Glad the BR rep can play bass well.
May need to consider branching out and learning the outdoor fridge repair part of his business.

Saw what ended up being my first wife when I passed in the parking lot and she was staring back at me. Went inside to flirt, pretended to be looking for a watch. Ended up buying a watch I had no use for, from her. Dated and ended up married, all from window shopping.

4000+ shares XOM
Over $200k cash
We live off our income as we did prior to inheritance.
Let those gifts work for us. If we need them they will be there for us.
If we don’t, kids and grandkids will share.

Legally - probably not much will happen if it is just simple battery which is a misdemeanor. The fine is $1000 and up to 6 months in prison.
Reality is many 1st time offenders get misdemeanor probation and attend anger management classes.
Civil - Could be sued.
Politically - the voters will decide.

Re the State's seat belt law, there's a bigger picture involved, & it goes along with mandatory helmet wearing on motorcycles. Multiple studies show that injuries from not wearing either dramatically increase the extent of injuries, subsequently, insurance costs. Which eventually ends up costing all of us. Not that "visible" to the general public perhaps but numbers don't lie.
Now use that same logic with ambulance chasing trial lawyers.
Same as seatbelts & helmets, the laws allow the trial lawyers to increase the cost for all of us.
re: Stand-by Generator for home. Worth it?
Posted by zuluboudreaux on 5/29/26 at 10:53 am to jmarto1
Basically true with any gasoline / natural gas / etc piece of equipment,,,,,,,, it you take care of the item, it will most likely take care of you.
For a generator, let it rest daily, check oil level, add oil if necessary.
For long term use in a disaster, also do self maintenance, refer to the manual or a YouTube Video and complete the following:
Whenever your mtce. schedule dictates, change oil & oil filter
Change air filter
Change spark plugs.
Etc.
I also learned to turn off the auto-start during a hurricane or expected outage due to the gas pressure.
When the power goes out, all stand-by generators compete for natural gas which is supplied by gas lines that are too small to handle that load.
I wait an hour or so, shut off the breaker panel switches and then start my generator manually.
This allows the generator to run at low RPM’s thus not needing as much natural gas pressure.
Once that is stable, I start turning on breakers starting with lights and fans, followed by fridge & freezers, then the AC, etc
I only run the water heater as needed.
This served me well after Ida and I had only minor issues here and there caused by low gas pressure.
Now, others around me used the Ron Popeil (IYKYK) method and put their generator on the “set it and forget it mode”.
Those are the ones that had problems around me.
Several with older models had engine problems but that was a known issue with those models.

re: Carnival Jubilee or MSC Seascape

It was the best Carnival ship we experienced (60+ CCL cruises). Even with the large number of passengers, the ship never felt crowded.
In addition to the Theatre, they have shows in a big atrium stage area on Deck 6 mid-ship that was viewable from several levels with stadium like seating.
As I said previously, the dining venues were excellent. During the 8 day cruise, we only ate at one repeat restaurant.
Many small dining options open throughout the day and evening and in various parts of the ship.
Java Blue (deck 6 mid) had free dining options for breakfast and lunch. Also had ready to eat salads, fruit, etc in to go containers that you could take with you and eat elsewhere which we thought was nice.
Comedy shows and bar areas were active.
The Veterans ceremony was very well done, we always attend those as they always have someone cutting onions nearby.
The ship had a very upbeat vibe and the crew members were happy, friendly and accommodating. It was a very positive place. You could tell that somebody was doing their job to develop a positive culture within the crew.
We had a forward facing balcony on Deck 17 which was very nice.

Did the bill of sale document they were purchasing the porch in the description of items being sold?
6 months tells me they have no use for the porch. They getting inside the trailer without the porch.

You’d be surprised at how poorly trained those people are.
I can only speak for our 911 agency. Training is very thorough and done correctly. You must be proficient in each task before you progress to the next part of training. Takes 4-6 months to be fully released to answer calls / dispatch without a shadow monitoring you.
Floor supervision holds the employees accountable to follow the National standards. Errors are neither acceptable nor tolerated. Discipline occurs when procedures are not followed.
Now I can’t testify to what other agencies do, but I can assure you, you would be impressed with our 911 system and amazed at everything they are trained to do. The phone call to 911 only scratches the surface of their capabilities.

I had to call 911 a little over a year ago after witnessing a really bad car accident, and they asked me 20 fricking questions before routing me to an ambulance service company
I was literally on the phone for probably 3 minutes answering who, what, when, where, why, how? at some point, I was like, there’s been a bad car accident just send an ambulance and a police officer.
How fricking complicated is that?
As a 911 Board member, I understand and share your frustration. Please know there is a purpose for all the questions and the details / accuracy of the situation. The dispatchers would like to hang up quicker also, however, they follow National Standards dispatcher protocols.
Most emergency agencies are on the same dispatch software system, meaning, the information you provide over the phone and entered into the computer software, is seen in real time by police, Fire and EMS dispatchers.
Once a confirmed address is verified, resources are dispatched. Again, accuracy is paramount. Nothing worse than sending resources to the wrong location.
Additional info helps determine what else is needed such as, extrication, utilities for a down power line, safety issues, pre-arrival self-help medical instructions, etc.
While frustrating, that ‘useless info’ you think you are being bothered to be asked, actually has a purpose. In many cases, it may not be necessary. However, tele-communicators must do their job gathering information the same way for minor incidents and major detailed incidents.
While this answer may not satisfy those who think the process is stupid. Hopefully, you have gathered an understanding of the ‘why 911 asks so many questions’, so that if you need help, hopefully the person who calls 911 is able to assist the response by providing the requested information.

We sailed the Jubilee sister ship, the Mardi Gras. It was fantastic. A ton of people but never crowded. So many dining venues to explore.
The primary Cruise Director on the Jubilee, Kyndell “Fire” was a great host when she was on Mardi Gras.
You saw here everywhere, very energetic and personable.
Good luck and happy sailing with the wind t your back.

If it’s for the kid’s enjoyment, do Carnival.
We have over 60 cruises on Carnival over the years.
That being said, we rarely do Carnival, especially out of NOLA.
Galveston clientele wasn’t bad the last time we sailed out of there (4 yrs).
MSC is more an adult crowd type cruise.

It was a no-win position for the cop.
She is tactically deficient. No situational awareness as her pistol was exposed (not protected) as evident by the male standing behind her with his hand on her back above the pistol.
She was not taking anyone into custody.
Outnumbered.
One prep with crutches against 3 others.
Taze the crutch dude - and the other 3 beat his arse more and she can’t stop it.
Taze one of the 3, she can’t take him into custody if the other 2 turn on her. If successful, what does she do next.
Do nothing? Crucified by public opinion as seen in comments above.
Simply be passive aggressive in an attempt to appear you are actively trying to calm & stop the fight.
Another issue is the mob mentality as others got involved.
At the end of the day, protect yourself, Hope backup arrives soon and live to fight another day.
Maybe crutch dude was the a-hole aggressor and deserved the best down? :dunno: :dunno:
