re: Kyren Lacy at LSU pro day

Not a good look? Haha for what? That wreck that they over charged on?
That’s a nothing burger. There’s two types of vehicular homicide - felony type and misdemeanor. Vehicular homicide felony occurs when there’s another egregious act or gross negligence or another criminal act that caused the death, eg drag racing, car chase with the police, or DUI.
Lacy wasn’t running from the cops, wasn’t DUI, wasn’t drag racing. “Supposedly” he passed in a no passing zone. If that’s the case and the prosecution can prove that his actions caused the old man to die, AT best you have misdemeanor version. That’s no jail time, maybe a fine, maybe probation. Maybe.
The small town sheriff overcharged for a headline. This is a nothing burger.

I don’t think BK learned anything or changed his attitude towards the portal. I think LSU finally got its NIL act together, and so Kelly finally has the money he needs to go get guys now.
Yup. People seem to forget that in a short period of time they paid out O, Will Wade, paid out millions in legal fees and settlements for the sex scandals, signed Johnson and Mulkey, and BK, and built a new training center. Thats a lot of cheddar going out the door in a short period of time

At the end of the day it took BK until this offseason and losing Underwood to take the portal seriously. Will never understand why he didn’t but glad he finally did.
Ever think that LSU was probably pretty strapped financially? This isn’t a video game where there’s billions of imaginary money floating around. LSU paid out O, paid out Will Wade, paid out all the legal settlements for the sex scandals, plus legal fees, re-upped J Johnson and Kim Mulkey contracts, built a new training center, then sign BK to a big deal.
End of the day, the cupboard was pretty bare. This is NIL era. Money talks. I don’t think it was as much a willful avoidance rather than being super picky bc he knows he didn’t have much to spread around .
re: Did l s u spend twenty million last year?
Posted by MrSinnyman on 1/22/25 at 3:41 pm
I could be totally wrong here but FWIW I think, from what i understand, is all these reports floating around aren’t 100% accurate and a lot of it is speculation. It’s what the Collectives choose to disclose. Like the “reports” about Beck’s deal in Miami at $4M. Where did that come from, like Becks agent or the school or what? To my knowledge there’s no rules or regs yet that requires schools or collectives from publishing what they’re offering.
That’s my understanding of it anyways. I could be way off.

Deion Sanders took a 1-11 team he inherited to a 9-4 record and Top 25 ranking in two seasons. His first two seasons as a D1 HC with much less resources than LSU. Army and Navy ranked ahead, nevermind. Smh
This should tell you everything you need to know about the rankings and how subjective they are. LSU and Colorado have exact same record. LSU’s SOS was 9th, COL 65th. LSU beat two of the final top 25 teams, COL beat none. LSU finished their season by winning a bowl game, COL did not.
Yettttttt….COL ranked, LSU isn’t.
So using “Deion is ranked after 2 seasons and BK isn’t” is hardly an argument based on objectivity. Also the “with much less resources” is wholly false. They have 3 guys on their team making more NIL than the whole LSU team combined. So, COL has the resources. That’s silly to think otherwise.

Here's 2 Kenny Dillingham Curt Cignetti UGA wasn't exactly upper elite when Smart took over, not as bad as Florida with Napier, but not playoff ready
Comical. ASU was 1-9 before he took over. First year went 3-9 (Pac12) oof. Second year — coincidentally when they transferred to the watered down Lil12 (minus OU and TX of course) they go 11-3. Win the Lil12 then get beat in the playoffs. Great game, competitive, but still a first round L. Have the 44th ranked recruiting class, 30th transfer class. No Heisman winner. No bowl wins. 14-12 record. Sorry bub. Not even remotely close to BK’s success so far at LSU.
Cigs definitely took over losing program, for sure. 3-9 the year before. Went 11-2 in his first year. Only two ranked teams he played, beat him. Didn’t play in the conference championship game. No Heisman winner. 1st round loss. 65th recruiting class. (16th in the B1G). 11-3 record, 0 bowl wins, 0 ranked wins, 0 conference appearances. Sorry bub, Cigs is good and on the right track but has a long way to go to surpass BK’s success thus far.
I didn’t even address Kirby Smart. Cmon dude you serious? He was handled a 10-3 highly ranked perennial contender from Mark Richt. Born on 3rd base and it still took him 6 years to win a NC. And Billy Napier suckkkks. No way anyone thinks he’s more success than BK at this point.
Thank God for a 12-team playoff otherwise neither team is in the CFP. If there was a 12-team playoff in 2022, LSU is in. Sorry man, facts don’t lie.

