Because its fun, and the program is dead in its current state? Also its vindicating since we felt like we shouldn't have been cornered into firing him?

What kind of question is this?
Hindsight is 20/20 but this always seems like the likely reunion they should have expected/
When I see people calling WW a scumbag, I try to wrap my head around what exactly their alluding to.

Did they actually care about the FBI investigation? Feels like an incredibly hypocritical and empty argument. If they cared they wouldn't have praised the hire when he went to NC State, or they should have also demanded Bill Self's head.

"Well this is just what he does" Are we conflating Kiffin and WW as the same person now? Hard to really believe WW has a "history" of this just because he left McNeese recently (on incredibly good terms I might add).

Major media is missing the main, and only, important part of this story, and I don't blame them because you would only be in the know if you were living in this state or on this board. The average LSU fan really never stopped acting like WW was their coach. In spirit, he was always the General in exile. And now, for the deeply personal reasons he alluded to, there has been a reunion.

At the end of the day it just rubs people the wrong way when they see that coaches are real people and are not forced to treat each coaching job as an equal commodity. It pains people to be reminded that some jobs are just BETTER than others.
Lot of people discounting him as a yes man...

As if its a knock to gauge the room and facilitate what the masses want. I don't know why some people think the AD should be some fully autonomous czar within the LSU system.

A great AD isn't some genius talent evaluator. They just know how to get the right people in contract with the right people to get shite done, which Verge is doing.
You have no idea what the reality is
If you look at the QB rankings heading into the season you can answer that question yourself. The talent scouts were absolutely in error across the board.

For reference

1, 2, 3, & 5: Nuss, Klubnik, Arch, and Sellers
8. Lagway

Nuss was bad in important games even in 2024. The scouts just assumed he could fix that with more experience
Wrong about what? He was not good and will not be good in the NFL. Do you think something came out that validates your opinion?
Were gonna have to get the jaws of life for you
Yeah not to beat a dead horse but without the Ole Miss win in 2024 there wouldnt have been this hype.

Alot of people who got trapped on the Nuss Buss are seeking some moral victories this week after the Senior Bowl

It all appears accurate - the fact is lane doesn’t have to choose as long as OM stays idle.

The pecking order in this board game is Lane, then OM, then LSU

All the leaks on numbers and intent can be true, but as long as Lane doesn’t announce (wants to coach playoffs), and the OM doesn’t force him out (wait out a potential natty and change of heart), then LSU has to hope he honors his word or cut bait

re: Isn’t this why Saban fired Lane

I mean the OM AD is letting him have it both ways because the potential outcome is a natty…

LSU is letting him have it both ways out of pure hope he’ll honor his word
Doesn’t make any sense. The iron bowl changes nothing - they are in the playoffs no matter what so the only thing that matters is who blinks first and allows him to coach the playoffs

re: Why let him coach the SECG?

Letting him coach is only advantageous to OM

Seen a lot of OM wouldn’t let him coach the playoffs but LSU would - it’s the opposite way as long as there no announcement

re: Hypothetical question

If OM calls the bluff you continue this game in perpetuity until OM loses or Lane changes his heart. That’s why you need the announcement now
I don’t think OM could do it but it’s wild a lot of the LSU fans would leave it up to chance. If we let him coach and yall did win he wouldn’t leave
Lot of people uncomfortable acknowledging we’ve lost most leverage here. Him wanting to coach here, I believe, but it not true leverage.

OM won’t make him announce, and as long as they don’t then LSU can’t either
Lane will only come if he doesn’t win the national championship is what that argument boils down to that’s why.

“Oh he could publicly announce and still coach” that’s not happening. OM will let him coach if he doesn’t announce because then the door is still open for them.
I just don’t get how LSU could let him coach the playoffs, even if Verge said we would do it for the right candidate. I can’t imagine the donor base will truly be as patient

Why let him coach the SECG?

If you’re LSU, you absolutely cannot let Lane coach the playoffs. Everyone will be indignant and say OM can’t win it all, but the fact is they very well could - then you’re in the Les Miles Michigan situation where it’s impossible for him to leave.

That being said, it was understandable to let him coach last week and “Finnish with his guys” as he owed it to his players and OM to secure their playoff spot. But IT IS SECURED now with or without an SECG win. The leverage Lane had is gone in theory and we’re officially in “have my cake and eat it too” territory.

The Iron Bowl should not matter BECAUSE THE SECG DOES NOT MATTER. Lane is saying “I want the LSU job if I can’t win the national championship this year” at this point.
