Doubtful, but I do think he’ll do the other lazy option and hire Glenn. Glenn checks all of his boxes

Payton disciple
Has some coordinator success
And Loomis won’t have to do much work.

I do not think Glenn is the answer, but I’m willing to bet that’s the direction he goes. I hope I’m wrong.
The best baseball mind I’ve ever been around.

Seeing what that cancer did to him and his body was gut wrenching. He’s now in a much better place. RIP Coach.

Anybody wonder what the Dodgers are up to?

They’ve been over the luxury tap threshold for multiple years in a row now so if they continue, their penalty would be outrageous. They are going to spend 2023 under the luxury tax and then next year their penalties will reset because they are no longer repeat offenders, and can then spend like crazy again.

4 seed. Division winners are the first 3 spots.

We would play the Padres in a 3 game set, all at home.

Checo had a few weekends there of looking like he was turning into a boss. And since then, he looks like a chump.

Messed up. Should let them race.
That is a ton of walks given up.
I will salivate over any baseball news at this point.

What a disaster of a decision with everything on the line.

42-6 over the last 4 years, at Notre Dame of all places.

Are you guys morons?

Is this good or bad news?

Great news. And the timing of it makes it even better. Now we have a much clearer idea of what is needed on the roster and the money we have to spend. It was tough to do anything with that huge question mark lingering over the roster.

This. Only this.

It brings entertainment to your life. Doubt anybody here is doing this professionally and making a living doing. It's purely to enhance one's experience watching sports.
Agree on Pache and have said the same thing. I think there’s a better chance than not he’s the starting CF at the start of the year. Most Braves fans just don’t want to hear that.

Ultimately, it’s impossible to determine how the OF shapes up until the Ozuna situation is figured out. That’s a lot of money on our books. And people are under estimating the money that Soler and Rosario will get. We might simply have no choice but to use Pache for monetary reasons and hope he can figure out with the bat. He’s still only 22.
You hate to give up on guys that are still 22 years old, but if they can bring us an impact to the roster now, you have to do it. It's easier to move Pache and/or Waters with Harris lingering behind them. And Contreras will never be the starter with Shea so a trade there seems likely. It's just a matter of when.

Because we had only 3 legitimate starters for the playoffs and only 2 legitimate starters for 90 % of the World Series. At this point, you can't bank on Soroka providing meaningful innings. So unless you expect Wright and Co. to finally put together a full season, then you have to find another guy, even if it means using those guys as trade bait.

For one, the game has quickly shifted away from needing dominant starting pitching, particularly in the postseason. You absolutely MUST have a shutdown pen. That's the top priority. The Braves just proved that. Our pitching absolutely dominated all postseason long, in large part thanks to the work the pen did.

Two, are you lumping guys like Tucker Davidson and Kyle Muller in with Wright & Co? If so, you are doing them an incredible disservice.

Davidson, Muller, Ynoa, & Strider are all more than capable. And yes you even have Wright & Toussiant lingering too. I'm not completly giving up on both of them.

Out of all of that talent, they absolutely can take up 2 spots in the rotation. And if Soroka does come back and can be effective, any of them could be some of the best 5th starters in baseball.

I will almost guarantee you that we don't spend a single cent on Starting Pitching. Any money we do have will go towards the OF and RP.

starting pitching.

We are not spending any additional money on starting pitching. Why would we?

6/$160M for Freddie does scare me. That kind of deal carries a lot of risk. I know they've got to try and keep him but they shouldn't overpay to do it. I know fans can't think like this, but AA has to consider what the backside of a deal like that will look like.

You don't turn away Freddie because you're scared he may make too much money in the last year, maybe 2 years of a contract. The time to win is now, obviously. We have Acuna, Albies, Riley, & Fried all cheap together for the next 3 years. The window will never be this open to win again. You'll need Freddie as the backbone in the middle of the order to do that. Pay the man, let's hope he brings us home another title or two, and we can live with what we get towards the end.

But I do agree that a front loaded contract is the way to go.
