Stop Mr. Cassidy. I already support Trump. You don't have to push him anymore.

This is how fascism starts

Looking at the checklist, I can't wait to see all the articles stating LGBT status (for a price) or the doctors and lawyers letters attesting to LGBT status (also for a price).

And then the inevitable exposés on the fraud that was used to get certified to get a piece of that $633 million.

I can't wait to see all the "LGBT" immigrants. :banghead:
Ron Slavin is somehow making everyone in the situation look worse. Honestly, it's a bit impressive.

PROFOOTBALLTALK - Agent: Texas Tech nudged Brendan Sorsby to apply for supplemental draft
quote:

Appearing Wednesday on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, agent Ron Slavin explained Sorsby’s decision to waive his remaining college football eligibility by withdrawing his lawsuit and heading to the NFL.

“It just came down to too much pressure from everybody else on Tech, and Brendan still wanted to play at Tech,” Slavin said. “This wasn’t Brendan Sorsby not wanting to play college football. This was Brendan Sorsby just being advised by the school that, ‘I think it’s time for you’ — you know, we had seven days left to file for the supplemental draft and didn’t know where this thing was gonna go. So, we won in court. We did our job on our side, but, for whatever reason, the world melted down like college football was ruined forever.”

Although Slavin eventually pegged the decision as a 50-50 split between Sorsby and Texas Tech “just to make everybody happy,” it’s clear from the overall interview that Slavin (and, by extension, Sorsby) believes Tech got skittish.

“When we made the decision to hire Jeffrey Kessler, you know, he’s the Harlem Globetrotters,” Slavin said. “You know, he doesn’t lose. And the NCAA, unfortunately, is the Washington Generals. So, you know, that’s kind of how we stood on it. And we still haven’t — we didn’t lose. That’s the thing.”

Still, Texas Tech wasn’t comfortable in continuing the fight, especially after it went from Sorsby vs. the NCAA to the Big 12 vs. Texas Tech.

“Texas Tech didn’t want to go through the process and jeopardize a situation where the Big 12 makes up rules as they go,
and says, ‘He can’t play in the Big 12 championship game,’ or the CFP comes out and says he can’t play the CFP,” Slavin said. “Then he played a season for nothing. And with seven days before the supplemental draft, you know, Tech thought it was in Brendan’s best interests to move forward with that instead of — I mean, the other thing is you have a roster of 90 kids. So those 90 kids are — they’re affected too. So that was where Brendan was, like, ‘I don’t want to screw these guys over, either, with, you know, get through the season, we go 12-0, and then they pull the rug out from us.’”

So he throws Texas Tech under the bus.

Ignores the fact that everyone but Texas Tech was pissed at the injunction.

Complains about a situation where the Big 12 might make up rules on the fly. :wha:

Or that the CFP could find a way to avoid the stink of a potential gambling scandal if Texas Tech with Sorsby made it. :dope:

I think I dislike Sorsby and his agent more than when they got the injunction. Take some accountability ffs.
quote:

Per the injunction it stated that the NCAA cannot bar him from practicing, playin, or otherwise participating on TT football team for the 2026 season.

But does it bar the NCAA from levying penalties, fines, or otherwise forcing Texas Tech to forfeit all games he played in AFTER 2026?
Did anyone else see where he undermined his own argument about how it is an addiction?

quote:

"My betting became a compulsion which made it virtually impossible to resist the constant notifications I received from betting apps. I lost complete control of my addiction. I now realize the apps controlled me and I did not control them."

So he started betting (presumably on his own team in 2022) and developed an addiction.

That sounds like he voluntarily was betting on his own sport AND team.

:dunno:
So was he in the throes of his gambling addiction when he started betting on Indiana games in 2022?

You know, when he bet to be closer to the team.

Technically, shouldn't every team he played for have to vacate every game he played since he gambled on his own team?
Yep. Trump is a threat to the world, democracy in the US, trans people, gay people, liberals, feminists, all females, those who want abotions, and so forth.

But he's really coming for the SOUTH PARK WRITERS!!!!

Do these people have any perspective? You don't think that if Trump is going to go after domestic "threats", he wouldn't go for a better target than South Park?

