re: CONFIRMED: Schloss to Texas

It’s more likely they’re ironing out the ends of Pierce so that’s as cordial as possible, and are waiting for the end of the CWS so there’s a down period they can throw out a headline that won’t get caught in the muck of CBB baseball news in the middle of the championship series. Literally the exact same thing that happened with Pierce and Augie.

Gonna pitch a regional exit to Louisiana-Lafayette too? Texas boosters are notorious for focusing funds where there’s success, rn that’s football. They aren’t gonna bankroll a coach for a record setting contract, throw money into NIL, and almost $100M in facilities when they’re less than a year removed from a 3rd seed regional exit to a directional school in Louisiana. More importantly, a coach that has built a monster of a program and has been guaranteed a new stadium that he has helped design isn’t going to abandon that for a school who’s baseball program is on a very steady decline in both talent & results. No one cares how many championships Texas won in excess of 20 years ago. They are a program that is, at least, in a significant amount of trouble rn. If you think a coach at a program playing for a National title that has committed significant money and resources to them, be it Schloss or Vitello, is gonna abandon that and take a massive risk for a program on a steep decline because of the prospect of “restoring it to its former glory”, I need to know what you smoke and from where you acquired it. Texas is a very historic program, no one can deny that, but they have some significant work to do to restore both the status of the program, and the faith of the people with the money in it. They’re gonna get a good coach, but it’s not going to be from any team that was close to a title this year. They’re almost certainly going to look at someone in the realm of a Cliff Godwin or a Justin Haire.
