If I was to have to make a bet on who it was, I’d bet that it’s for that Boston Bateman LHP kid… I know that’s wild/crazy but I just have this sneaky feeling that Jay landed himself another YYYUGE fish with kid and somehow got him to come Baton Rouge
A school leaching off the benefit of SEC $$ to talking about “poor” is kinda ironic…
Playing a game in Ireland would mean that LSU would be one of the 1st “brands” to expand outside of the USA…

Id rather have a guy who throws upper 80's who has command and can locate his pitches.

Only if it’s a LHP… for some reason imo it seems like nowadays this only plays if it’s coming from a southpaw… like dare I even say it [trigger warning for any Braves fans] but I feel like guys like Greg Maddux would get crushed in this era of baseball… Imo, it just seems like the upper 80’s paint artist type RHP just doesn’t seem to play anymore…

~Sidenote~ Do you remember that LHP Jamie Moyer? Dude was a certified card carrying AARP member and didn’t throw over 80mph, yet he won more games for the Mariners than Randy Johnson… and what’s even crazier about his career, is the fact that he really saw/had the most success during the ‘ROID era…

His interview with Theriot and Moscona isn’t hard to find

Dude you’re officially the dumbest person ever, either that or you’re a female… only a female would tell someone to find an interview that literally proves her entire argument wrong… that very interview is the one that he was asked about Jay and said that Jay is the best recruiter in the sport
quote:

I can't speak to the exact chronology of his recruitment but the kid was not a huge prospect until he hit a major growth spurt which was around the time LSU was in transition with its coaches. It has been widely said and known that he grew up an LSU fan and loves the program and wanted to play at LSU,

Matter of fact, he’s actually said like literally verbatim “he is the BEST recruiter in college baseball” when he was asked about being recruited by Jay…

which was around the time LSU was in transition with its coaches.

So you really think LSU wasn’t interested in him until after his “growth spurt”? That's probably one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen anyone tell themselves… Do you think he “decommitted” from Miss St. just so he could come to LSU? Like as soon as he got an offer from LSU or something?… He was really interested in A&M and [straight from the kids mouth] has said that he didn’t choose LSU until after meeting Jay… he actually said that he liked Jay so much that he made up his mind to come here during one of his visits/conversations with Jay…
quote:

I'd argue LSU was the allure and Jay just so happened to be the coach and benefactor.

quote:

because he grew up loving and wanting to play for LSU Baseball. That's the power of the program, not the coach.

Ummm… you do realize the kid was originally committed to state and Jay flipped him to LSU, right?
quote:

He declared that he's no longer fielding offers. He can't pull his name at this point.

Ahh ok, I gotcha. Preciate the clarification…

Taking Lipsey’s checkbook and buying turnkey players out of the Portal

Aka “RECRUITING

Some people really need to come to terms with the landscape of college sports nowadays. The portal and NiL have completely changed the game.
quote:

How many great high school players has Jay evaluated and developed at LSU? That will be his real measure.
Gone are the days of coaches being evaluated on their “development” skills… if a kid needs to be “developed” then he can do so at one of our farm clubs and we’ll call him up in a year or 2 when he’s ready. College baseball, especially SEC baseball, is not that different than the league anymore, just smaller paychecks…
quote:

Sure if we are talking about Skip Bertman, but manieri couldn’t do what Jay has done

You do realize that a good bit of the HS kids that your giving Jay credit for, most of them had already committed to Manieri (Nolan Cain really should be the one who deserves a lot of the credit)
I’m not trying to downplay what Jay has done or say that he can’t recruit or anything; I just want you to realize how ridiculously dumb it is for you to say that Manieri couldn’t do this…

At this point I really hope Jay worked on Arrambide to pass on mlb.

Our 50/50 type guys Arrambide and Fountain must be sweated out tomorrow.

Save your sweat, I’m pretty sure Arrambide pulled his name

Prob because Schmidt announced/pulled his name so late

So Jay has super powers to make players stay?

Umm pretty much…
Pretty much everyone that’s entered the portal so far has done so because they have either “been processed” or because they can see the writing on the wall and realize it will take something drastic for them to get immediate/significant playing time…
I mean just use Kucherak as an example, why would he come here, waste an entire year pretty much, just to transfer somewhere else when he’s about to get his shot? Because he knows somehow, whether it’s because he’s had a talk with Jay or because he knows Braswell’s coming back for sure, idk, that he’s most likely looking at another year of limited playing time…

Do you think everyone that hit the portal was pushed out? The guy this thread is about wasn’t even pushed out

No I don’t necessarily think they were “pushed out”, definitely not ALL of them at least… but I think if Jay really wanted/needed any of them, then they wouldn’t have entered the portal…

When are we going to admit there was internal strife and drama in the locker room this season? I wish one of our media talking heads would admit something

Hints why Jay is cleaning house…
quote:

He didn't have a single plate appearance in the SEC tourney

And yet he still almost cost us the South Carolina game…
