Caraway led his old team in errors so glad to see he cleaned that up...however, he was also not a great hitter for OSU so he was basically high risk/high reward gamble that CJJ was willing to take on...you win some you lose some :) :violin:
this is exactly the scenario coaches are dealing with. You don't get recruited to LSU without the staff knowing you can play. The reality is you don't get better at baseball sitting on the bench you have to go somewhere you can play.

CJJ has openly expressed how much he dislikes this portal era but it the nature of the beast. Certainly why CJJ is trying to get the freshman a bit more time this year so they will see his investment in them and not leave. Last year it was much tougher to do.
Braun is not a real big guy. Saw him up close and prototypical CJJ 1B is a bit larger/taller. So, no I don't see him transitioning to 1B

I am sort of feeling this vibe. Every day you show up at the ballpark you want to play but there are 7 guys vying for time at 2b/3b/LF....They get in and they PRESS! Cause all of them want to make something happen so they can extend their time. Tough and sort of takes the fun away from the game. Now its a competition every day which makes it hard to turn into a team vs a collection of players.
You might have a point. I was there all weekend and I saw what everyone else saw. At the end of the day, when you get portal players - you PAY them therefore you have to PLAY them. So good, bad or indifferent, the boosters are not going to let you drop a bag on a guy and then let him sit.

CJJ has a lot to manage with that.

agree and would really like to give the guy a decent run to at least try; one outing is what it is

I thought this was the role the big guy who coaches 1b- wanniker or something like that...supposedly he has been with CJJ for years as his hitting guy.

Glad they got the opportunity! Just wish CJJ had flipped the lineup sooner. A darn shame Harden has not been in play since Stanfield went down and in some capacity at DH...hopefully this changes
agree- its a real head scratcher. The fat Pearson really pooped his pants on 1b tonight. So much for getting the start over other quality defenders.

NO way in hell should Pearson or Reaves be on the field defensively for LSU...just no way.

totally agree...no reason for tonight to be Harden's first game with more than one at bat in a game! That dude can help this team!

The fact that CJJ keeps trotting him out there is mind numbing...guy looks lost on both side of the ball

Harden was on a heater this Fall. Cooled off in spring but still I am waiting for him to get his shot.
I like Stanny in the leadoff spot...give him a chance to show off the wheels :wha:
unfortunately, I agree. in 2027 potentially replacing all starters except arrambide/evans and maybe a DH... and i don't think you roll freshman out in those roles. Will have to be a complete portal haul
If I had a HS senior coming out this year I would send him to a mid-major and put up good numbers and get the payday at his dream school for sophomore year.
guy has a ton of experience, hell he is working on his masters i heard and if he is basically at home living the dream...if he gets reps/ABs he will be satisfied. A degree from Columbia University in Engineering...he will just fine :)
Not sure if there was interest, but see Jovorskie Lane, Jr committed to Arkansas ('26)
this has baffled me since last year; CJJ was willing to forego an elite in state defender in Mike Ryan for a sub par defender like Reaves.

He has to put in the work cause he couldn't even play INF at JUCO.
