re: Software Stocks Plunge

Posted by skewbs on 6/9/26 at 7:34 pm to
Are y’all bullish on NOW? Started a small position today with 30 shares at 103.80/share. Plan to buy more if it drifts lower in the coming days towards the 52 week low.

Software stocks I currently own are CRM, ADBE, and NOW.

New to the thread. Just chiming in to say I’m steadily stacking with 810 shares at cost of $4.92/share. Goal is to get over 1,000 shares while we linger in the mid to high 4’s.

We go to Breck every July for about 3 weeks to escape the Houston heat. Been doing this for 15+ years. The town is 9,100 feet above sea level so the early mornings and evenings are typically in the high 40's or low 50's. Perfect weather. Breck stays a little bit cooler in the middle of the summer than other towns at lower elevations (ex. Beaver Creek, Avon, Steamboat, etc.)

Ok, a little more context. In Houston, I’m seeing friends/acquaintances buy incredible homes in transitioning neighborhoods. Large, new homes with all the bells and whistles. My wife (no pics) is dead-set on limiting our search to just a couple neighborhoods which are admittedly out of our price range unless it’s a fixer upper or we sacrifice multiple ‘wants’.

So the conundrum is - get everything we want in the house in a transitioning neighborhood, or, get the exact location we want, and sacrifice multiple wants on the house itself.

Housing Location Conundrum

Interested in the MT’s take on this question - would you rather buy the best house in a so-so area/neigbborhood, or the worst house in the best neighborhood?

I’ll leave this philosophical question there with no additional details.

Tell me about Salida, CO

Posted by skewbs on 5/27/26 at 3:53 pm
I’ve seen Salida mentioned on here in several other threads about Colorado or mountain town vacations. Some of this has certainly peaked my interest. Our family spends a few weeks in Breckenridge every July, and I’m considering driving over to Salida for a couple of days/nights on the front end of this trip. Trying to figure out if it is worth it or not.

Where is the best location to stay? What are the must visit restaurants, bars, breweries? Any activities you would recommend with small children (ex. they’re too young to go rafting)?

Appreciate all the info and advice!

Anybody? Ever? I’d bet so

Been making the drive through Cañon City on our way to Breckenridge for 12 years in a row. First time I’m hearing of this road. Can’t wait to try it first week of July on my way out there!

Will be in San Diego for the first time during 2nd week of September, so I'm also following this thread. Appreciate all the great suggestions so far!

I loathe evening flights given what could happen throughout the day causing delays. Been burned too many times on late afternoon and evening flights getting impacted by earlier flight schedules.

That being said, you “should” be fine. I would start monitoring the inbound flight status as well as that flights inbound plane in the morning.

I go to SF once every 4-5 weeks for work. This was one of the coolest things I’ve done out there and I always recommend it. I suggest biking back though. The view coming over the GG Bridge into the city is breathtaking. Now if you want to booze it up in Sausalito, then just hop on the ferry. Try to time it with sunset.

re: St John USVI - mid April

Posted by skewbs on 4/1/26 at 3:39 pm to
Great info all! Appreciate it. We have dinners booked at Extra Virgin and Morgan's Mango for two of the five nights we will be on the island. Trying to get in to Zozo's on another night. Considering 1864 if we are unable to get in Zozo's (apparently they are open only Mon - Frid and have limited seating).

We may keep two nights 'free' to wander and stroll in to La Tapa or somewhere casual like High Tide or Longboard. Given we are going mid-April, I'm not expecting crazy high-season crowds (although it's still not low season yet).

I'm pricing out private charters versus taking a group charter day-trip to Jost. We really just want to vibe out at White Bay for 5-6 hours. The two times I've been in the past were on tours where we hit other spots (ex. Baths, Indians, Willy T., etc.) and we only had about 1.5 hours at JSV. That felt too rushed for me.

As for Jeep rentals - any recommendations? There are tons of options from a simple google search.
Wait times at IAH are significantly less today. Longest I’ve seen all morning was 45 minutes, versus a formal reported estimate of 180+ minutes most every day this week.

ETA - last Sunday was 200+ minutes for most of the morning and into mid afternoon.

Bump. Already booked at Extra Virgin and Morgan’s Mango. We have 3 other nights to consider other dinner options.

St John USVI - mid April

Posted by skewbs on 3/26/26 at 11:00 pm
Just booked a trip to St John for week of April 12th. Staying at Gallows Point in Cruz Bay. We’ve been twice before but this was in 2016 and 2019, so it’s been about 7 years.

Any new restaurants or bars in Cruz Bay we must visit? How about the rest of the island. I recall driving to Windmill Bar and Skinny Legs in Coral Bay.

Also, any recommendation on a charter company for a day trip to Jost Van Dyke would be appreciated.

Back end of a head and shoulder pattern may be forming. Not a good thing from a tech analysis.
Slight hijac of Arthur’s thread but maybe he’ll be interested in this question / answer too.

Will be using points to stay at Westin St John in April. We’ve been 3 times and done the group charter to Jost and other stops (ex. Baths). This time, we want to do a private day charter.

Anyone recommend a private day charter that’s not > $2K for the day? It’s just 2 of us.
