Is there insulation wrapped around the duct?
There is but it's starting to be worn out and old. I have been in the house for 11 years so it's at least that old.

Does this leak come close to a bathroom area?
No, pretty far from it actually.

Drain line was just checked last month along with refrigerant lines. Plus the drain line is below where this leak is.
Water coming through ceiling fan next to air vent

Quick back drop of my situation. 1800sq house with a 4 ton unit (think I am a bit oversized). Old old house. Recently over the winter added a ton of insulation to the attic. Have a few soffit vents and two gable vents at each end of the house. With the new insulation I am able to keep my inside temp at 72 and last year before insulation 78 was about the best I could do.
So yesterday I noticed a drip from a ceiling fan that is right next to one of my vents. Not a huge drip but I could feel and see some moister in the fan and even saw some rust. I am guessing this is condensation from the vent but is it more likely my vent is leaking air right there or is the condensation coming from the air duct? The air handler is in a closet, not in the attic so its not the drain line. What is the best way to fix this, wrap the duct with insulation?

Insulating an Attic
Posted by yomamak on 2/5/24 at 1:22 pm
I have a 1800sq foot house and I need to add insulation to my attic. I have an extremely low pitch on my roof. Even in the middle of the attic I can not stand up. Some spots have adequate insulation and some spots have none. The areas I cannot get to is where the insulation is. Thinking about spreading the loose insulation in spots where I can get to. Anyone ever do this yourself? Also am I wasting my time just adding to the spots with no insulation or will any bit help?

I do not use the app, didn't even know about it or why I would even need it. Also this may be embarrassing but I have never even updated the router. Just plugged it in day one and here we are now.

really don't wanna spend more than $200. Seems like I wouldn't really need anything that powerful right?
i would like to wire my main tv since it's so close to the modem/router but for some reason i cant with my current router. I think something is wrong with the port as it used to work.
The most are two devises streaming at once.

I pay for 500mbps dl and 10mbps upload (not sure I always get that tho)
My current old router is a Netgear Nighthawk R6700v2, wanna say it's around 6 years old
Situation at home is this: 1800sq, one main tv next to the modem/router. This is where the majority of our streaming happens. I had my tv plugged straight into the router with an ethernet cord but something seems to be wrong with the port now and I can only use wifi. Daughter streams in the far back room and has never really had any issues with current set up. Have a Peleton in another room that I have on the 5g channel cause it never worked well on the regular channel. When my ISP is not acting up everything works fine so I don't think I need a huge upgrade on the router I'm just not sure what new tech is out.

Nick Chubb Dynasty Leagues

I have Chubb is a dynasty league and I'm thinking his career may be over or at least he wont be at the same level ever again. Am I over reacting here or is this the general thinking?

I mean this in the nicest way possible but I wouldn't judge your unit based off 102 degree temps. 72 is way too low unless your house is perfectly insulated.

Help with Dallas
Posted by yomamak on 8/8/23 at 11:30 am
Flying into Dallas LOV early on a Sunday in early September but staying at the embassy suites by DFW for work. Looking for a breakfast/coffee place then a sports bar that has NFL on for that Sunday. Not sure the distance between the two airports but I guess something closer to where I'm staying since I will have my bag.
More heat in house from west facing windows or poor attic insulation?
Posted by yomamak on 8/2/23 at 9:01 am
like everyone my hvac is struggling on these hundred degree days and i know i have poor attic insulation (will be handled this winter). I'm wondering how much is a double west facing window with porous blinds actually heating my house? I'm trying to decide if its worth blacking out these windows for better hvac efficiency or if my problem is mainly from the poor attic insulation. I will say that bedroom is usually the hottest room in the house.
re: How many hours per day should AC run?
Posted by yomamak on 7/12/23 at 9:03 am
Technically I have an oversized unit by a half ton and mine still runs 12 hrs a day on the hottest days and almost non stop from 2-6. I have shite for insulation and such a low pitch on my roof its almost flat. Ohhh and hardly any attic ventilation. I plan on addressing these issues this winter. I also worry if when I properly insulate the attic if I will have problems because of having an oversized unit.

I'm in the same boat but I'm gonna go with ridge vent instead and insulate more this coming winter.
re: Attic Insulation Question
Posted by yomamak on 6/13/23 at 11:38 am
i think when myself and my hvac guy did the calculations for my new unit i was in between a 3 and a 4 but went with the 4 because of my house conditions.
Looking at attic fans now to help as well.

I have not checked the temp up there as I'm sure its pure hell. Between the low pitched roof and absolutely zero shade I know I'm getting all the heat up there.
As far as vents go I have one of each side of the long run of the house but that's it. No whirlybird or anything like that.
