Exactly. So if you lived in Alabama, you could marry your first cousin at this point in time. If the practice was outlawed tomorrow, it doesn't mean you could keep doing it just because you and your family used to do it.
Btw, first cousin marriage is legal in 18 U.S. states, including Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, and Virginia.
Alabama is seemingly in great company.

That was one way to escape a beating. The point is, coonasses and even reputable human beings used to be able to, by law, beat their wives if they didn't do as told.
That isn't the law any longer so you can't legally beat your wife. I'm trying to penetrate the coonass logic on this site that just because what Wade did was illegal at the time but is legal now doesn't mean a price didn't have to be paid.
One has to relate to a coonass on their level so that they can grasp a concept.
