They may not have just based it on last year alone, OP. That's a thought that occurred to me.
So many possibilities for a perennial powerhouse like Clemson, but I'd go with either Christian Wilkins & Dexter Lawrence or Sammy Watkins & Nuk Hopkins.

South Carolina doesn't traditionally handle expectations well, and their defense is going to be a sieve. Much more likely they finish unranked than in the playoffs.
