I recently found out there was suppose to be a navy base in Lake Charles but Secretary of State Dick Cheney halted it. LINK

Any others come to mind?

From what you're seeing right now.

Oversaturated jobs would be: plant operator, Software engineer, Personal Injury lawyer in Louisiana, people trying to make money off TikTok

What exactly does the job do and how much are they banking a year?
Read something earlier today that Shreveport is #1 in the Country for highest percentage of residents that graduate College and never go back to where they're from.

Was trying to figure out the inverse of this question.

You know other than like Mandeville, I think this is a full state problem.
The 4-leg futures parlay placed on February 14th has already cashed on:

• The U.S. men's hockey team to win the gold medal
• The Michigan men's basketball team to win the NCAA Tournament
• The Knicks to win the Eastern Conference

All he needs is the Spurs to win.

What are you doing in this situation? Cashing out or riding?

After further investigation, deputies arrested Romero and Ancelet Wednesday, each on three counts of cruelty to juveniles. Their bonds are set at $600,000.

Bullet to the head for both of them

They also have to sometimes rely on case running to beat out their competitors.

So you're saying even the most successful PI lawyers use ambulance chasing?

I thought that shite was illegal in Louisiana

Gene Chizik and Gene Stallings. It's the name.

Was Gene Stallings that bad of a coach?

I didn't watch him but from what I was told he was good up until the NCAA hit him on recruiting violations.
What ruffles your feathers

I don’t understand how it’s worth it to pay terry $100k. If you place a large bet on him, that will get flagged

These guys aren't exactly rhode scholars
Texas Liberals would rather attend pride parades and burn/loot buildings than pay money to a sporting event.
Baffles me how half the billboards in Louisiana are car accident lawyers.

Is it that lucrative of a job?

I can understand someone like Morris Bart making a shite ton of money.

But the average Joe 10 years out of law school who runs his own firm and knows an ok amount of people? How much is he making per year?

Also, why is the number 8 use in all their phone numbers, what's the marketing behind that?
Drove through Shreveport and it was like the Walking Dead at night
Calcasieu Shériffs office posted the dashcam video on Facebook (NSFW)

Looks like the officer was justified
I was a kid then so I'm asking adults.

Did you have a lot of people working jobs they shouldn't been working?

How does it compare to now?
Minor Rant: Everytime I see on the news of a woman donating a large chunk of money it's either her dead/ex husband's money or money from their 200 year old family lineage in Louisiana. (Gayle Benson, Phyllis Taylor, Jeff Bezos wife for the people not from Louisiana)

Nonetheless, some money to charity is better than no money!

Which leads me to my question - Are there any women in Louisiana you can think of that started a company that became well off?

Construction company, Car dealership, Creator of a website like Tiger droppings

Anything other than Fleurty Girl

How was your 4 years there? What was your courseload like? Did you have trouble finding a job outside Louisiana?

Pros, Cons, etc.
I just caught up on the White House hosting Indiana Football and I’m pretty confident in saying Curt Cignetti is definitely a liberal. You can tell by his body language he’s not a Trump fan.

Ryan Day is a liberal too he looks like a screamer and has nipple rings.

Was looking at that coworkers daughter post and made me think of this
Just curious why is Southwest Louisiana specifically Calcasieu Parish so much better at baseball than everywhere else?
Operator? Engineer? Planner? Buyer? Other?

What would you say?

LAKE CHARLES, La., May 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Shamieh Law has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Gary "Stitch" Guillory, and a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Deputy after the Deputy allegedly shot and killed the Granger family's dog inside the Grangers' own yard on August 1, 2025.

The complaint, filed on May 8, 2026, in the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, states that the Deputy was dispatched to 637 Debra Lane on a neighbor's traffic complaint. It is asserted that, after observing no violation, he drove onto the Grangers' private driveway, where Tank, a five-year-old Rottweiler with no history of aggression, was alone in his yard. According to the complaint, there was no justifiable cause to discharge a firearm; the Deputy shot and killed him anyway. Christine Granger came home to her house surrounded by sheriff's units and was told that her dog was dead. Four days later, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office returned Tank's cremated remains to the family in a box with his name on it.
