mother-in-law and sister-in-law. At least keeping it all in the family.
The power of the poon. Or as an old guy I used to work with would put it, not so much applicable anymore, the power of the hairy triangle.
Think about it. "We" pay millions of dollars to LeBron whose only skill in life is putting a ball through a hoop.
It actually goes back to Seinfeld:

We're not men.

Then after Friends, it digressed further with The Big Bang Theory.
Those suits looked like something contractors would wear to clean tank bottoms in a refinery.

Three of the greatest influencers of 20th century popular music had ties to Shreveport. Hank Williams and Elvis Presley gained stardom as members of KWKH's Louisiana Hayride program held at th Municipal Auditorium. Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter was born in nearby Mooringsport and played on the streets of the St. Paul Bottoms, the area behind the downtown Methodist Church. which was a red-light district in the early 1900s.

George Harrison once stated “If there was no Lead Belly, there would have been no Lonnie Donegan (a British skiffle singer); no Lonnie Donegan, no Beatles. Therefore no Lead Belly, no Beatles.”
