Not that surprising that they might set up a security zone around a high profile asset. After all, we are in a proxy war with Russia, engaged, in direct acton with Iran, and also have sent a carrier to the Caribbean off Cuba.

The US got into this thing relying on the pipe-dream that somehow the Iranian people would "rise up," which did not happen.
