I coached travel ball for years, and the reality is that most of the kids have no shot at college baseball. Kids that go to bigger schools get introduced to other sports and leave baseball behind after 8th grade. The 6 foot 12 year usually never grows another centimeter, and they burn out by 10th grade. We thought we had 2 studs on our team, but neither played beyond Junior year. The team I coached did have 2 boys get scholarships for other sports, which makes me truly happy for their families.

With DJT promising higher tax refunds this year, what has been the consensus so far? Better return? Lower? About the same?

I was at that game, and it was a terrific game. However it was disheartening to watch the 3 Aug players that ran over to the JC bench shooting the bird and grabbing their crotches. Kind of put a damper on an otherwise great event.

I attended the Curtis vs Karr game to check out a rugby prospect. I agree that Karr can be beat if they don't bring their A game. They have phenomenal athletes but lack a good passing game. The Curtis def backs pulled up on a couple of balls that should have been intercepted. Only chance to beat Karr is to stop the run and hope they don't out athlete you.

Great move by Loyola, and Fitz is a great dude. He is already after a few local kids that can really play. I expect that he will recruit TX and also use his international ties to field a competitive team from the start.
