I of course agree D3 Williams can leave. I'd be surprised if he's anywhere near the greater Seattle area. As for monetary damages, it's unlikely UW gets anything outside of the cost avoidance of both the contract payments and alternative reality of keeping a "franchise" QB who has lost credibility in his locker room. I'd like to see UW, with support from the B1G, leverage this situation to drive some much-needed reform to this national NIL and unlimited free agency circus.
I seriously doubt Washington will force him to play. I suspect they'll exact a pound of flesh in the event there was provable tampering. But this no longer the guy they would want to lead the team. Apparently, many of his teammates were attending a memorial service for a Washington women's soccer player, tragically lost to cancer, when Williams made his announcement.
