It wasn’t the easy 10-run game we were dreaming about. 9 isn’t so bad. Let’s get one more and close out the high dollar, wanna be modern Yankee team.

Perhaps he’s buying the policy for tax free income by taking loans from the policy. Sounds like an unlimited Roth option to me. Not the same situation as term. This is living income versus income replacement.

re: I love a good board game! What's your favorite?
Posted by GeauxHome on 7/14/15 at 10:12 pm
I was hooked on Dominion for a while. It's a deck builder game That has some variability. I also played Pandemic a lot. It's interesting to have the game as the opponent, Instead of other players. I Just broke into a new game, Trains, where you build high speed rail in Osaka or Tokyo while having to account for existing buildings and infrastructure.
re: Thoughts on Variable Deferred Annuity
Posted by GeauxHome on 9/15/13 at 9:20 am
It depends on what your benefit is through the pension. Look at that. then, look at what the monthly benefit of a large insurance company like Lincoln or Prudential would be for investing the lump sum you're thinking about pledging to an annuity. The benefit of rolling over is it will give you pension like income for you and your spouse for both of your lives with a death benefit for your heirs. The company pension won't give a DB to your heirs. My initial thoughts, but I'd have more if I knew more about the situation.

re: What is the Most Disturbing Movie you've ever seen?

Santa Sangre. It is disturbing in a crazy and confusing way. The first time I saw it was in a bar close to Halloween... I drank a lot that night to keep me sane.

I was just in Shreveport. I had a Royale with Cheese at Robinson Theater. To cure my hangover, I ate a ham steak and eggs at Strawns Eat Shop. They have some delicious pie that was featured in Southern Living.
re: What brought on the Great Depression?
Posted by GeauxHome on 7/9/11 at 7:07 pm
It was due to buying on margin, which means that investors were paying for stock with borrowed money with the idea that they would get a return on the borrowed money and be able to pay it back. Much like the recent financial meltdown, people believed that the market would continue to grow, so credit was easy to come by.

You can invest $5000 every year from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. You can't make up your own fiscal year
