It’s been both ways, lots of holding on ou in first half
Ok I’m stupid. Forgot they have ran some earlier this year. Maybe they can run it more, idk.
Might help as you get an extra lead blocker and Germie seems to have excellent vision with the ball in his hands.

Just a thought.

Shallow crossing routes?

I’m no X’s and O’s expert, but it seems to me our offense has no answer when teams start to blitz. (2nd half vs Missouri, last night against Auburn).

I rarely see receivers running crossing routes 5-10 yards down the field, looks more like a lot of long vertical or deep routes and 1 check down.

Am I missing something?
The entire team looks gassed. Reminds me of fsu game. Conditioning not up to standard?

Why are we even talking about this? We need to beat lsu first.
In his opening statement, as he was saying “I have great confidence in our guys, the level of ownership has been really strong” he was simultaneously shaking his head no.

I’m not a body language expert by any means, but I believe it’s well established that this is a sign that someone doesn’t truly believe what they are saying. Results from an uncomfortableness to what is being said.

Not a good look…
I haven't really been following fall camp a ton, but in what little I have seen from interview/press conferences Deboer seems to be a lot more confident and comfortable headed into this season.

Not sure if that is due to him having a year under his belt and being more familiar with the program, or if he has a better feeling about this year's team. Probably a little bit of both.

Mickey Mouse was the wrong term, they were the best team, but you get my point.

Given how bad michigan is - No win situation for Deboer

Are there any advanced analytics on the number of negative run plays we have had this year as compared to the previous few years?

Feels like we have multiple per drive and sometimes they are for a 3 yard loss.

Fair point, and I might be overreacting. In the past Bama teams wouldn't have let VANDY push them around for 3 yards a pop in the 4th quarter.

I don't know the xs and os and it could have simply been a schematics/execution problem more so than a conditioning/toughness problem.

Its certainly been less of a problem on defense.

I could care less how many times they run or pass, I just think there should be an emphasis on being physically imposing versus winning track meets. Its a mindset if you will regardless of the actual play calls.

Deboer seems to be moving away from Sabans philosophy on beating your opponent 1 play at a time and thus wearing them down in the fourth quarter and is instead focused on the outcome of winning the game.

true, but if you look at the season as a whole - South Carolina, Ten, Vandy and oklahoma were all more physical.

Michigan was an incredibly run heavy team last year. JJ mccarthy went like half the season without throwing a passing td

Michigan won last year, and georgia the year before

You aren't wrong at all, but I expect this to change with a more competent qb. When Alabama did have success this year it was often times due to big plays more so than long sustained drives.

Part of this is due to penalty issues also of course.

Anybody else here a little concerned with the transition in terms of the style of play of Alabama football and its identity?

Worried we are going to end up like Ohio State (now) or Oregon teams of old that can be really explosive on offense at times but when they go up against physical teams they struggle on offense and defense as well.

It seems this started a couple of years ago, but Deboer just doesn't seem to emphasize physicality as part of the team identity (obviously im not in the locker room) and it appears to be getting even worse.

I also recognize that the increased parity means physically dominating the opponent won't be possible in the same way it was under Saban for all those years. Hopefully I am wrong, and its just a personnel issue right now.