This isn’t rocket science

Don't try and hide it now

"I have the passion and the admiration to hoist a Larry O'Brien Trophy up every single year, but I also have a realization of what particular team I have been a part of in that particular year," James said in an episode of his podcast, "Mind the Game," with co-host Steve Nash released Thursday. "And understanding this year, we fought and we played to the maximum ability of our team. But ultimately, if we're being completely honest, we were out-talented."

In his defense, those are words. Just seemingly used in a clunky/wrong manner.

Similar to, if not nearly as funny as, Oswald Bates:

quote:

You mean "aspiration," you frickin' dingus?

Maybe he meant ambition? Although that seems further away from admiration . . . :dope:
quote:

Monken was also complimentary of Watson, who is healthy after tearing his Achilles in October 2024 and missing all of the 2025 season.

"Deshaun's athleticism shows up," Monken said. "Obviously he's had that, but he's had injuries that have set him back. I wouldn't say it's a surprise, but it's exciting to see -- it's a weapon for him. It's one of his superpowers, his athleticism."
So they escaped Alcatraz, survived, and then stayed together to make a propaganda/hoax film for the federal government . . . as fugitives under new identities?

Seems like a bit of a gamble.
Supposedly the manifesto has been leaked/released - saw it last night.

I don't know if it's real/verified but this is supposedly it - only a link so you have to click to see any of it.
X - @amyforsandiego

They (don't know if Caleb or Cain) self-describe as a "Christian Ecofascist Accelerationist" and they go pretty hard against trans people.

Not a funny situation but it is somewhat funny and telling that parts of it have [UNFINISHED] in their manifesto. I think that says a lot about how stable and intelligent these two were.

Edit: I've also seen two TikTok(?) videos of one of them in a mask dancing like an idiot. I think a lot of this generation is totally screwed in the head.

Bangstad: Can I expound on that?

Lawyer Fred: Please don't.

The lawyer knows that idiot will turn this simple and quick interview into a much longer interview and he doesn't want to be there for all that time.

Edit: Watched it again and I just noticed the agent's head swivel quickly when he started to ask if he could expound on his answer.
quote:

I thought the NCAA did something like that

They did think of allowing betting on professional sports. It was proposed and after 30 days, it was rejected by a majority of the member institutions.
quote:

An October, 2025 proposal from the NCAA Division I Administrative Committee would have allowed players and athletic department members to bet on professional sports. This proposal was rejected in November by the NCAA's member institutions in a vote which required two-thirds support.

Problem for Sorsby is that he ALREADY had bet not just on college sports, not just on his sport, but also his own team . . . in 2022.

The bigger problem:
quote:

Unfortunately for Sorsby, precedent established by the NCAA suggests his college career may be over. In 2021, Iowa State backup quarterback Hunter Dekkers placed 366 bets with DraftKings, totaling to $2,799 including a $15 bet in a Cyclones game he did not play in. When the betting scandal broke in 2023, the NCAA went on to rule Dekkers permanently ineligble. Dekkers would transfer to Iowa Western Community College after missing the entire 2023 season.

But he didn't play in the game(s)?
quote:

As of the latest NCAA guidelines in 2023, athletes who wager on their school's sports could face "permanent loss of collegiate eligibility in all sports." This penalty applies whether or not the athlete participated in the games that were the subject of gambling.

Source and good article
While he's probably getting a nice amount of fees, I kind of feel for Kirk's lawyer:

You know he likes the constant cashflow for his practice, but probably hates his client.

That posture says so much.
quote:

"The NCAA has weaponized his condition to shore up a facade of competitive integrity, while simultaneously profiting from the very gambling ecosystem it polices," the filing states.

I'm pretty sure the NCAA has weaponized nothing. It has, however, had prohibitions on gambling for years, if not decades.

As long as the NCAA didn't tell Sorsby that he can gamble and have since reneged on that permission, then the NCAA hasn't weaponized anything.
I believe there were several letters sent out regarding how Independent would be its own party. So if you wanted to vote, you'd have to change it.

Guess you thought it was junk mail.
