I'm pretty sure an injunction was granted today allowing all the current 4 year players a 5th year.

The NCAA had previously ruled that they couldn't play a 5th season.

This should open up dozens of players for Wade to sign.

I wouldn't be surprised if Wade had this in his back pocket the whole time, reasonably assuming they would be granted the 5th year.

Qadir Copeland could still be a possibility depending on if he can get out of a recent 2 way NBA contract he recently signed.

It only applies to Ohio.

Where is the outrage for Ole Miss signing an international player. The horror!

The same logic applies to him that applies to all the older international pro players trying to come over:

quote:

They are all questionable. Simply from the fact that they all made above "actual and necessary expenses" this past season. However, the NCAA has not ruled on any of the current waiver applications under the new rule, so there is no sense of how the NCAA is applying the "actual and necessary expenses" rule. Will it be a very strict application or will it be a more generous application?

College classes will start in just over a month at most colleges, and it appears that the NCAA has yet to issue a determination for a pro international under the new guidance.
Because the voting public, for the most part, is very simple-minded, and kicking the conflict down the road past the midterms polls better than $5 gallon gas.

Yam Madar just opted out of his contract…

He opted out from Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv and is expected to sign with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

What are the odds these guys get waivers? Dellenger the other day on Mascona’s show made it sound questionable.

Outside of Ruzic, they are all questionable. Simply from the fact that they all made above "actual and necessary expenses" this past season. However, the NCAA has not ruled on any of the current waiver applications under the new rule, so there is no sense of how the NCAA is applying the "actual and necessary expenses" rule. Will it be a very strict application or will it be a more generous appliction?
Has anyone seen any news about internationals being cleared or denied under the new guidance? It sounds like Ruzic might be on campus for summer workouts. Any word on other internationals already being on campus?

Can confirm.
I would love to see Wade end Pope's tenure in Rupp

This roster construction is certainly different than anything we've seen before at LSU. But that is a byproduct of the fact we are living in a world where the eligibility rules in college sports are anything but concrete. Wade has always been a guy that has been very deliberate in his roster building. To think he is just taking a bunch of wild chances with NO backup plan would be totally out of character. Thus, the more likely outcome is silence means LSU is proceeding as planned.

If come August, or even October when practice official starts, the team only has 5-7 guys on the roster, few of which are the international players, then I will be the first to say I was wrong in having confidence in Wade's plan. But util that happens he gets the benefit of the doubt that he knows exactly what he is doing.

I certainly trust Wade's plan, but a couple of things to remember. Most coaches were well on the way to developing transfer portal classes way before Wade was even offered the LSU job. He was behind the curve on most of the top guys. Then, the international guidance was changed midstream on him.

Also, I know if you don't 100% believe, "Signed, exactely who he wanted, Wade did" then you are some kind of hater  But there is enough out there to say that Wade expected to retain some guys on the current LSU roster and expected some to travel from NC State with him. That didn't happen. Even if that's only 3 guys, it makes a big difference when trying to build the roster.

Hunt Palmer has a recap from today

To add to that, none of the internationals have received waivers to play. It is reported that Madar has already given up on trying to get eligible. It is likely that Dessert, Santos, and even Niang will face uphill battles given the NCAA's new international guidance. Also, there is euro chatter that Niang may stay overseas with a new contract.
Given that everyone already had a chance to leave and that NIL deals are in place, it's unlikely any of these players will leave unless Mich absolutely botches the hire.
There is no Peace Deal. This is all a ploy to kick things down the road past the midterms. Also, the US was burning through its arsenal of ammo faster than it could be replenished. The ammo issue has long-term strategic implications if the US can't correct it.
