Would be worried about playing in Philly, Chicago as well
God yea. Chicago in January different than Chicago in September. Or October. Whenever that game was....Phily too.

What a barnburner. Wish I would have been in town for that one. Congrats to Lions on first FCS playoff win. Was hoping they would play Maine in the next round. New Hampshire is gonna be tough.

I think UL Hammond would beat them both

I would be shocked if he survives this.
re: 1908 National Championship...Why doesn't LSU officially claim this?
Posted by oak71 on 11/20/13 at 7:27 pm
I would agree LSU shoulda won that one. Sorry I can't feel for Chicago fans since the Cubs DID win the World Series that year.
They have a tournament for that. Only time I pay attention to college basketball. Sad but true.

I've changed my mind. FSU would beat Alabama by at least 40.
:lol:Thats funny, but yea I think they can take them to the limit at least. I still have a problem picking against Alabama with Saban having so much time to get ready.

Good work. Thanks. Block design and eye of the tiger are the best. Always. I think they had that in the Arnsparger era. He is still my second favorite LSU coach.

Congratulations to Southeastern. Certainly the greatest moment in the athletics history. Even bigger than basketball making NCAAs in 2005. At least this team has a legit shot at making a run. Geaux Lions! :nana: :nana:

Congrats to SE LA. Keep it going.
re: The rest of the season

I am thinking 11-5. That @ Rams game is scary. We lost up there in 2011 with a 13-3 team. And they just blew out the Colts at Indy. 8-0 at home 3-5 on the road is how I see it. Hoping NE can take care of Carolina and Saints at least split with them. 11-5 NOLA and 11-5 Carolina. Then go figure on a tiebreaker. Wish I were more optimistic.
re: Do you wish the SEC would've got FSU?
Posted by oak71 on 11/12/13 at 2:04 pm
They would certainly make the conference more powerful, but SEC already is in Florida market. And yea the Gators would fight it to the death.
re: Best fit for Ed Reed?

Yea retire. I had him on my Madden Saints franchise team once upon a time. But that was long ago.
re: What happened to Florida?

Shocking. I don't know. And they still have FSU to deal with. Sucks to be a Gator right now.
re: After crushing McNeese last week, SLU 58-31 in 4th

FCS juggernaut. Hell of a team they got in Hammond. Wow!

With all the talk of "rented" players and transfers, Southeastern either starts, or significantly rotates, three 5th year seniors on the O-line who were signed out of high school, not to mention three more HS signees who are underclassmen who play significant snaps. They also start a 5th year senior and a redshirt junior at WR (high school signs) and both tight ends are redshirt juniors, signed out of high school. Two of the top three RBs are high school kids (Harrell & Roberson), and of the two transfers (one FBS, one JC), both are sophomores in eligibility.
There are more JC starters on defense, plus an FBS transfer starting, but there are quite a few high school signees starting or playing significant snaps. CB Harlan Miller, from Kentwood, will be a potential first round draft pick in two years; Tyler Stoddard is a three year starter at FS. Kaleb Muse from Ponchatoula is a three year starter at LB, but is now out for the year with a shoulder injury. Drew Misita from Oak Forest Academy in Amite, doesn't technically start but leads the team in tackles and is getting NFL looks already as a junior. DE Javari Nichols from Kentwood plays significant snaps as a true freshman, and true freshman Taylor Cochran from St. Charles is seeing playing time as well.
Good stuff. Thanks for the scoop.

FCS rankings are out of whack. Realize SE LA is ranked 88 in Sagarin poll(LINK ) which includes all Division 1(FBS and FCS). I believe they are the third highest ranked FCS team in that poll. I think they are the best team in the Southland.

Hope they keep it up.
re: Four win LSU or undefeated Tulane - who wins in 98?
Posted by oak71 on 4/30/13 at 11:43 pm
I have always wondered about that. Tiger defense couldn't stop anyone after the Auburn win for some reason. Oh yea, Tepper defense. I think LSU 52-50 or something.
