And every team in the SEC was rewarded because they didn’t play 5 top 15 teams in the SEC, 4 of which were on the road. SEC needs to go back to divisions so there are more common opponents.
You can have as many games as you want. Just have the criteria predetermined instead of letting the Condaleza Rice’s of the world decide who is playing.
Or do like the new NBA Cup does. They have the in-season NBA cup championship, but instead of making it an extra game for the 2 top teams, they schedule games for the teams that didn’t make it as well so everyone has the same number of games at the end of the year. That way, Texas A and M could have played Ole Miss, Texas plays OU again, and so on.
How did they decide that Bama and UGA were the teams for the SEC championship without meetings and committees? They have pre-established rules with a long list of tie breakers. There wasn’t any controversy that Bama made it in over higher ranked teams with better overall records, because everyone knows the rules going in.
College football didn’t fix anything going from no title games pre-BCS to BCS to 4team to 4 team to 12 team. The controversy remains because the actual problem wasn’t how many teams. The problem has always been how these teams are decided, committees, polls, bribes, etc.

Either sports and even college football conferences have clear rules, win your division, you’re in for example. No begging, no beauty contest. Until college football dumps the committee and uses a true earned-on-the-field playoff, it’ll be the same yearly meltdown no matter how many teams they add.
The SEC championship game I was watching could have easily been 35-0. Negative yards rushing. And you could have lost by less. lol

The committee dropped one loss SMU 2 spots out of the playoff for losing their conference game to Clemson by only 3 points last season. Seems like they were ok punishing teams for close conference championship losses last season. Bama looked like shite today.

That might be Nick Saban’s reputation that got them in previous years though.
Also, move to the sunbelt conference, lol
Anyone know if the methodology this site uses for probability is sound? LINK
There is a difference between losing an extra game and getting destroyed.

Miami played FSU and handled business. Bama didn’t.
They were good enough to beat FSU in Tallahassee. Bama wasn’t

Yes they should reward the team that embarrassed themselves in front of the entire nation instead of the Miami team that should have been in their conference championship. Inbred clown
MAYBE a 3 loss team can make it. If they lose by 1pt, 3 points, and 7 points in the Conference Championship. But losing by 2 touchdowns and 3 touchdowns doesn’t do it.

Because they were 10-2 and a 7-5 team went to the Conference Championship over them. Conferences should change the way they pick who plays in the conference champions. Bama shouldn’t have been in over Ole Miss and Texas A & M with 2 losses either.
Bama shouldn’t be anywhere near the CFP this season. I agree you shouldn’t be punished for losing the Conference Championship game… If you were competitive… But if you have negative rushing yard and lose by three touchdowns, then yeah, you can get punished for that, not for losing, but for how you lost.
They did get a little screwed with a 5 loss team going to the conference championship game above them, .