"Judge me by Year 3"
Would’ve you have felt better if he said “judge me by year 6?” Can you name another coach (not named Nick Saban) who took over a complete mess of a program and within 3 years had as much success as BK and Co? I can’t.
I mean, do you haters with BKDS have another talking point to lean on? Jeezus - 29 wins, SEC west title, SECCG game, 3 straight bowl wins, Heisman winner, prolific offense, 3 top NFL rookies, young impact players on both sides of the ball, great recruiting classes, great portal class, locking down La recruiting, beat Auburn, beat Bama, beat Arky, beat FL, beat Ole Miss, I mean dayyyum what more yall expect? BUh buH hE sAiD jUDge mE bY yEaR 3! Yeah. And in year 3 given the starting point he’s crushing it.

Why did you deliberately OMIT the rest of my comment? Oh right, it’s because it didn’t fit your narrative! The REST of my comment (ya know the part that you didn’t include) clearly says “some better than others.
That said, just because a guy doesn’t work out doesn’t mean he sucks — Matt House coached UK as DC and their defense was 6th in the nation. Then he went to KC Chiefs and went to 3 SB’s with them, winning 2. And their defense was high ranked. Given those accomplishments how could you know he wouldn’t do well at LSU? I mean, I know YOU and ONLY YOU knew it was a terrible hire because you’re a Swamy with infinite wisdom. And Brian Polian is another - hired specifically for ST and recruiting. Two areas he excelled at under BK at ND.
How come you never mentioned any of his others? Marcus Freeman, Mike Denbrock, Bob Diaco, Clark Lea, Mike Elko, Matt LaFleur, Brian VanGorder, Butch Jones, Tommy Rees, Mike Elston, Slade Naigle, or any of the guys on staff now - Bo Davis, Corey Raymond, et al? Conveniently left them all off. I wonder why.
re: Now can we hire a real oc
Posted by MrSinnyman on 1/20/25 at 11:34 pm
Denbrock isn’t happening. His wife wants to be close to home and family. He gave it a shot but she was miserable in Louisiana. BK hires great assistants. Some better than others. We’ll be fine.

Love the silence from the Kelly haters
The silence started this week after Brady Quinn went on a podcast (Two Pros and a Cup of Joe) to rail BK, thinking he was slamming him. He actually validated exactly what BK has said - that Swarbrick was a cheap f**k and didn’t want to spend money and he didn’t have the resources and support to win a NC. Quinn said after BK left the organized a collective, raised millions for NIL, built a new state of the art training facility , all the stuff BK wanted. And Freeman still came up short. So what’s the excuse? BK got to exactly where Freeman is with far less. I like Freeman but he isn’t better than BK.

re: Notre Dame fans spoke to soon
Posted by MrSinnyman on 1/20/25 at 10:32 pm
I like Freeman and I think he’ll be fine. ND will be fine. But calling him a “better coach” is pretty premature. BK talked about not having the resources to win a NC. Brady Quinn confirmed that in his most recent rant - they launched the collective, raised millions for NIL, built a new state of the art facility (all things BK wanted) AFTER he left. So Freeman had all the resources available and still came up short against an OSU team that scared nobody. BK took his teams to the playoffs and a NC game with far less than what Freeman has. It’s pretty obvious who the better coach is.

1) but we didn’t. We count Wins and Losses, not “almost losses and barely wins”. No such thing. Same thing with ND “fought back in the natty”. Still an L bub.
2) do you not know who DJ Lagway is? Mmkay casual.
3) you mean the same Bama that rolled UGA?
Go root for Tulane or ULM. We good over here

I glaze JD pretty hard. I’m not even ashamed to say it (not as bad as Collinsworth with Mahomes though). JD just always seems so calm and poised and jovial. Kid is always smiling. Just having fun. I’m pulling for the Bills to (finally) win a SB but if Commanders get past the Eagles idk who I’d be rooting for.

IMO one season is hard to come to that conclusion. Stroud looked remarkable as a rookie too. Now he looks lost. Not saying JD will have the same falloff, only that it takes more than 1 year of high level play to say “this one is better than this one”.
Im just stoked both played at LSU, along with Chase Jefferson Nabers Thomas and all those young QB - WR’s out there see that and think they can be the next iconic duo. I love it
